Steering Wheel Removal Ford Econoline E150

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

Note. For removal and installation procedures of column-mounted switches, see appropriate STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES article in the STEERING section.

Removal & Installation (Aerostar, Bronco II & Ranger)

Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove horn button cover retaining screws from rear of steering wheel. Disconnect horn electrical connector. Remove horn button assembly. To install, reverse removal procedure.

Removal & Installation (Bronco, "E" & "F" Series)

Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove horn cover retaining screw from rear of steering wheel. On vehicles equipped with speed control, squeeze "J" clip ground wire terminal firmly while removing it through hole in steering wheel. Remove horn button assembly. To install, reverse removal procedure.

Scheme 1: Removal & Installation (Bronco, "E" & "F" Series)
  1. Set front wheels in straight-ahead position. Remove horn button. See «HORN BUTTON»(/ford/econoline-e150/1987-1991/remont/steering-column/#steering-wheel-removal) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Place reference mark on steering wheel and shaft for reassembly reference. Remove steering wheel nut or bolt and damper (if equipped).
  2. Using Steering Wheel Puller (T67L-3600-A), remove steering wheel. To install, reverse removal procedure. Align reference marks. On nut type models, install a new retaining nut. See «TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS»(/ford/econoline-e150/1987-1991/remont/steering-column/#steering-wheel-removal__torque-specifications) table. Ensure damper is aligned with holes of steering wheel.
