Scheme 1: SERVICE INDICATOR & WARNING LIGHTS

CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT

The CHECK ENGINE warning light indicates malfunctions in the electronic engine control system. If functioning correctly, the light comes on when ignition switch is turned to the ON position and goes out after engine starts. If light fails to glow with ignition switch on or remains on when running, a service need is indicated.

CHARGING SYSTEM WARNING LIGHT

This light will glow with the ignition switch in the ON or START position until the engine starts. The light may also glow when there is a heavy electrical load on the system. If the electrical load is reduced and the light remains on, the electrical system needs to be checked.

OIL PRESSURE WARNING LIGHT

The light should come on briefly until the engine starts. If the light remains on while engine is running, there is low oil pressure. Check the oil level immediately. DO NOT operate vehicle with oil pressure light on.

BRAKE WARNING LIGHT

The BRAKE warning light indicates that either the parking brake is on or the brake fluid level is low. The light should come on briefly when ignition switch is turned to the ON position and go out after engine is started, and the parking brake is released. If the light stays on, servicing is needed.

CHECK COOLANT WARNING LIGHT

The CHECK COOLANT light indicates that the engine coolant level is low. The light should come on briefly when ignition switch is turned to the START position and should go out after engine starts. If the light stays on, check coolant level.

FUEL CUTOUT LIGHT

FUEL CUTOUT light indicates that the fuel pump shutoff switch has been triggered. Light should come on briefly when ignition switch is turned to START position and should go out after engine starts. If light stays on, fuel pump shutoff switch needs to be reset. See FUEL PUMP SHUTOFF SWITCH under CAUTIONS & WARNINGS.

LOW FUEL WARNING LIGHT

LOW FUEL light indicates that the fuel tank is less than 1/8 full. Light should come on briefly when ignition switch is turned to START position and should go out after engine starts. If light stays on, fuel tank is less than 1/8 full.

LIFTGATE AJAR WARNING LIGHT

LIFTGATE AJAR light indicates that the rear liftgate is open. Light will come on when ignition switch is turned to ON position and the liftgate is open.

HEADLIGHT WARNING CHIME

Chime sounds if driver's door is opened when parking lights or headlights are on. The chime will sound until the lights are turned off or the door is closed.
