Note. If necessary, lubricate the Catalyst Monitor Sensor (CMS) with penetrating and lock lubricant to assist in removal.

Note. Apply anti-seize to the threads of the CMS prior to installing.

Note. The correct torque wrench setting must be calculated when using the Exhaust Gas Oxygen Sensor Socket to install the CMS. Refer to the Wrench Adapter Formulas in the illustration .

Variable Camshaft Timing (VCT) Variable Force Solenoid

Note. The Variable Camshaft Timing (VCT) variable force solenoid pins must be fully depressed to avoid interference with the VCT valve tips during installation. Failure to follow these instructions can result in damage to the engine.

Note. It is necessary to remove the valve cover to perform this procedure. For additional information, refer to ENGINE - 5.0L (4V) .

Note. To install, tighten bolts to 8 Nm (71 lb-in) plus an additional 30 degrees.

Note. The A/C compressor must be positioned aside to access the CKP sensor, it is not necessary to remove the A/C compressor from the vehicle.

Fuel Rail Pressure and Temperature Sensor

WARNINGDo not smoke, carry lighted tobacco or have an open flame of any type when working on or near any fuel-related component. Highly flammable mixtures are always present and may be ignited. Failure to follow these instructions may result in serious personal injury.
WARNINGBefore working on or disconnecting any of the fuel tubes or fuel system components, relieve the fuel system pressure to prevent accidental spraying of fuel. Fuel in the fuel system remains under high pressure, even when the engine is not running. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury.

Note. Release the fuel system pressure prior to removing the fuel rail pressure and temperature sensor. Refer to FUEL SYSTEM - GENERAL INFORMATION .

Note. Inspect the O-ring seal and install new as necessary. Lubricate the O-ring seal with clean engine oil.

IAT2 Sensor

Note. Tighten the IAT2 sensor in 2 stages. During stage 2, do not tighten the IAT2 sensor more than one full turn and do not rotate the IAT2 sensor counterclockwise after tightening.

  1. NOTE: The actuator adjustment tool included with the new actuator kit must be used when installing the Supercharger (SC) bypass vacuum actuator. Failure to correctly adjust the actuator will result in incorrect operation of the SC assembly. General Equipment: Actuator Adjustment Tool.
  2. Tighten to 20 Nm (177 lb-in).
  3. Remove General Equipment: Actuator Adjustment Tool.
  4. Install the SC. Refer to «INTAKE AIR DISTRIBUTION & FILTERING»(ref-574156) .

  1. Remove the ACL outlet pipe. Refer to «INTAKE AIR DISTRIBUTION & FILTERING»(ref-574156) .
  2. Disconnect the TP sensor electrical connector.
  3. NOTE: Do not put direct heat on the TP sensor or any other plastic parts because heat damage may occur. Damage may also occur if ETB temperature exceeds 120°C (248°F). NOTE: Do not use power tools. Remove the TP sensor. Using a heat gun, apply heat to the top of the ETB until the top TP sensor bolt ear reaches approximately 55°C (130°F). This should take no more than 3 minutes using an 1, 100-watt heat gun. The heat gun should be about 25.4 mm (1 in) away from the ETB. Monitor the temperature of the top TP sensor bolt ear on the ETB with a digital laser or infrared thermometer, while heating the ETB. Hand tools only. Discard the specified component.   1. NOTE: When installing the new TP sensor, make sure that the radial locator tab on the TP sensor is aligned with the radial locator hole on the ETB. NOTE: Do not use power tools. Hand tools only. Tighten to 3 Nm (27 lb-in).
  2. Install the ACL outlet pipe. Refer to «INTAKE AIR DISTRIBUTION & FILTERING»(ref-574156) .

  1. Retrieve the module configuration. Carry out the module configuration retrieval steps of the Programmable Module Installation (PMI) procedure. For additional information, refer to «MODULE CONFIGURATION»(ref-574112) .
  2. Remove the 8 retainers and the radiator sight shield.
  3. Disconnect the 3 PCM electrical connectors.
  4. Remove the 2 bolts and the PCM.
