HEATED MIRROR INOPERATIVE
- Turn ignition on. Turn rear window defogger on. If rear window defogger operates properly, go to next step. If rear window defogger does not operate properly, repair rear window defogger as necessary. See «REAR WINDOW DEFOGGERS & HEATED MIRRORS»(ref-25071) article.
- Turn ignition off. Access power mirror assembly harness connector. Disconnect power mirror assembly harness connector. Check continuity between ground and terminal No. 3 (Black wire) at power mirror assembly harness connector. (Scheme 7) If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, repair open in Black wire between power mirror assembly harness connector and ground.
- Turn ignition on. Turn rear window defogger switch on. Measure voltage at terminal No. 1 (Light Blue/Yellow wire) at power mirror assembly harness connector. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, go to step 5.
- Check power mirror assembly wiring. If problem exists, repair as necessary. If problem does not exist, replace power mirror assembly. See «POWER MIRROR ASSEMBLY»(ref-154979-S17030845492003060400000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Turn ignition off. Check fuse No. 20 (10-amp) in fuse block. If fuse is okay, go to next step. If fuse is blown, repair short to ground in Light Blue/Yellow wire between fuse block and appropriate power mirror assembly. See «POWER DISTRIBUTION»(ref-141298-S36882864892003022100000) in SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS article in ELECTRICAL.
- Turn ignition on. Turn rear window defogger switch on. Measure voltage at input side of fuse No. 20. If battery voltage exists, repair open in wiring between fuse block and appropriate power mirror assembly. If battery voltage does not exist, repair open in Black/White wire between fuse block and rear window defogger switch. See «POWER DISTRIBUTION»(ref-141298-S36882864892003022100000) in SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS article in ELECTRICAL.
POWER MIRROR MOTOR
- Remove front door trim panel to gain access to power mirror wire connector. See «DOOR TRIM PANEL»(ref-154979-S41268974072003060600000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Disconnect wire harness connector to power mirror switch.
- Using two jumper wires: Connect one to a 12-volt source. Connect the other to a good body ground. See «POWER MIRROR MOTOR TEST»(ref-154979-S04723946892003060400000) table for proper wire connections at the switch connector. see scheme 6 POWER MIRROR MOTOR TEST Mirror Operation Apply 12 Volts To Terminal No. Apply Ground To Terminal No. Driver's Side Up 2 6 Down 6 2 Left 6 1 Right 1 6 Passenger's Side Up 9 6 Down 6 9 Left 6 10 Right 10 6
- If results shown in table are not obtained, check for open or shorted circuit. Replace mirror assembly as necessary.
POWER MIRROR SWITCH
Remove power mirror switch and disconnect harness connector. See POWER MIRROR SWITCH under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Check continuity between appropriate terminals at mirror switch (component side) with switch in specified position. See POWER MIRROR SWITCH CONTINUITY TEST table. see scheme 6 If continuity is not as specified, replace power mirror switch.

POWER MIRROR SWITCH CONTINUITY TEST
POWER FOLD-AWAY MIRROR MOTOR
Note. Battery must be fully charged prior to performing this test.
- Remove the appropriate door trim panel retaining fasteners. See «DOOR TRIM PANEL»(ref-154979-S41268974072003060600000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Remove power mirror electrical connector push-pin from inner door panel.
- Disconnect mirror electrical connector and position as shown. (Scheme 7)
- Depress the mirror "fold" switch and using a voltmeter check pin 7 for 12 volts. If battery voltage is not present, check wiring and or fuse for open. If voltage is present, go to next step.
- Depress the mirror "unfold" switch and using a voltmeter check pin 4 for 12 volts. If battery voltage is not present, check wiring and or fuse for open. If voltage is present, go to next step.
- Check for ground at terminal No. 3. If ground is not present, check wiring for open. See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-154979-S29719441082003060300000). If ground is present, go to next step.
- If testing concluded that 12 volts is present at terminals No. 4 and 7, and a good ground is present, the system up to the mirror is functioning properly. Replace the side view mirror assembly. See «POWER MIRROR ASSEMBLY»(ref-154979-S17030845492003060400000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.

POWER FOLD-AWAY MIRROR SWITCH
- Remove power mirror switch from mounting position. See «POWER MIRROR SWITCH»(ref-154979-S23248959792003060300000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Using an ohmmeter, test for continuity between the terminals of the switch. (Scheme 8)and (Scheme 9). NOTE: When testing using the chart in (Scheme 8) and (Scheme 9), be certain to read the chart correctly. Example: When testing left mirror "DOWN", terminals No. 1, 9, 10 will show continuity to each other, and terminals No. 3, 4, 5 will show continuity to each other.
- If test results are not as specified, replace the switch.
