DESCRIPTION & OPERATION
With the ignition switch in RUN position, battery voltage is applied to the master power window switch via the Electronic Timer Alarm Control System (ETACS) Electronic Control Unit (ECU).
The driver's power window switch provides power and ground for the passenger power window switch and motor. The master power window switch contains a solid state control unit that allow the driver's window to be completely lowered with one press of switch. A lock switch prevents passenger window operation.
The ETACS ECU allows windows to be operated for approximately 30 seconds after the ignition key is turned to ACC or LOCK position. Windows will not operate when doors are opened.
Description
Power windows do not operate when ignition switch is in ON position. Possible causes are
- Open circuit in power window switch circuit or harness.
- Faulty power window switch.
- Faulty power window motor.
Power windows can be operated for 30 seconds with ignition switch in LOCK position, even though a door is open. Possible causes are
- Open door switch input circuit.
- Faulty door switch.
- Faulty ETACS-ECU.
Windows cannot be operated for 30 seconds after ignition switch is turned to ACC or LOCK position. Only possible cause is ETACS-ECU. Replace as needed. ETACS-ECU is located behind lower left corner of instrument panel.
Windows can be operated for more than 30 seconds after ignition switch is turned to ACC or LOCK position. Only possible cause is ETACS-ECU. Replace as needed. ETACS-ECU is located behind lower left corner of instrument panel.
Only passenger power window switch is operational. Driver's switch does not function. Possible cause is driver's (main) switch.
Passenger's power window cannot be operated with dedicated switch. Driver's power window switch will only operate passenger window. Possible cause is passenger power window switch.
