Preliminary Checks
Confirm concern, operate all switches. Ensure battery is fully charged. Ensure windows are properly aligned. Check the following for possible cause of malfunction
- Faulty fuses or circuit breaker.
- Open or shorted supply circuit.
- Loose or corroded connectors.
- Poor ground connections.
- Faulty Master Switch. See WINDOW SWITCHES under TESTING.

RIGHT WINDOW SWITCH WITH DOOR LOCK & KEYLESS ENTRY TERMINALS
Right Window Switch Without Door Lock & Keyless Entry
- Remove window switch from vehicle. See WINDOW SWITCH under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Position raised portion of window switch knob with face right exposing 5 terminals. Use a self-powered test light or ohmmeter to test window switch.
- With window switch in neutral position, there should be continuity between terminals No. 1 and 2, and terminals No. 3 and 4. (Scheme 8) Terminal No. 5 should be disconnected from all other terminals.
- When raised portion of window switch rocker knob is pushed, closing windows, there should be continuity between terminals No. 1 and 5, and terminals No. 3 and 4. Terminal No. 2 should be disconnected from all other terminals.
- When depressed portion of window switch rocker knob is pushed, opening windows, there should be continuity between terminals No. 1 and 2, and terminals No. 4 and 5. Terminal No. 3 should be disconnected from all other terminals. If window switch does not test correctly, replace window switch.

Tailgate Window Switch
- Remove window switch from vehicle. See WINDOW SWITCH under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Use a self-powered test light or ohmmeter to test window switch. With switch in neutral position, there should be continuity between terminals No. 1, 2, and 3. (Scheme 9)
- With rear window glass up position, there should be continuity between terminals No. 1 and 5, and No. 2 and 4. With rear window glass in down position, there should be continuity between terminals No. 2 and 5, and No. 3 and 4. If window switch does operate as specified, replace tailgate mounted window switch.
Scheme 9
Regulator & Motor
- Remove door trim panel. See WINDOW REGULATOR & MOTOR under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Disconnect motor connector. Disconnect window regulator from motor.
- Supply power to motor connector with an ammeter in series. Current drew for no-load test should not exceed 4 amps, and should not fluctuate. Reversal of motor wire connections will reverse direction of motor rotation.
- Operate motor and observe current draw. Replace motor if current draw exceeds 4 amps. If window switch does not test correctly, replace window switch.
