  1. A1 CHECK CIRCUIT 6 (YE/LG) FOR CONTINUITY TO GROUND Key in OFF position. Disconnect: SJB C2280a. Measure the resistance between the SJB C2280a-14, circuit 6 (YE/LG), harness side and ground while pressing and releasing the horn switch. Is the resistance less than 5 ohms with the horn switch pressed and greater than 10,000 ohms with the horn switch released? Yes : GO to A6 . No : GO to A2.
  2. A2 CHECK THE CLOCKSPRING AND THE SWITCHES FOR CONTINUITY Depower the air bag system. Refer to «SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM»(ref-232255) . Disconnect: Clockspring C218a. Measure the resistance between the lower clockspring connector pin 4, component side, and the lower clockspring connector pin 5, component side while pressing and releasing the horn switch. Is the resistance less than 5 ohms with the horn switch pressed and greater than 10,000 ohms with the horn switch released? Yes : GO to A5 . No : GO to A3.
  3. A3 CHECK THE CLOCKSPRING FOR OPENS Remove the driver air bag. Refer to «SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM»(ref-232255) . Disconnect: Horn Switch Harness. Measure the resistance between the upper clockspring connector pin 4, component side, and the lower clockspring connector pin 4, component side. Measure the resistance between the upper clockspring connector pin 5, component side, and the lower clockspring connector pin 5, component side. Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? Yes : GO to A4. No : INSTALL a new clockspring. REFER to «SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM»(ref-232255) . TEST the system for normal operation.
  4. A4 CHECK THE STEERING WHEEL SWITCH HARNESS Inspect the steering wheel switch harness for chafing, opens or possible shorts. Is the steering wheel switch harness OK? Yes : INSTALL a new driver air bag. REFER to «SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM»(ref-232255) . TEST the system for normal operation. No : INSTALL a new steering wheel switch harness. TEST the system for normal operation.
  5. A5 CHECK CIRCUIT 57 (BK) FOR AN OPEN Measure the resistance between the clockspring C218a-5, circuit 57 (BK), harness side and ground. Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? Yes : REPAIR circuit 6 (YE/LG). REPOWER the air bag system. REFER to «SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM»(ref-232255) . TEST the system for normal operation. No : REPAIR circuit 57 (BK). REPOWER the air bag system. REFER to «SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM»(ref-232255) . TEST the system for normal operation.
  6. A6 CHECK THE HORNS Connect a fused (15A) jumper wire between the SJB C2280b-29, circuit 1682 (RD/LB), harness side and the SJB C2280b-31, circuit 1 (DB), harness side. Do the horns sound? Yes : REMOVE the jumper wire. GO to A9 . No : If only one horn does not sound, GO to A7. If both horns do not sound, GO to A8 .
  7. A7 CHECK CIRCUIT 1 (DB) FOR VOLTAGE Disconnect: Suspect Horn. With the jumper wire still connected, measure the voltage between the left horn C1101-1, circuit 1 (DB), harness side and ground, and between the right horn C1102-1, circuit 1 (DB), harness side and ground. Is the voltage greater than 10 volts? Yes : INSTALL a new horn. REFER to «HORN»(ref-232289-S10232901832006051600000) . TEST the system for normal operation. No : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
  8. A8 CHECK CIRCUIT 1 (DB) FOR AN OPEN Disconnect: Suspect Horn.
  9. A9 CHECK FOR CORRECT SJB OPERATION Disconnect all the SJB connectors. Check for: corrosion pushed-out pins Connect all the SJB connectors and make sure they seat correctly. Operate the system and verify the concern is still present. Is the concern still present? Yes : INSTALL a new SJB. REFER to «MULTIFUNCTION ELECTRONIC MODULES»(ref-232247) . TEST the system for normal operation. No : The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
