PINPOINT TEST A: THE COURTESY LAMPS DO NOT ILLUMINATE WITH A DOOR OPEN

  1. A1 CHECK THE COURTESY LAMP DOOR FUNCTION SWITCH ON THE FRONT/DRIVER INTERIOR LAMP Press the door function switch on the front/driver interior lamp multiple times. Does the switch indicator color change between yellow and blue? Yes : GO to A2 No : Install a front/driver interior lamp. Refer to: «Interior Lamp»(ref-658932-S13447929512014092900000) .
  2. A2 CHECK THE OPERATION OF THE COURTESY LAMP FUNCTION FROM THE FRONT/DRIVER INTERIOR LAMP Ignition OFF. Using the courtesy lamp switch on the front/driver interior lamp, activate the overhead courtesy lamps. Do the overhead courtesy lamps illuminate? Yes : GO to A3 No : GO to «PINPOINT TEST B»(ref-658932-S35293142132014092900000)
  3. A3 CHECK THE DOOR AJAR SWITCH OPERATION Deactivate the overhead courtesy lamps from the front interior lamp. Disconnect: Suspect door latch. Do the courtesy lamps illuminate? Yes : For a front door, INSTALL a new front door latch. Refer to: «FRONT DOOR LATCH»(ref-658832-S16368870392014092900000) . For a rear door, INSTALL a new rear door latch. Refer to: «REAR DOOR LATCH»(ref-658832-S39981776552014092900000) . No : GO to A4
  4. A4 CHECK THE DOOR AJAR SWITCH INPUT CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND Disconnect: BCM C2280B . Measure: LH Front Door Ajar Switch Positive Lead Measurement/Action Negative Lead C525-3 Ground RH Front Door Ajar Switch Positive Lead Measurement/Action Negative Lead C609-6 Ground LH Rear Door Ajar Switch Positive Lead Measurement/Action Negative Lead C705-3 Ground RH Rear Door Ajar Switch Positive Lead Measurement/Action Negative Lead C805-6 Ground Is the resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms? Yes : GO to A5 No : REPAIR the circuit.
  5. A5 CHECK FOR CORRECT BCM (BODY CONTROL MODULE) OPERATION Disconnect and inspect all BCM connectors. Repair: corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins) damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary Reconnect the BCM connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly. Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present. Is the concern still present? Yes : CHECK OASIS for any applicable Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs). If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW TSB instructions. If no Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) address this concern, INSTALL a new BCM . Refer to: «BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM)»(ref-658829-S13317600002014092900000) . No : The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues. CLEAR the Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).

Visual Inspection and Diagnostic Pre-checks

  1. Verify BCM fuse 60 (10A) is OK.

  1. B1 CHECK THE DOOR AJAR PARAMETER IDENTIFICATIONS (PIDS) Ignition ON. Using a scan tool, view the BCM Parameter Identifications (PIDs). Monitor the BCM DOOR_SW_LR, DOOR_SW_PSGR, DOOR_SW_LR and DOOR_SW_RR Parameter Identifications (PIDs) while opening and closing all the doors. Do all the door ajar switch PID values agree with the door positions? Yes : GO to B2 No : GO to «PINPOINT TEST A»(ref-658932-S24280332212014092900000)
  2. B2 CHECK THE OPERATION OF ALL THE INTERIOR COURTESY LAMPS Open a door and observe the interior courtesy lamps. Are all the interior courtesy lamps inoperative? Yes : VERIFY the BCM fuse 60 (10A) is OK. If OK, GO to B3 If not OK, REFER to the «SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-653475) to identify the possible causes of the circuit short. No : If all of the overhead courtesy lamps are inoperative, GO to B3 If both footwell lamps are inoperative, GO to B8 If an individual footwell lamp is inoperative (without ambient lighting), GO to B9 If only the front interior lamp is inoperative (without a roof opening panel), INSTALL a new interior lamp. Refer to: «Interior Lamp»(ref-658932-S13447929512014092900000) . If only the LH front interior lamp is inoperative (with a roof opening panel), INSTALL a new interior lamp. Refer to: «Interior Lamp»(ref-658932-S13447929512014092900000) . If the rear (vehicles built before 05-12-2013) or luggage area lamp (without a roof opening panel) is inoperative, GO to B9 If the RH front, either rear or luggage area lamp (with a roof opening panel) is inoperative, GO to B9 If the RH front, and rear lamps (with a roof opening panel) are all inoperative, GO to B12
  3. B3 CHECK FOR VOLTAGE TO THE FRONT/DRIVER COURTESY LAMP Close the door. Ignition OFF. Disconnect: Front Interior Lamp C931 (without a roof opening panel). Disconnect: LH Front Interior Lamp C908 (with a roof opening panel). Ignition ON. Open a door. Measure: Front Interior Lamp (without a roof opening panel) Positive Lead Measurement/Action Negative Lead C931-1 Ground LH Front Interior Lamp (with a roof opening panel) Positive Lead Measurement/Action Negative Lead C908-1 Ground Is the voltage greater than 11 volts? Yes : GO to B5 No : GO to B4
  4. B4 BYPASS THE BCM (BODY CONTROL MODULE) (INTERIOR LIGHT RELAY) Ignition OFF. Connect: Front Interior Lamp C931 (without a roof opening panel). Connect: LH Front Interior Lamp C908 (with a roof opening panel). Disconnect: BCM C2280F . Connect a fused jumper wire: Positive Lead Measurement/Action Negative Lead C2280F-12 Battery Positive Ignition ON. Open any door. Do the courtesy lamps illuminate? Yes : REMOVE the fused jumper wire. GO to B18 No : REMOVE the fused jumper wire. REPAIR the courtesy lamp voltage supply circuit for an open.

B5 CHECK THE FRONT/DRIVER COURTESY LAMP GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN Measure: Front Interior Lamp (without a roof opening panel) Positive Lead Measurement/Action Negative Lead C931-1 C931-5 LH Front Interior Lamp (with a roof opening panel) Positive Lead Measurement/Action Negative Lead C908-1 C908-5 Is the voltage greater than 11 volts? Yes : GO to B6 No : REPAIR the circuit.
  6. B6 BYPASS THE BCM (BODY CONTROL MODULE) DIMMING CONTROL Ignition OFF. Connect: Front Interior Lamp C931 (without a roof opening panel). Connect: LH Front Interior Lamp C908 (with a roof opening panel). Disconnect: BCM C2280H . Connect a fused jumper wire: Positive Lead Measurement/Action Negative Lead C2280H-11 Ground Ignition ON. Open any door. Do the courtesy lamps illuminate? Yes : REMOVE the fused jumper wire. GO to B18 No : LEAVE the jumper wire connected. GO to B7
  7. B7 CHECK THE COURTESY LAMP GROUND CONTROLLED CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN Disconnect: Front Interior Lamp C931 (without a roof opening panel). Disconnect: LH Front Interior Lamp C908 (with a roof opening panel). Measure: Front Interior Lamp (without a roof opening panel) Positive Lead Measurement/Action Negative Lead C931-1 C931-5 LH Front Interior Lamp (with a roof opening panel) Positive Lead Measurement/Action Negative Lead C908-1 C908-5 Is the voltage greater than 11 volts? Yes : REMOVE the fused jumper wire. INSTALL a new interior lamp. Refer to: «Interior Lamp»(ref-658932-S13447929512014092900000) . No : REMOVE the fused jumper wire. REPAIR the circuit.
  8. B8 CHECK THE FOOTWELL LAMP GROUND CONTROLLED CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN Ignition OFF. Disconnect: BCM C2280C . Connect a fused jumper wire: Positive Lead Measurement/Action Negative Lead C2280C-21 Ground Ignition ON. Do the footwell lamps illuminate? Yes : REMOVE the fused jumper wire. GO to B18 No : REMOVE the fused jumper wire. REPAIR the circuit.
  9. B9 CHECK FOR VOLTAGE TO THE INOPERATIVE INTERIOR COURTESY LAMP Ignition OFF. Disconnect: Inoperative interior lamp. Ignition ON.   12. B12 CHECK THE REAR LAMP CONTROL CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE Ignition OFF. Disconnect: LH Front Interior Lamp C908 (with roof opening panel). Disconnect: RH Front Interior Lamp C903 (with roof opening panel). Disconnect: LH Rear Interior Lamp C963 (with roof opening panel). Disconnect: RH Rear Interior Lamp C964 (with roof opening panel). Disconnect: Front Interior Lamp C931 without roof opening panel, vehicles built from 05-12-2013). Disconnect: Rear Interior Lamp C901 without roof opening panel, vehicles built from 05-12-2013). Ignition ON. Measure: With Roof Opening Panel Positive Lead Measurement/Action Negative Lead C908-6 Ground Without Roof Opening Panel, Vehicles Built From 05-12-2013) Positive Lead Measurement/Action Negative Lead C901-4 Ground Is any voltage present? Yes : REPAIR the circuit. No : GO to B13
  13. B13 CHECK THE REAR LAMP CONTROL CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND Ignition OFF. Measure: With Roof Opening Panel Positive Lead Measurement/Action Negative Lead C908-6 Ground Without Roof Opening Panel, Vehicles Built From 05-12-2013) Positive Lead Measurement/Action Negative Lead C901-4 Ground Is the resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms? Yes : GO to B14 No : REPAIR the circuit.
  14. B14 CHECK THE REAR LAMP CONTROL CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN Measure: With Roof Opening Panel Positive Lead Measurement/Action Negative Lead C908-6 C903-6 Without Roof Opening Panel, Vehicles Built From 05-12-2013) Positive Lead Measurement/Action Negative Lead C901-4 C931-6 Is the resistance less than 3 ohms? Yes : For vehicles without roof opening panel, built from 05-12-2013, INSTALL a new rear interior lamp. Refer to: «Interior Lamp»(ref-658932-S13447929512014092900000) . For vehicles with roof opening panel, GO to B15 No : REPAIR the circuit.
  15. B15 ISOLATE THE PASSENGER INTERIOR LAMP Close the door. Connect: LH Front Interior Lamp C908 . Connect: LH Rear Interior Lamp C963 . Connect: RH Rear Interior Lamp C964 . Open any door. Does the rear interior lamp illuminate? Yes : INSTALL a new RH front interior lamp. Refer to: «Interior Lamp»(ref-658932-S13447929512014092900000) . No : GO to B16
  16. B16 ISOLATE THE LH (LEFT-HAND) REAR INTERIOR LAMP Close the door. Connect: RH Front Interior Lamp C903 . Disconnect: LH Rear Interior Lamp C963 . Open any door. Does the RH front interior lamp illuminate? Yes : INSTALL a new LH front interior lamp. Refer to: «Interior Lamp»(ref-658932-S13447929512014092900000) . No : GO to B17
  17. B17 ISOLATE THE RH (RIGHT-HAND) REAR INTERIOR LAMP Close the door. Connect: LH Rear Interior Lamp C963 . Disconnect: RH Rear Interior Lamp C964 . Open any door. Does the RH front interior lamp illuminate? Yes : INSTALL a new RH rear interior lamp. Refer to: «Interior Lamp»(ref-658932-S13447929512014092900000) . No : INSTALL a new LH front interior lamp. Refer to: «Interior Lamp»(ref-658932-S13447929512014092900000) .

PINPOINT TEST C: ALL THE COURTESY LAMPS STAY ON CONTINUOUSLY

  1. C1 CHECK THE DOOR AJAR SWITCH PARAMETER IDENTIFICATIONS (PIDS) Ignition ON. Using a scan tool, view BCM Parameter Identifications (PIDs). Monitor the BCM DOOR_SW_DRVR, DOOR_SW_PSGR, DOOR_SW_LR, DOOR_SW_RR and DOOR_SW_LUGG Parameter Identifications (PIDs) while opening and closing all the doors and tailgate. Do all the door ajar switch PID values agree with the door positions? Yes : For the interior courtesy lamps, GO to «PINPOINT TEST D»(ref-658932-S17743481082014092900000) For the puddle lamps, GO to «PINPOINT TEST H»(ref-658932-S29707328702014092900000) No : GO to C2

  5. C5 CHECK THE DOOR LATCH RETURN CIRCUIT TO THE DOOR MODULE FOR AN OPEN Ignition OFF. Connect: Suspect door latch. Disconnect: Suspect door module. Ignition ON. Measure: Cupholders Positive Lead Measurement/Action Negative Lead C912-15 C3349-2 LH Front Footwell Positive Lead Measurement/Action Negative Lead C912-15 C209-2 RH Front Footwell Positive Lead Measurement/Action Negative Lead C912-15 C266-2 Rear Footwells Positive Lead Measurement/Action Negative Lead C912-15 C3640-2 LH Front Door Positive Lead Measurement/Action Negative Lead C912-15 C573-2 RH Front Door Positive Lead Measurement/Action Negative Lead C912-15 C649-2 Is the resistance less than 3 ohms? Yes : INSTALL a new ambient lighting LED in question. No : REPAIR the circuit.

PINPOINT TEST J: THE COURTESY LAMPS DO NOT ILLUMINATE WITH THE LIFTGATE OPEN

  1. J1 CHECK THE COURTESY LAMP OPERATION FROM ANY DOOR Ignition OFF. Open any door and observe the courtesy lamps. Do the courtesy lamps illuminate? Yes : GO to J2 No : GO to «PINPOINT TEST A»(ref-658932-S24280332212014092900000)
  2. J2 CHECK THE RGTM (REAR GATE TRUNK MODULE) OR THE LIFTGATE LATCH Disconnect: Liftgate Latch C479 (manual liftgate). Disconnect: RGTM C4174B (power liftgate). Do the courtesy lamps illuminate? Yes : GO to J4 No : GO to J3
  3. J3 CHECK THE LIFTGATE AJAR INPUT CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND Disconnect: BCM C2280B . Measure: Positive Lead Measurement/Action Negative Lead C2280B-47 Ground Is the resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms? Yes : GO to J5 No : REPAIR the circuit.
  4. J4 CHECK FOR CORRECT RGTM (REAR GATE TRUNK MODULE) OPERATION Disconnect and inspect all RGTM connectors. Repair: corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins) damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary Reconnect the RGTM connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly. Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present. Is the concern still present? Yes : CHECK OASIS for any applicable Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs). If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW TSB instructions. If no Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) address this concern, INSTALL a new RGTM . Refer to: «REAR GATE TRUNK MODULE (RGTM)»(ref-658839-S37522589462014092900000) . No : The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues. CLEAR the Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).
  5. J5 CHECK FOR CORRECT BCM (BODY CONTROL MODULE) OPERATION Disconnect and inspect all BCM connectors. Repair: corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins) damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary Reconnect the BCM connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly. Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present. Is the concern still present? Yes : CHECK OASIS for any applicable Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs). If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW TSB instructions.
