Wheel Alignment Specifications & Procedures Ford Probe I

CAMBER ADJUSTMENT

Remove rivet from camber plate. Loosen strut mount-to-strut tower attaching nuts. Move top of strut until desired camber is obtained. Tighten nuts to specification.

CASTER ADJUSTMENT

Caster is factory set and is not adjustable. If caster is not to specification, repair or replace bent or broken parts.

TOE-IN ADJUSTMENT (FRONT)

Ensure steering wheel is centered. Loosen tie rod end lock nuts. Loosen steering gear dust boot outer retaining clips. While holding tie rod end, rotate tie rod to adjust toe-in. Clean and lubricate tie rod end threads. Tighten tie rod end lock nut to specification. Align steering gear dust boots and install retaining clips.

TOE-IN ADJUSTMENT (REAR)

Loosen lock nuts clockwise on right control arm. Loosen lock nuts counterclockwise on left control arm. To increase rear toe-in, rotate right control arm adjusting rod counterclockwise and turn left control arm adjusting arm clockwise. To decrease rear toe-in, rotate right control arm adjusting rod clockwise and turn left control arm adjusting arm counterclockwise.

(1) Steering Axis Inclination (SAI) is 12 3/4° (12.75°). (2) Left to right caster differential must not exceed 1 1/2° (1.5°).

(1) Tighten to specification, then continue until cotter pin slots are aligned with hole. Install new cotter pin.
