ENGINE IDENTIFICATION
Note. Unless otherwise specified, references to Pickup include F350 Super Duty commercial chassis. Information in this article also applies to the 1996 Pickup F150 Lightning model.

Engine may be identified by eighth character of Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). See VIN ENGINE CODES table. VIN plate is attached to upper left corner of instrument panel, near windshield. VIN is also found on the Safety Compliance Certification Label on left door or left door pillar.
