Engine Ignition System - 3.0L (4V): Removal & Installation Ford Escape II

Removal and Installation

LH side

1. Remove the air cleaner. For additional information, refer to «INTAKE AIR DISTRIBUTION & FILTERING - 3.0L (4V)»(ref-344099) . RH side
2. Remove the upper intake manifold. For additional information, refer to «ENGINE - 3.0L (4V)»(ref-344117) . Both sides
3. Disconnect the ignition coil electrical connectors.
4. Remove the bolts and the ignition coils. To install, tighten to 7 Nm (62 lb-in).
5. To install, reverse the removal procedure. Apply a small amount of dielectric grease to the inside of the ignition coil boots before attaching to the spark plugs.

Scheme 4

1. Remove the ignition coils. For additional information, refer to «IGNITION COIL-ON-PLUG»(ref-344124-S10616352332009101600000) .
2. Remove the spark plugs. To install, tighten to 15 Nm (133 lb-in).
3. Inspect the spark plugs. For additional information, refer to «ENGINE SYSTEM-GENERAL INFORMATION»(ref-344060) .
4. To install, reverse the removal procedure. Adjust the gap as necessary.
