CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT

CHECK ENGINE warning light indicates malfunctions in the electronic engine control system. When functioning correctly, light comes on when ignition switch is turned to ON position and goes out after engine starts. If light fails to glow with ignition switch on or remains on when running, a service need is indicated.

ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM LIGHT (IF EQUIPPED)

The anti-lock system illuminates the ANTI-LOCK light briefly each time engine is started. A second self-check occurs the first time vehicle reaches 7 MPH and the system activates the ABS pump motor for 1/2 second. A mechanical noise, heard at this time, is a normal part of the self-check feature. If a malfunction is found during this check, the ANTI-LOCK light will come on.

AIR BAG READINESS LIGHT

Light illuminates for approximately 6 seconds when ignition is turned to ON position. If light fails to illuminate, continues to flash or remains on while driving, the system should be serviced as soon as possible.

CHARGING SYSTEM WARNING LIGHT

Light is shown as a battery symbol on the instrument cluster. It will illuminate briefly when ignition is turned to ON or START position, and should go out when the engine starts and alternator begins to charge. If light stays on or comes on when the engine is running, the battery is not being charged and the electrical system needs service.

CHECK OIL WARNING LIGHT

Light should come on briefly until engine has started. If light remains on while engine is running, check oil level and add, as necessary.

ENGINE OIL PRESSURE LIGHT

Light indicates low engine oil pressure, not the amount of oil in the engine. However, oil level may affect oil pressure. Under normal operating conditions, light illuminates briefly with ignition in the ON or START position and turns off after engine is started. If light stays on or turns on while engine is running, stop immediately and check the oil level.

CAUTIONDO NOT operate vehicle if oil pressure light remains illuminated, regardless of oil level.

BRAKE WARNING LIGHT

BRAKE warning light indicates that either the parking brake is on or the brake fluid level is low. The light should come on briefly when ignition switch is turned to ON position and go out after engine starts and parking brake is released. If light stays on, servicing is needed.

CHECK AIR SUSPENSION (AIR SUSP) WARNING LIGHT

Warning light indicates either that the air suspension switch is in the OFF position while ignition switch is in ON position, or that there is a problem with the suspension system. When functioning correctly, light comes on briefly when ignition switch is turned to ON position and goes out after engine has started. If light remains on when running, check Air Suspension switch in trunk. If it is switched on and the light still glows, have the suspension system checked immediately.
