Scheme 2: Pinpoint Test
  1. CHECK THE OPERATION OF THE COURTESY LAMPS FROM THE FLM NOTE: Make sure that the dark car feature is not enabled in the BCM. The dark car feature disables activation of courtesy lamps due to a door unlock, door ajar or removing the key from the ignition cylinder. The feature can be disabled using a scan tool. NOTE: Make sure all the doors are closed. Ignition OFF. Turn the courtesy lamps on by pressing the courtesy lamp switch on the FLM for approximately 3 seconds. Do the interior courtesy lamps illuminate? Yes: GO to 2 . No: REFER to «Diagnostic Routine F: One Or More Interior Courtesy Lamps Are Inoperative»(ref-517595-S33213970702012121200000) .
  2. CHECK THE DOOR AJAR SWITCH OPERATION Turn the courtesy lamps off by pressing the courtesy lamp switch for approximately 3 seconds. Disconnect: Suspect Door Latch. Do the courtesy lamps illuminate? Yes: INSTALL a new door latch for the latch in question. REFER to «FRONT DOOR LATCH»(ref-517600-S31525403652012121200000) , or REFER to «REAR DOOR LATCH»(ref-517600-S40666778172012121200000) . No: GO to 3 .
  3. CHECK THE DOOR AJAR SWITCH INPUT CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND Disconnect: BCM C2280C. Measure: Door Latch Ground Suspect Door Ajar Switch Ground Connector-Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit Left front C525-5 CPL26 (GN/VT) - - Right front C609-5 CPL31 (WH) - - Left rear C705-5 CPL36 (GN) - - Right rear C805-5 CPL39 (YE) - - Is the resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms? Yes: GO to 4 . No: REPAIR the circuit.
  4. CHECK FOR CORRECT BCM OPERATION Disconnect the BCM connectors. Repair: corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins) corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins) pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary Reconnect the BCM connectors and make sure they seat and latch correctly. Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present. Is the concern still present? Yes: CHECK OASIS for any applicable TSBs . If a TSB exists for this concern, discontinue this test and follow TSB instructions. If no TSBs address this concern, INSTALL a new BCM. REFER to «BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) - WITH INTELLIGENT ACCESS (IA)»(ref-517607-S22029955872012121200000) , or REFER to «BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) - WITHOUT INTELLIGENT ACCESS (IA)»(ref-517607-S10277508012012121200000) .   1. CHECK THE COURTESY LAMP OPERATION FROM ANY DOOR NOTE: Make sure that the dark car feature is not enabled in the BCM. The dark car feature disables activation of courtesy lamps due to a door unlock, door ajar or removing the key from the ignition cylinder. The feature can be disabled using a scan tool. Ignition OFF. Open any door and observe the courtesy lamps. Do the courtesy lamps illuminate? Yes: GO to 2 . No: REFER to «Diagnostic Routine A: The Courtesy Lamps Do Not Illuminate With a Door Open»(ref-517595-S29355523542012121200000) .
  2. CHECK THE LTM OR THE LIFTGATE LATCH Disconnect: Liftgate Latch C4174B. Do the courtesy lamps illuminate? Yes: GO to 4 . No: GO to 3 .
  3. CHECK THE LIFTGATE AJAR INPUT CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND Disconnect: BCM C2280C. Measure: BCM Ground C2280C Ground Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 19 CPL58 (GY/OG) - - Is the resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms? Yes: GO to 5 . No: REPAIR the circuit.
  4. CHECK FOR CORRECT LTM OPERATION Disconnect the LTM connectors. Repair: corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins) corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins) pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary Reconnect the LTM connectors and make sure they seat and latch correctly. Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present. Is the concern still present? Yes: CHECK OASIS for any applicable TSBs . If a TSB exists for this concern, discontinue this test and follow TSB instructions. If no TSBs address this concern, INSTALL a new LTM. REFER to «LIFTGATE/TRUNK MODULE (LTM)»(ref-517610-S39815224242012121200000) . No: The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues. CLEAR the DTCs .

  1. CHECK THE OPERATION OF ALL THE INTERIOR COURTESY LAMPS Press and hold the courtesy lamp switch for 3 seconds. Are all the interior courtesy lamps inoperative? Yes: VERIFY the BCM fuse 12 (15A) is OK. If OK, GO to 4 . No: GO to 2 .
  2. CHECK FOR VOLTAGE TO THE COURTESY LAMP Press and hold the courtesy lamp switch to turn the interior courtesy lamps off. Disconnect: Inoperative Interior Lamp. Press and hold the courtesy lamp switch for 3 seconds. For a front interior lamp (overhead console), measure: Front Interior Lamp (Overhead Console) Ground C930 Ground Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 2 VLN33 (GY/VT) - - For a rear interior lamp (with roof opening panel), measure: Interior Lamp Ground Inoperative Left/Right Rear Lamp (With Roof Opening Panel) Ground Connector-Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit C941-1 VLN33 (GY/VT) - - C942-1 VLN33 (GY/VT) - - For a rear interior lamp (without roof opening panel) or cargo lamp, measure: Interior Lamp Ground Inoperative Rear Lamp (Without Roof Opening Panel) or Cargo Lamp Ground Connector-Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit C926-2 VLN33 (GY/VT) - - C981-2 VLN33 (GY/VT) - - Is the voltage greater than 11 volts? Yes: GO to 3 . No: REPAIR the courtesy lamp voltage supply circuit for an open.

REFER to «Interior Lamp - First Row»(ref-517595-S38868510122012121200000) , REFER to «Interior Lamp - Second Row With Moon Roof»(ref-517595-S09486689632012121200000) , or REFER to «Interior Lamp - Second Row Without Moon Roof, Third Row»(ref-517595-S07509088882012121200000) . No: REPAIR the circuit.
  4. CHECK THE OPERATION OF THE DEMAND LAMPS Activate the map lamp function from all of the interior lamps. Do the map lamps illuminate? Yes: GO to 5 . No: REPAIR the interior lamp ground circuit for an open.
  5. BYPASS THE BCM Turn the map lamps off. Disconnect: BCM C2280A. NOTE: If the jumper wire fails, REFER to the appropriate wiring diagrams to identify the possible causes of the circuit short. REFER to «OEM FUSE AND RELAY INFORMATION»(ref-485835) and «OEM WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-514995) . After the repair: If no DTCs are present, test the system for normal operation. If DTC U1000:00 is present, clear the DTCs and repeat the self-test (required to enable the courtesy lamp output driver if DTC U1000:00 is present). Test the system for normal operation. If DTC U3000:49 is present, install a new BCM. REFER to «BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) - WITHOUT INTELLIGENT ACCESS (IA)»(ref-517607-S10277508012012121200000) , or REFER to «BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) - WITH INTELLIGENT ACCESS (IA)»(ref-517607-S22029955872012121200000) . Test the system for normal operation. Connect: BCM Battery C2280A Battery Positive Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 1 VLN33 (GY/VT) - - Do the courtesy lamps illuminate? Yes: REMOVE the jumper wire. GO to 5 . No: REMOVE the jumper wire. REPAIR the courtesy lamp voltage supply circuit for an open.
  6. CHECK FOR CORRECT BCM OPERATION Disconnect the BCM connectors. Repair: corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins) corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins) pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary Reconnect the BCM connectors and make sure they seat and latch correctly.   1. DETERMINE IF BOTH PUDDLE LAMPS ARE INOPERATIVE Ignition OFF. Press and hold the courtesy lamp switch for 3 seconds. Are both puddle lamps inoperative? Yes: GO to 2 . No: GO to 3 .
  2. BYPASS THE BCM Press and hold the courtesy lamp switch to turn the interior courtesy lamps off. Disconnect: BCM C2280C. NOTE: If the jumper wire fails, REFER to the appropriate wiring diagrams to identify the possible causes of the circuit short. REFER to «OEM FUSE AND RELAY INFORMATION»(ref-485835) and «OEM WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-514995) . After the repair: If no DTCs are present, test the system for normal operation. If DTC U1000:00 is present, clear the DTCs and repeat the self-test (required to enable the courtesy lamp output driver if DTC U1000:00 is present). Test the system for normal operation. If DTC U3000:49 is present, install a new BCM. Press and hold the courtesy lamp switch for 3 seconds. Measure: Exterior Mirror Ground Inoperative Puddle Lamp Ground Connector-Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit Left Mirror C516-5 CLN25 (VT) - - Right Mirror C601-5 CLN25 (VT) - - Is the voltage greater than 11 volts? Yes: GO to 4 . No: REPAIR the puddle lamp voltage supply circuit for an open.

  1. CHECK THE DOOR AJAR SWITCH PIDs Ignition ON. Using a scan tool, view BCM PIDs . Monitor the BCM DOOR_SW_DRVR, DOOR_SW_PSGR, DOOR_SW_LR, DOOR_SW_RR PIDs while opening and closing all the doors. Do all the door ajar switch PID values agree with the door positions? Yes: GO to 5 . No: GO to 2 .
  2. BYPASS THE SUSPECT DOOR LATCH Disconnect: Suspect Door Latch. Does the PID indicate the door is closed? Yes: REMOVE the jumper wire. REPAIR door latch ground circuit in question for an open. No: REMOVE the jumper wire. GO to 4 .
