BRAKE SYSTEM WARNING LIGHT
With engine running, BRAKE warning light will come on to indicate there is a problem with either parking brake switch, that parking brake is applied or that brake fluid in reservoir is below prescribed level. To test light, turn ignition key to ON position with engine off. When engine is started, light should go off.
Before driving vehicle, release parking brake fully and ensure brake warning light goes out. If not, check reservoir for fluid level. If fluid level is low, cause should be located and repaired immediately.
CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT
This light indicates a malfunction of an exhaust gas related component, system is not functioning properly and emission requirements are not being satisfied. This light will also come on briefly when ignition key is turned to ON position and go off when engine starts. If light comes on while driving, or does not come on with key in ON position, repair immediately.
ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM WARNING LIGHT
This light comes on if there is a malfunction in anti-lock braking system. It should come on briefly when ignition key is turned to ON position, and then go out when engine starts. If light comes on when driving, stop car in a safe place and shut off engine. Restart engine and drive vehicle at approximately 6 MPH or higher for at least 20 seconds. If light goes out, there is no abnormal condition. If light stays on or comes on again, anti-lock braking system is not functioning.
POWER/ECONOMY INDICATOR (AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE)
When ignition key is turned to ON position, POWER or ECONOMY light stays on, depending on which is set.
OD OFF INDICATOR (AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE)
OD OFF indicator will come on when overdrive control switch is placed in OFF position.
THEFT-ALARM INDICATOR
When theft-alarm system has been armed, indicator (located in instrument cluster) will come on and then go off in 20 seconds, indicating system is armed.
TEMPERATURE GAUGE
Indicates engine coolant temperature. Indicator will normally stay near center while driving, but may rise slightly in congested traffic or when engine is under a heavy load. If indicator enters Red zone while driving, engine is overheating. Stop vehicle as quickly as possible and investigate. If coolant level appears normal and overheating persists, have car checked as soon as possible.
OIL PRESSURE
Gauge indicates amount of oil pressure with engine running at normal operating temperature. If low or no oil pressure is indicated, stop engine as soon as possible. Do not drive until cause of low oil pressure is corrected. This gauge does not indicate amount of oil in crankcase.
