  1. Remove the A/C compressor. For additional information, refer to «AIR CONDITIONING (A/C) COMPRESSOR»(ref-255391-S18125914522007053100000) in this article.
  2. Remove the A/C clutch disc and hub retaining bolt. Hold the A/C clutch disc and hub with the special tool. Remove the bolt.
  3. Remove the A/C clutch and the A/C clutch disc and hub spacer. Thread an 8 x 1.25 mm bolt into the A/C clutch disc and hub to force it from the compressor shaft. Lift the A/C clutch disc and hub and the A/C clutch disc and hub spacer from the compressor shaft.
  4. Remove the shaft seal felt from the nose of the A/C compressor with the special tool.
  5. Clean the compressor nose area.
  6. Insert the tip of the special tool into one of the snap ring eyes.
  7. Rotate the special tool to position the tool tip and the snap ring eye closest to the A/C compressor shaft.
  8. Pull the special tool up quickly while keeping the tool shaft against the side of the nose opening and remove the snap ring.
  9. Engage the special tool into the inside diameter of the shaft seal.
  10. Turn the tool handle clockwise to expand the tool tip inside of the shaft seal.
  11. Pull the seal from the A/C compressor.

  1. Clean the A/C compressor nose area.
  2. Place the shaft seal on the special tool. Lubricate the shaft seal and the special tool with PAG oil or equivalent.
  3. Position the shaft seal and the special tool over the A/C compressor shaft.
  4. Push the shaft seal onto the A/C compressor shaft with the special tool until seated.
  5. Install the shaft seal snap ring.
  6. Install the shaft seal felt.
  7. Install the A/C clutch disc and hub.
  8. Install the bolt. Hold the A/C clutch disc and hub with the special tool. Tighten to 13 Nm (10 lb-ft).
  9. Measure and adjust the clutch air gap by removing or adding A/C clutch disc and hub spacers. For additional information, refer to «CLIMATE CONTROL SYSTEM-GENERAL INFORMATION AND DIAGNOSIS»(ref-255427) .
  10. Install the A/C compressor. For additional information, refer to «AIR CONDITIONING (A/C) COMPRESSOR»(ref-255391-S18125914522007053100000) in this article.

  1. Remove the heater core and evaporator core housing. For additional information, refer to «HEATER CORE AND EVAPORATOR CORE HOUSING»(ref-255391-S32399745722007053100000) in this article.
  2. Remove the screw and the floor duct.
  3. Remove the air inlet duct. Remove the 2 screws. Remove the 4 retaining clips and the air inlet duct.
  4. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

  1. Remove the RH lower instrument panel insulator.
  2. Lower the glove compartment.
  3. Remove screw and the floor duct.
  4. Close the glove compartment.
  5. Disconnect the blower motor electrical connector.
  6. Remove the 3 screws and the blower motor.
  7. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

  1. Lower the glove compartment.
  2. Remove the blower motor resistor. Disconnect the blower motor resistor electrical connector. Remove the screw. Remove the blower motor resistor.
  3. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

  1. Remove the blower motor switch knob.
  2. Remove the center instrument panel finish panel. Disconnect the cigar lighter electrical connector.
  3. Disconnect the blower motor switch electrical connector.
  4. Remove the screw and the blower motor switch.
  5. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

  1. Pull the instrument panel console bezel forward and disconnect the electrical connectors.
  2. Detach the temperature and air distribution blend door Bowden cables from the climate control assembly.
  3. Remove the 4 screws and the climate control assembly.
  4. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

  1. Recover the refrigerant. For additional information, refer to «CLIMATE CONTROL SYSTEM-GENERAL INFORMATION AND DIAGNOSIS»(ref-255427) .
  2. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to «JACKING AND LIFTING»(/ford/focus/ii-2005-2008/remont/hoistjack/#jacking-lifting) .
  3. Disconnect the evaporator core orifice connection. Discard the O-ring seal.
  4. Inspect the evaporator core orifice for damage.
  5. Engage the special tool with the evaporator core orifice.
  6. Holding the special tool T-handle stationary, rotate the special tool body to remove the evaporator core orifice.
  7. Screw the end of the special tool into the evaporator core orifice.
  8. Holding the special tool T-handle stationary, rotate the special tool body to remove the broken evaporator core orifice.

  1. Install new O-ring seals on the evaporator core orifice. Lubricate the new O-ring seals with PAG oil.
  2. Position the evaporator core orifice in the special tool.
  3. Using the special tool, install the evaporator core orifice.
  4. Connect the evaporator core orifice access fitting. Install a new O-ring seal.
  5. Evacuate, leak test and charge the refrigerant system. For additional information, refer to «CLIMATE CONTROL SYSTEM-GENERAL INFORMATION AND DIAGNOSIS»(ref-255427) .

  1. Remove the 4 bolts and position aside the lower steering column cover.
  2. Remove the function selector knob.
  3. Remove the center instrument panel finish panel. Disconnect the cigar lighter electrical connector.
  4. Detach the function selector switch. Disconnect the electrical connector. Remove the screw and detach the function selector switch.
  5. Detach the function selector cable and remove the function selector switch/cable assembly.
  6. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
