The exhaust system consists of
All partial zero emissions vehicles (PZEV) and early build non-PZEV
- a one-piece catalytic converter manifold.
- an exhaust flexible pipe.
- a resonator.
- a muffler and tailpipe assembly with insulators bolted to the body.
Late build non-PZEV
- a one-piece catalytic converter manifold with exhaust flexible pipe.
- a resonator.
- a muffler and tailpipe assembly with insulators bolted to the body.
Note. The production muffler and tailpipe assembly is one-piece construction. The service muffler and tailpipe is 3-piece construction for partial zero emissions vehicles (PZEV) and 2-piece construction for non-PZEV.
The exhaust system provides an exit for exhaust gases and reduces engine noise by passing exhaust gases through the catalytic converter, a muffler assembly and resonator. Rubber exhaust hanger insulators attach the exhaust system to the mounting hooks.
