Removal and Installation
- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to «JACKING AND LIFTING»(ref-232183) .
- Drain the engine coolant. For additional information, refer to «ENGINE COOLING»(ref-232207) .
- If removing the heater core hoses, remove the heater hose tie.
- Release the clamps and remove the necessary heater hose(s).
- To install, reverse the removal procedure. NOTE: Lubricate the coolant hoses with plain water only if needed. Fill the engine cooling system. For additional information, refer to «ENGINE COOLING»(ref-232207) .

- Drain the engine coolant. For additional information, refer to «ENGINE COOLING»(ref-232207) .
- Release the clamps and remove the necessary heater hose(s).
- To install, reverse the removal procedure. Fill the engine cooling system. For additional information, refer to «ENGINE COOLING»(ref-232207) .

- If removing a single hose from the heater core, remove the heater hose retainer.
- Release the clamps and remove the necessary heater hoses.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure. Fill and bleed the engine cooling system. For additional information, refer to «ENGINE COOLING - HYBRID»(ref-232208) .

- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to «JACKING AND LIFTING»(ref-232183) .
- Drain the engine coolant. For additional information, refer to «ENGINE COOLING - HYBRID»(ref-232208) .
- Remove the lower splash shield.
- Release the 2 clamps and disconnect the 2 auxiliary coolant flow pump heater hoses.
- Disconnect the auxiliary coolant flow pump electrical connector.
- Remove the 2 bolts and the auxiliary coolant flow pump. To install, tighten to 7 Nm (62 lb-in).
- To install, reverse the removal procedure. Fill the engine cooling system. For additional information, refer to «ENGINE COOLING - HYBRID»(ref-232208) .

- Remove the RH A-pillar lower trim panel.
- Disconnect the blower motor electrical connector.
- Remove the 3 blower motor screws and the blower motor.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.

- Drain the engine coolant. For additional information, refer to «ENGINE COOLING»(ref-232207) or «ENGINE COOLING - HYBRID»(ref-232208) .
- Release the clamps and disconnect the heater hoses from the heater core.
- Remove the instrument panel. For additional information, refer to «INSTRUMENT PANEL AND CONSOLE»(ref-232249) .
- If equipped with A/C, remove the evaporator core housing. For additional information, refer to «EVAPORATOR CORE HOUSING»(ref-232228-S00616801322006051600000) .
- Remove the 3 nuts and the heater core housing. Transfer any necessary external components from the old evaporator core housing to the new evaporator core housing.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure. Fill and bleed the engine cooling system. For additional information, refer to «ENGINE COOLING»(ref-232207) or «ENGINE COOLING - HYBRID»(ref-232208) .
Note. If an evaporator core leak is suspected, the evaporator core must be vacuum leak tested before it is removed from the vehicle.
Note. Installation of a new accumulator is not required when repairing the air conditioning system except when there is physical evidence of contamination from a failed A/C compressor or damage to the accumulator.
- Recover the refrigerant. For additional information, refer to «CLIMATE CONTROL SYSTEM-GENERAL INFORMATION»(ref-232279) .
- Remove the instrument panel. For additional information, refer to «INSTRUMENT PANEL AND CONSOLE»(ref-232249) .
- Disconnect the vacuum hose.
- Disconnect the 2 evaporator core spring lock couplings. For additional information, refer to «CLIMATE CONTROL SYSTEM-GENERAL INFORMATION»(ref-232279) .
- Remove the 4 evaporator core housing nuts and the evaporator core housing. Transfer any necessary external components from the old evaporator core housing to the new evaporator core housing.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure. Lubricate the refrigerant system with the correct amount of PAG oil. For additional information, refer to «CLIMATE CONTROL SYSTEM-GENERAL INFORMATION»(ref-232279) . Evacuate, leak test, and charge the refrigerant system. Note. If a heater core leak is suspected, the heater core must be leak tested before the heater core is removed. For additional information, refer to CLIMATE CONTROL SYSTEM-GENERAL INFORMATION .

- Release the 2 clamps and disconnect the 2 heater hoses from the heater core.
- Remove the instrument panel. For additional information, refer to «INSTRUMENT PANEL AND CONSOLE»(ref-232249) .
- Remove the screw and the temperature blend door lever.
- Remove the 3 screws and the heater core cover.
- Remove the heater core from the housing.
