Principles of Operation
The horn system consists of a relay, the steering wheel switch and 2 horns. The horns receive voltage from the switched side of the relay. The horn relay is controlled on its ground side by the steering wheel switch or the generic electronic module (GEM).
The horn relay is supplied with constant voltage from the battery junction box (BJB) on circuit 30-DA1 (RD).
The horn switch shares the clockspring with the air bag circuits, although each of these systems work completely independent of each other.
Normal Operation
The battery junction box (BJB) supplies voltage for the horn to the central junction box (CJB) through circuit 30-DA1 (RD). The horn relay receives voltage from the CJB through circuit 30-DA1 (RD). When the horn switch is pressed, a ground signal is sent to the horn relay through circuit 91S-GJ7 (BK/BU) which energizes the horn relay. Voltage is then sent from the horn relay to the horn(s) through circuit 29S-GJ1 (OG/BU). The horn is grounded through circuit 31-GJ1 (BK).
The horn relay receives voltage from the central junction box (CJB) through circuit 30-DA1 (RD). When the horn switch is pressed, a ground signal is sent to the horn relay through circuit 91S-GJ7 (BK/BU) which energizes the horn relay. Voltage is then sent from the horn relay to the horn(s) through circuit 29S-GJ1 (OG/BU).
