Rear View Mirrors -- Electric: Overview Ford Focus III

Overview - Exterior, Power

Power mirrors allow the Left Hand (LH) or Right Hand (RH) exterior mirror glass to be positioned electronically. The position of the power mirror glass is controlled by the exterior mirror control switch. Selecting the Left Hand (LH) or Right Hand (RH) position of the exterior mirror control switch determines which power mirror glass to control.

Overview Rear View Mirrors - Exterior, Heated

The exterior mirrors are available with heated mirror glass, which heats the mirror glass to remove frost, snow, ice and condensation.

Overview - Interior

The interior rear view mirror has a single pivot point on the back of the mirror which allows adjustment of the mirror up or down and from side to side. The interior rear view mirror may be equipped with an optional auto-dimming function. The auto-dimming mirror changes from the normal state to the non-glare state when bright lights (glare) reach the mirror. When the mirror detects bright light from behind the vehicle, it will automatically darken to minimize glare.

Diagnostic Overview

A Single Mirror Is Inoperative - Non-Memory

Normal Operation and Fault Conditions

The Rear Junction Box (RJB) fuse 4 (25A) supplies voltage to the Driver Door Module (DDM) and Rear Junction Box (RJB) fuse 5 (25A) supplies voltage to the Passenger Door Module (PDM) at all times. Each exterior mirror shares a common circuit for both up/down and right/left movement.

DTC FAULT TRIGGER CONDITIONS

A Single Mirror Does Not Operate Correctly In All Directions

The Driver Door Module (DDM) supplies voltage and ground to control the Left Hand (LH) exterior mirror motor movement and the Passenger Door Module (PDM) supplies voltage and ground to control the Right Hand (RH) exterior mirror motor movement. The Driver Door Module (DDM) and Passenger Door Module (PDM) control glass movement by reversing polarity of the voltage and ground circuits being supplied to each motor.

B1C11:11Passenger Left/Right Mirror Motor: Circuit Short To GroundThis Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) is set if the Passenger Door Module (PDM) senses excessive current draw when the driver mirror is commanded RIGHT or LEFT and voltage is applied to the mirror motor horizontal circuit.
