Rear View Mirrors System: Removal & Installation Ford Focus I facelift

REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

Note. Do not remove the exterior mirror assembly when repairing an individual part. Individual components can be installed without removing the exterior mirror.

1. Remove the exterior mirror trim cover. Release the retaining clip. Disconnect the exterior mirror control switch electrical connector.
2. Disconnect the exterior mirror electrical connector.
3. Remove the exterior mirror bolt. To install, tighten to 11 Nm (8 lb-ft).
4. If equipped, remove the exterior mirror screw. To install, tighten to 2 Nm (18 lb-in).
5. Remove the exterior mirror.
6. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

REMOVAL

Note. This procedure only applies to ST sedan vehicles equipped with breakaway-type mirrors.

1. Press down on the exterior mirror glass to position it inwards.
2. Remove the mirror glass. If equipped, disconnect the exterior heated mirror glass electrical connectors.

INSTALLATION

1. If equipped, connect the exterior mirror glass electrical connectors.
2. Install the mirror glass. Place the vibration spring into position. Insert the vibration damper blade into the reinforcement slot.
3. Apply even pressure on both sides of the exterior mirror glass. The exterior mirror glass will lock into the exterior mirror motor.
4. Apply slight pressure on the exterior mirror glass.

Note. This procedure only applies to ST sedan vehicles equipped with breakaway-type mirrors.

1. Remove the exterior mirror glass. For additional information, refer to «Exterior Mirror Glass»(ref-278276-S24173374262008012400000) .
2. Press the exterior mirror cover in the downward position and remove the exterior mirror cover.

1. Install the exterior mirror cover.
2. Install the exterior mirror glass. For additional information, refer to «Exterior Mirror Glass»(ref-278276-S24173374262008012400000) .

1. Remove the wire cover (if equipped).
2. Remove the compass by pulling down on the compass rearmost edge (if equipped).
3. Insert the special tool between the mirror mount and windshield bracket from the bottom.
4. Release the mirror mount from windshield bracket by pulling the tool away from the windshield.

1. Slide the mirror mount over the windshield bracket from the top and adjust the mirror to the up position.
2. Using the special tool, press the mirror assembly downward along the windshield until the mount is seated on windshield bracket.
3. Install compass and wire cover (if equipped).
