SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM
| CAUTION | When battery is disconnected, vehicle computer and memory systems may lose memory data. Driveability problems may exist until computer systems have completed a relearn cycle. See COMPUTER RELEARN PROCEDURES article in GENERAL INFORMATION section before disconnecting battery. |
PRETEST INSPECTION
Before proceeding with diagnosis, the following precautions must be followed
- Ensure self-diagnostic tests apply to vehicle being tested. See BODY CONTROL COMPUTER TESTS DIRECTORY table.
- Vehicle must have a fully charged battery and functional charging system.
- Always start at «TEST 1A - IDENTIFYING VEHICLE EQUIPMENT & SYSTEM PROBLEMS»(ref-10844-S09986441642000111300000) . Starting with any other test may result in incorrect results.
- Only perform test steps indicated. It is NOT necessary to perform all steps in a test.
- VEHICLE COMMUNICATIONS should only be used when instructed to do so by another test. Always start at TEST 1A.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position before disconnecting or connecting components.
- Use extreme care when connecting or disconnecting wiring during testing to prevent accidental grounding or shorting.
- DO NOT use a test light in place of a voltmeter.
- Always disconnect DRB after use.
- Always disconnect DRB before charging battery.
- Always perform TEST VER-1 after repairs are made.
DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE
Note. Before proceeding with diagnosis, certain precautions must be followed. See PRETEST INSPECTION under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
ENTERING ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTICS
- Before entering on-board diagnostics, refer to «PRETEST INSPECTION»(ref-10844-S19079215512000111300000). Turn ignition off. Attach appropriate 1994 cartridge to DRB. Connect DRB to data link connector. see scheme 1
- Turn all accessories off. Turn ignition on. All character positions will glow and copyright information will appear on DRB screen for a few seconds. Display will then change to DRB menu.
- If DRB displays an error message or if screen is blank, refer to VEHICLE COMMUNICATIONS (ALWAYS start at TEST 1A). Testing of NO RESPONSE messages may be found in appropriate BODY CONTROL MODULE TESTS.
- The following DRB modes can be accessed from DRB menu: VEHICLES TESTED, HOW TO USE, CONFIGURE and SELECT SYSTEM.
SELF-DIAGNOSTIC TESTS
Note. In the following self-diagnostic tests, illustrations are courtesy of Chrysler Corp.
TEST 1A - IDENTIFYING VEHICLE EQUIPMENT & SYSTEM PROBLEMS
Note. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . When directed to go to next step, disregard step if vehicle is not equipped with module being tested.
- Connect DRB to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located under instrument cluster, next to center console. If DRB is not operational, see «VEHICLE COMMUNICATIONS»(ref-10844-S19612478492000111300000). If DRB is operational, go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to ON position. Using DRB, select body system. If DRB does not display BUS OPERATIONAL, see VEHICLE COMMUNICATIONS. If DRB displays BUS OPERATIONAL, go to next step.
- Using DRB, select body computer. If DRB displays NO RESPONSE, go to «TEST 53A»(ref-10844-S35941687252000111300000). If DRB does not display NO RESPONSE, go to next step.
- If DRB displays TURN IGNITION ON, go to «TEST 54A»(ref-10844-S27272600042000111300000). If DRB does not display TURN IGNITION ON, go to next step.
- Using DRB, select Powertrain Control Module (PCM). If DRB displays NO RESPONSE, go to «TEST 56A»(ref-10844-S10623806632000111300000). If DRB does not display NO RESPONSE, go to next step.
- Using DRB, read body computer trouble codes. If any trouble codes are displayed, go to TEST 1B. If no trouble codes are displayed, go to next step. NOTE: TEST 16A through TEST 25J are related to A/C-heater systems. Test procedures for A/C-heater systems may be found in 1994 AIR CONDITIONING & HEATING SERVICE & REPAIR, DOMESTIC CARS, LIGHT TRUCKS & VANS manual.
- Using DRB, select Automatic Temperature Control (ATC) system. If DRB displays NO RESPONSE, refer to 1994 AIR CONDITIONING & HEATING SERVICE & REPAIR, DOMESTIC CARS, LIGHT TRUCKS & VANS manual. If DRB does not display NO RESPONSE, go to next step.
- Using DRB, select Overhead Travel Information System (OTIS) module. If DRB displays NO RESPONSE, go to «TEST 15B»(ref-10844-S37515233442000111300000). If DRB does not display NO RESPONSE, see TEST 1A DIAGNOSTIC TEST DIRECTORY table for specific diagnosis.

BODY CONTROL MODULE TROUBLE CODES
TEST 2A - IDENTIFYING INSTRUMENT CLUSTER PROBLEMS
Diagnosis of the instrument cluster is separated into 6 categories. Identify problem area(s) listed in INSTRUMENT CLUSTER DIAGNOSTIC TEST DIRECTORY table and perform indicated test(s).

INSTRUMENT CLUSTER DIAGNOSTIC TEST DIRECTORY
TEST 2B - INSTRUMENT CLUSTER GAUGE PROBLEM
Note. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS . Perform TEST VER-1 after each repair.

- If all instrument cluster gauges are inoperative, go to TEST 2C. Using DRB, actuate each instrument cluster gauge from low to high. If any gauges do not pass actuation test, go to TEST 7A. If gauges pass actuation test, go to next step.
- Stop actuation test. Check temperature operation. If temperature gauge is not operating properly, go to TEST 6A. If temperature gauge is operating properly, go to next step.
- Check fuel gauge operation. If fuel gauge is not operating properly, go to TEST 8A. If fuel gauge is operating properly, go to next step.
- Check speedometer operation. If speedometer is not operating properly, go to TEST 9A. If speedometer is operating properly, go to next step.
- Start engine. Using DRB, read engine RPM. If DRB displays more than 400 RPM, replace instrument cluster. If DRB displays less than 400 RPM, replace body control module.
TEST 2C - REPAIRING INSTRUMENT CLUSTER POWER SUPPLY
Note. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS . Perform TEST VER-1 after each repair.
| CAUTION | Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting any module connector. |
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Remove and inspect fuse No. 17. (Scheme 58) If fuse is open, go to TEST 2D. If fuse is okay, reinstall fuse. Go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to ON position. Using DRB in voltmeter mode, check voltage on fuse No. 17 (Red/White wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, go to step 7). If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect instrument cluster Black connector. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Check voltage on instrument cluster Black connector terminal No. 6 (Red/White wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Red/White wire. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Check voltage on instrument cluster Black connector terminal No. 3 (Violet/Brown wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Violet/Brown wire. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Check voltage on instrument cluster Black connector terminal No. 2 (White/Black wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open White/Black wire. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Using DRB in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of instrument cluster Black connector terminal No. 1 (Black/Light Green wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Black/Light Green wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace instrument cluster.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect ignition switch connector. (Scheme 59) Turn ignition switch to ON position. Using DRB in voltmeter mode, check voltage on ignition switch connector terminal No. 9 (Red wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Red wire. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance of Red/White wire between ignition switch connector terminal No. 8 and fuse No. 17. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Red/White wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace ignition switch.

TEST 2D - REPAIRING INSTRUMENT CLUSTER IGNITION SUPPLY
Note. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS . Perform TEST VER-1 after each repair.

- Using DRB in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of fuse No. 17 connector (Red/White wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace fuse. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Disconnect instrument cluster connectors. Check resistance of fuse No. 17 connector (Red/White wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace instrument cluster and fuse. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Disconnect Transmission Control Module (TCM) connector. TCM is located in engine compartment between left front fender and battery. Measure resistance of fuse No. 17 (Red/White wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace TCM and fuse. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) connector. BCM is located behind right kick panel. Measure resistance of fuse No. 1 (Red/White wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace BCM and fuse. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, and vehicle is not equipped with Flexible Fuel Module (FFM), repair short to ground in Red/White wire. If vehicle is equipped with FFM, go to next step.
- Disconnect FFM connector. FFM is located in trunk behind trunk liner on rear passenger seat lower crossmember. Measure resistance of fuse No. 17 (Red/White wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace FFM and fuse. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Red/White wire and replace fuse.
TEST 3A - REPAIRING INSTRUMENT CLUSTER SENSE CIRCUITS
Note. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS . Perform TEST VER-1 after each repair.
| CAUTION | Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting any module connector. |
- If speedometer does not operate, go to TEST 9A. If speedometer operates improperly, replace odometer. If speedometer operates properly and vehicle is not a Dodge, go to TEST 3B. If vehicle is a Dodge, go to next step.
- Using DRB, read cluster ID. If DRB displays CLUSTER ID DODGE, go to step 6). If DRB does not display CLUSTER ID DODGE, turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect instrument cluster connectors. Go to next step.
- Connect jumper wire between instrument cluster Black connector terminal No. 10 (Orange/Dark Blue wire) and ground. If DRB displays CLUSTER ID DODGE, replace instrument cluster. If DRB does not display CLUSTER ID DODGE, disconnect jumper wire. Go to next step.
- Gain access to Body Control Module (BCM). BCM is located behind right kick panel. With connectors connected, connect jumper wire between BCM Gray connector terminal No. 12 (Orange/Dark Blue wire) and ground. If DRB displays CLUSTER ID DODGE, repair open Orange/Dark Blue wire. If DRB does not display CLUSTER ID DODGE, go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect and inspect BCM Gray connector. Repair connector as necessary. If connector is okay, replace BCM. NOTE: English speedometer head displays MPH larger than KM/H.
- If speedometer is not an English unit, go to step 9). If speedometer is an English unit, use DRB to read instrument cluster mode status. If DRB displays MIC MODE KM/H, repair or replace instrument cluster as necessary. See «INSTRUMENT PANEL»(ref-10859) article in ACCESSORIES/SAFETY EQUIPMENT. If DRB does not display MIC MODE KM/H, go to next step.
- Disconnect instrument cluster connectors. Using DRB, read instrument cluster mode status. If DRB displays MIC MODE KM/H, repair or replace instrument cluster as necessary. See «INSTRUMENT PANEL»(ref-10859) article in ACCESSORIES/SAFETY EQUIPMENT. If DRB does not display MIC MODE KM/H, go to next step.
- Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) connectors. Using DRB in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of BCM Gray connector terminal No. 7 (Light Blue wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Light Blue wire. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace BCM.
- Using DRB, read instrument cluster mode status. If DRB displays MIC MODE MPH, repair or replace instrument cluster as necessary. See «INSTRUMENT PANEL»(ref-10859) article in ACCESSORIES/SAFETY EQUIPMENT. If DRB does not display MIC MODE MPH, go to next step.
- Ensure ignition switch is in OFF position. Disconnect instrument cluster connectors and BCM connectors. Using DRB in voltmeter mode, check voltage on BCM Gray connector terminal No. 7 (Light Blue wire). If voltage is more than 10 volts, repair short to battery voltage in Light Blue wire and replace instrument cluster. If voltage is less than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Reconnect BCM connectors. Connect jumper wire between instrument cluster Black connector terminal No. 9 (Light Blue wire) and ground. If DRB displays MIC MODE MPH, replace instrument cluster. If DRB does not display MIC MODE MPH, go to next step.
- Disconnect jumper wire. Connect jumper wire between BCM Gray connector terminal No. 7 (Light Blue wire) and ground. If DRB displays MIC MODE MPH, repair open Light Blue wire. If DRB does not display MIC MODE MPH, go to next step.
- Ensure ignition switch is in OFF position. Disconnect and inspect BCM Gray connector. Repair connector as necessary. If connector is okay, replace BCM.
TEST 3B - REPAIRING INSTRUMENT CLUSTER SENSE CIRCUITS
Note. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS . Perform TEST VER-1 after each repair.
| CAUTION | Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting any module connector. |
- Using DRB, read cluster ID. If DRB displays CLUSTER ID CHRY/EAGL, go to step 3). If DRB does not display CLUSTER ID CHRY/EAGL, turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect instrument cluster connectors. Using DRB, read cluster ID. If DRB displays CLUSTER ID CHRY/EAGL, replace instrument cluster. If DRB does not display CLUSTER ID CHRY/EAGL, go to next step.
- Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) connectors. BCM is located behind right kick panel. Using DRB in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of BCM Gray connector terminal No. 12 (Orange/Dark Blue wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Orange/Dark Blue wire. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace BCM. NOTE: Metric speedometer head displays KM/H larger than MPH.
- If speedometer is not a metric unit, go to step 5) If speedometer is a metric unit, use DRB to read instrument cluster mode status. If DRB displays MIC MODE KM/H, repair or replace instrument cluster as necessary. See «INSTRUMENT PANEL»(ref-10859) article in ACCESSORIES/SAFETY EQUIPMENT. If DRB does not display MIC MODE KM/H, go to next step.
- Ensure ignition switch is in OFF position. Disconnect instrument cluster connectors and BCM connectors. Using DRB in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of BCM Gray connector terminal No. 7 (Light Blue wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Light Blue wire. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace BCM.
- Ensure ignition switch is in OFF position. Disconnect instrument cluster connectors and BCM connectors. Using DRB in voltmeter mode, check voltage on BCM Gray connector terminal No. 7 (Light Blue wire). If voltage is more than 10 volts, repair short to battery voltage in Light Blue wire and replace instrument cluster. If voltage is less than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Reconnect BCM connectors. Connect jumper wire between instrument cluster Black connector terminal No. 9 (Light Blue wire) and ground. If DRB displays MIC MODE MPH, repair or replace instrument cluster. See «INSTRUMENT PANEL»(ref-10859) article in ACCESSORIES/SAFETY EQUIPMENT. If DRB does not display MIC MODE MPH, go to next step.
- Disconnect jumper wire. Connect jumper wire between BCM Gray connector terminal No. 7 (Light Blue wire) and ground. If DRB displays MIC MODE MPH, repair open Light Blue wire. If DRB does not display MIC MODE MPH, replace BCM.
TEST 4A - DIAGNOSING WARNING LAMP PROBLEMS
Note. Oil pressure warning lamp and brake warning lamp cannot be actuated using DRB.
- If a problem exists with oil pressure warning lamp, go to TEST 10A. If a problem does not exist with oil pressure warning lamp, use DRB to actuate each instrument cluster warning lamp. If warning lamps turn on then off, actuator test passes. Go to next step. If actuator test fails, go to TEST 4B.
- Stop actuation test. Identify faulty lamp. Perform appropriate test listed in DIAGNOSING WARNING LAMP PROBLEMS table. If no warning lamp problems exist, system is operating properly at this time.

- Using DRB, stop test. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Remove and inspect inoperative lamp. Replace lamp If necessary. If lamp is okay, go to next step.
- Inspect instrument cluster printed circuit board. Replace printed circuit board if necessary. If printed circuit board is okay, repair or replace instrument cluster. See «INSTRUMENT PANEL»(ref-10859) article in ACCESSORIES/SAFETY EQUIPMENT section.
TEST 4C - REPAIRING COMMUNICATION W/ TRANS CNTRL MODULE
Note. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS Perform TEST VER-1 after each repair.

- Using DRB, read body computer trouble codes. If DRB displays TRANS PRNDL FAILED, go to step 4). If DRB does not display TRANS PRNDL FAILED, go to next step.
- Using DRB, actuate PRNDL lamps. If each lamp illuminates individually then all at once, test passes. Go to next step. If test fails, repair or replace instrument cluster. See appropriate «INSTRUMENT PANEL»(ref-10859) article in ACCESSORIES/SAFETY EQUIPMENT.
- Using DRB, select Transmission Control Module (TCM). Select monitors in state displays. Monitor Shift Lever Position (SLP) state of shift lever status. Apply parking brake. Move gear shift lever through all positions. If SLP state matches gear shift lever position, repair or replace instrument cluster. See appropriate «INSTRUMENT PANEL»(ref-10859) article in ACCESSORIES/SAFETY EQUIPMENT. If SLP state does not match gear shift lever position, repair transmission. NOTE: Low battery or momentary Chrysler Collision Detection (CCD) bus failure may cause trouble codes to set.
- Using DRB, erase trouble codes. Start and run engine for 2 minutes. Turn engine off. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Using DRB, read body computer trouble codes. If TRANS PRNDL FAILED trouble code does not return, system is operating properly at this time. If TRANS PRNDL FAILED trouble code returns, go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect Transmission Control Module (TCM) connector. TCM is located in engine compartment between left front fender and battery. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Using DRB in voltmeter mode, check voltage on TCM connector terminal No. 43 (Violet/Brown wire). If voltage is less than 2 volts, repair open Violet/Brown wire. If voltage is more than 2 volts, go to next step.
- Check voltage on TCM connector terminal No. 4 (White/Black wire). If voltage is less than 2 volts, repair open White/Black wire. If voltage is more than 2 volts, replace TCM.
TEST 5A - DIAGNOSING INSTRUMENT CLUSTER ILLUMINATION PROBLEM
Note. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS .

- Using DRB, read Body Control Module (BCM) fault codes. If DRB displays PANEL LAMP PWM OUTPUT FAILURE, go to TEST 5B. If DRB does not display PANEL LAMP PWM OUTPUT FAILURE, go to next step.
- If problem exists in Automatic Temperature Control (ATC) head display dimming, replace ATC head located behind A/C-heater control panel. If no problem exists in ATC head display dimming, go to next step.
- Ensure parking lamp switch is in OFF position. If parking lamps illuminate with parking lamp switch in OFF position, go to «TEST 5C»(ref-10844-S26509748032000111300000) . If parking lamps do not illuminate, go to next step.
- Turn parking lamps on. If parking lamps do not illuminate, go to «TEST 5D»(ref-10844-S39378402902000111300000) . If parking lamps illuminate, go to next step.
- Move dimmer switch to high. If both turn signal indicators and high beam indicator illuminate with parking lights on, go to step 7). If indicators do not illuminate, go to next step.
- Turn parking lamps off. Ensure ignition switch is in OFF position. Disconnect instrument cluster connectors. Using DRB in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of instrument cluster Gray connector terminal No. 3 (Black wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Black wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair or replace instrument cluster. See «INSTRUMENT PANEL»(ref-10859) article in ACCESSORIES/SAFETY EQUIPMENT section.
- Using DRB, read panel lamp sensor voltage. Rotate dimmer switch to low then high. If voltage changes evenly between 10 and zero volts, go to «TEST 5E»(ref-10844-S00649219202000111300000) . If voltage does not change evenly between 10 and zero volts, and DRB displays 0.0 VOLT, go to «TEST 5F»(ref-10844-S35607104242000111300000) . If DRB does not displays 0.0 VOLT, and panel lamps illuminate properly, system is operating properly at this time. If panel lamps do not illuminate properly, go to next step.
- Disconnect headlamp switch. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) connectors. BCM is located behind right kick panel. Using DRB in volt-meter mode, check voltage on BCM Bone connector terminal No. 4 (Orange/Dark Blue wire). If voltage is more than 10 volts, repair short to battery voltage in Orange/Dark Blue wire. If voltage is less than 10 volts, replace BCM.
TEST 5B - REPAIRING PRKNG LAMP SW OUTPUT CKT FOR SHORT TO GND

- Using DRB, erase trouble codes. Start and run engine for 2 minutes. Turn engine off. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Using DRB, read Body Control Module (BCM) codes. If PANEL LAMP PWM OUTPUT FAILURE trouble code does not return, system is operating properly at this time. If PANEL LAMP PWM OUTPUT FAILURE returns, go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) connector. BCM is located in behind right kick panel. Using DRB in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of BCM Gray connector terminal No. 8 (Orange wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace BCM. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Disconnect headlamp switch connector. Check resistance of BCM Gray connector terminal No. 8 (Orange wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace headlamp switch. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Disconnect radio connector. Check resistance of BCM Gray connector terminal No. 8 (Orange wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace radio. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Disconnect Automatic Temperature Control (ATC) head connector. ATC head connector is located behind A/C-heater control panel. Using DRB in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of BCM Gray connector terminal No. 8 (Orange wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace ATC head. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Disconnect manual A/C climate control head connector. Manual A/C climate control head is located behind A/C-heater control panel. Using DRB in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of BCM connector terminal No. 8 (Orange wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace manual A/C climate control head. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Orange wire.
TEST 5C - REPAIRING PRKNG LAMP SW OUTPUT CKT FOR SHORT TO BATT
Note. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS . Perform TEST VER-1 after each repair.
Note. Low battery or momentary Chrysler Collision Detection (CCD) bus failure may cause trouble codes to set.
- Disconnect headlamp switch connector. If parking lamps turn off, replace parking lamp switch. If parking lamps do not turn off, go to next step.
- If vehicle is equipped with a parking lamp relay go to next step. Parking lamp relay is located behind dash, below parking lamp switch. If vehicle is not equipped with parking lamp relay, disconnect Body Control Module (BCM). BCM is located behind right kick panel. If parking lamps turn off, replace BCM. If parking lights do not turn off, repair short to battery voltage in Black/Yellow wire between BCM and headlamp switch.
- Disconnect parking lamp relay. If parking lamps do not turn off, repair short to battery voltage in Black/Yellow wire between Body Control Module (BCM) and parking lamp relay. If parking lamps turn off, go to next step.
- Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance between parking lamp relay terminals "B" (Pink/Red wire) and "D" (Black/Yellow wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace parking light relay. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Disconnect BCM connectors. Using DRB in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of parking lamp relay connector terminal "A" (Light Blue wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Light Blue wire. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace BCM.
TEST 5D - REPAIRING PARKING LAMP SWITCH POWER SUPPLY
Note. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS . Perform TEST VER-1 after each repair.
Note. Low battery or momentary Chrysler Collision Detection (CCD) bus failure may cause trouble codes to set.
- Remove and inspect fuse No. 9. (Scheme 58) If fuse is open, go to «TEST 5G»(ref-10844-S09977828462000111300000). If fuse is okay, use DRB in voltmeter mode to check voltage on fuse No. 9 (Pink/White wire). If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to step 4). If voltage is less than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Gain access to Power Distribution Center (PDC). PDC is located in engine compartment in front of left strut tower. Remove and inspect fuse "I". (Scheme 60) If fuse is open, repair short to ground in Pink/White wire and replace fuse. If fuse is okay, go to next step.
- Using DRB in voltmeter mode, check voltage on fuse "I" connector (Black wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair or replace PDC as necessary. If voltage is more than 10 volts, repair open Black wire.
- Reinstall fuse. Disconnect headlamp switch. Using DRB in voltmeter mode, check voltage on headlamp switch 7-pin connector terminal No. 4 (Pink/Red wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Pink/Red wire. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Connect jumper wire between headlamp switch 7-pin connector terminals No. 4 (Pink/Red wire) and No. 5 (Black/Yellow wire). If parking lamps illuminate, replace headlamp switch. If parking lamps do not illuminate, go to next step.
- Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) connector. BCM is located behind right kick panel. Using DRB in voltmeter mode, check voltage on BCM Bone connector terminal No. 23 (Black/Yellow wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Black/Yellow wire between headlamp switch and BCM. If voltage is more than 10 volts, repair open Black/Yellow wire between headlamp switch and parking lamps.

TEST 5E - REPAIRING OPEN PANEL LAMPS DRIVER CIRCUIT

- Ensure parking lamps are on. Using DRB in voltmeter mode, check voltage on Body Control Module (BCM) Gray connector terminal No. 8 (Orange wire). Rotate dimmer switch from low to high. If voltage does not increase from zero to 12 volts, replace BCM. If voltage increases from zero to 12 volts, go to next step.
- Disconnect instrument cluster connectors. Check voltage on instrument cluster Gray connector terminal No. 1 (Orange wire). If voltage is less than 5 volts, repair open Orange wire. If voltage is more than 5 volts go to next step.
- If problem exists in instrument cluster dimming only, replace instrument cluster. See «INSTRUMENT PANEL»(ref-10859) article in ACCESSORIES/SAFETY EQUIPMENT section. If problem does not exist in instrument panel dimming only and problem exists in Overhead Travel Information System (OTIS), replace OTIS module. If problem does not exist in OTIS, go to next step.
- Remove and inspect inoperative panel lamp. Replace lamp if necessary. If lamp is okay, using DRB in voltmeter mode, check voltage on lamp connector (Orange wire). If voltage is less than 5 volts, repair open Orange wire between BCM and inoperative lamp. If voltage is more than 5 volts, repair open Black wire to inoperative lamp.
TEST 5F - DIAGNOSING PARKING LAMP SWITCH

Using DRB in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of headlamp switch 8-pin connector terminal No. 5 (Orange/Dark Blue wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Orange/Dark Blue wire. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance of Orange/Dark Blue wire between headlamp switch connector terminal No. 5 and BCM Bone connector terminal No. 4. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Orange/Dark Blue wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Using DRB in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of headlamp switch 8-pin connector terminal No. 2 (Black wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Black wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance between parking lamp/headlamp switch terminals No. 2 and No. 5. (Scheme 61) Slowly rotate dimmer switch from low to high. If resistance does not change from more than 9000 ohms to less than 2000 ohms, replace parking lamp/headlamp switch. If resistance changes from more than 9000 ohms to less than 2000 ohms, replace BCM.

- Replace fuse No. 9. (Scheme 58) Turn parking lamps on. If parking lamps illuminate without blowing fuse, repair is complete. If fuse blows, go to next step.
- Turn parking lamps off. Using DRB in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of fuse No. 9 connector (Pink/Red wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, short to ground in Pink/Red wire and replace fuse. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Disconnect headlamp switch connector. Check resistance of fuse No. 9 connector (Pink/Red wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace headlamp switch and replace fuse. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. 4 Disconnect instrument cluster connectors. Check resistance of fuse No. 9 connector (Pink/Red wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair or replace instrument cluster as necessary and replace fuse. See «INSTRUMENT PANEL»(ref-10859) article in ACCESSORIES/SAFETY EQUIPMENT section. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) connectors. Check resistance of fuse No. 9 connector (Pink/Red wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace BCM and replace fuse. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- If vehicle is equipped with parking lamp relay, go to next step. Parking lamp relay is located behind dash, below parking lamp switch. If vehicle is not equipped with parking lamp relay, repair short to ground in Pink/Red wire and replace fuse.
- Disconnect parking lamp relay. Check resistance of fuse No. 9 connector (Pink/Red wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace parking lamp relay and replace fuse. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Pink/Red wire.
TEST 6A - REPAIRING INSTRUMENT CLUSTER TEMPERATURE GAUGE

- Ensure engine cooling system is operating properly. Repair as necessary. If engine cooling system is okay, go to next step.
- Using DRB, select engine controller. If DRB does not display ENGINE CONTROLLER ACTIVE ON THE BUS, go to «TEST 56A»(ref-10844-S10623806632000111300000) . If DRB displays ENGINE CONTROLLER ACTIVE ON THE BUS, go to next step.
- Using DRB, read Powertrain Control Module (PCM) faults. If DRB displays ECT SENSOR VOLTAGE TOO HIGH, proceed to appropriate TESTS W/CODES article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE section below. If DRB does not display ECT SENSOR VOLTAGE TOO HIGH, go to next step.
- If DRB displays ECT SENSOR VOLTAGE TOO LOW, see appropriate TESTS W/CODES article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE section below. If DRB does not display ECT SENSOR VOLTAGE TOO LOW, replace PCM. PCM is located under air cleaner. «TESTS W/CODES - 3.3L»(ref-10827) «TESTS W/CODES - 3.5L»(ref-10832)
TEST 7A - REPAIRING FAULTY GAUGE
Note. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS . Perform TEST VER-1 after each repair.
Using DRB, stop actuation test. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Remove faulty gauge(s). Inspect printed circuit board and its connectors. If printed circuit board is not okay, replace defective circuit board. If printed circuit board is okay, replace defective gauge(s).
TEST 8A - REPAIRING FUEL GAUGE WARNING LAMP

- Ensure fuel tank is not empty. Check if fuel gauge indicates full all the time. If fuel gauge does not indicate full all the time, go to TEST 8B. If fuel gauge indicates full all the time, go to next step.
- Start engine. Using DRB, read body computer trouble codes. If DRB displays FUEL LEVEL SENDING UNIT, go to TEST 8B. If DRB does not display FUEL LEVEL SENDING UNIT, go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Access fuel pump connector. Connector is located on top of fuel tank and is accessible by removing access cover in floor of trunk. Disconnect fuel pump connector. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Go to next step.
- Using DRB, read fuel level sensor voltage. If voltage is more than 9 volts, replace fuel tank sending unit. If voltage is less than 9 volts, turn ignition switch to OFF position. Go to next step.
- Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) Gray connector. BCM is located behind right kick panel. Using DRB in ohmmeter mode, check resistance on BCM Gray connector terminal No. 23 (Dark Blue wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace BCM. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- If vehicle is equipped with Flexible Fuel Module (FFM), go to next step. FFM is located in trunk behind trunk liner on rear passenger seat lower crossmember. If vehicle is not equipped with FFM, repair short to ground in Dark Blue wire.
- Disconnect FFM connector. Using DRB in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of BCM connector terminal No. 23 (Dark Blue wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Dark Blue wire. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Check resistance of FFM connector terminal No. 3 (Light Blue/Black wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Light Blue/Black wire. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace FFM.
TEST 8B - REPAIRING FUEL GAUGE WARNING LAMP
Note. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS . Perform TEST VER-1 after each repair.

- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. If problem exists in fuel warning lamp only, replace Body Control Module (BCM). If problem does not exist in fuel warning lamp only, go to next step.
- If vehicle is equipped with Flexible Fuel Module (FFM), go to TEST 8C. FFM is located in trunk behind trunk liner on rear passenger seat lower crossmember. If vehicle is not equipped with FFM, go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Access fuel pump connector. Connector is located on top of fuel tank and is accessible by removing access cover in floor of trunk. Disconnect fuel pump connector. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Go to next step.
- Connect jumper wire between fuel pump connector terminals No. 2 (Dark Blue wire) and No. 4 (Black/Tan wire) Using DRB, read fuel level status. If DRB displays 0.0 VOLT, replace fuel level sensor. If DRB does not display 0.0 VOLT, disconnect jumper wire. Go to next step.
- Connect jumper wire between fuel pump connector terminal No. 2 (Dark Blue wire) and ground. If DRB displays 0.0 VOLT, repair open Dark Blue wire. If DRB does not display 0.0 Volt, disconnect jumper wire. Go to next step.
- With BCM connectors connected, connect jumper wire between BCM Gray connector terminal No. 23 (Dark Blue wire) and ground. If DRB displays 0.0 VOLT, repair open Dark Blue wire. If DRB does not display 0.0 VOLT, disconnect jumper wire. Go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect and inspect BCM Gray connector. Repair connector as necessary. If connector is okay, replace BCM.
TEST 8C - REPAIRING FUEL GAUGE WARNING LAMP
Note. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS Perform TEST VER-1 after each repair.

- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect Flexible Fuel Module (FFM) connector. FFM is located in trunk behind trunk liner on rear passenger seat lower crossmember. Connect jumper wire between FFM connector terminal No. 4 (Dark Blue wire) and ground. Using DRB, read fuel level status. If DRB does not display 0.0 VOLT, repair open Dark Blue wire. If DRB displays 0.0 VOLT, go to next step.
- Disconnect jumper wire. Using DRB in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of FFM connector terminal No. 5 (Black/Tan wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Black/Tan wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Using DRB in voltmeter mode, check voltage on FFM connector terminal No. 6 (Red/White wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Red/White wire. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Access fuel pump connector. Connector is located on top of fuel tank and is accessible by removing access cover in floor of trunk. Disconnect fuel pump connector. Go to next step.
- Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance between FFM connector terminal No. 2 (Light Blue/Red wire) and fuel pump connector terminal No. 4 (Black/Tan wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Light Blue/Red wire or Black/Tan wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance between FFM connector terminal No. 3 (Light Blue/Black wire) and fuel pump connector terminal No. 2 (Dark Blue wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Light Blue/Black wire or Dark/Blue wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, reconnect fuel pump connector. Go to next step.
- Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance between FFM connector terminals No. 2 (Light Blue/Red wire) and No. 3 (Light Blue/Black wire). If resistance is more than 1000 ohms, replace fuel level sensor. If resistance is less than 1000 ohms, go to next step.
- Disconnect FFM connectors at fuel tank and at FFM main harness. Connect FFM main harness at fuel tank (by-passing FFM). If fuel gauge does not operate properly, repair fuel level sensor for interference or replace as necessary. If fuel gauge operates properly, replace FFM.
TEST 9A - REPAIRING FAULTY SPEEDOMETER

- If speedometer operates, go to TEST 3A. If speedometer does not operate, turn ignition switch to ON position. Using DRB, read engine controller faults. If DRB does not display ACTIVE ON THE BUS, go to «TEST 56A»(ref-10844-S10623806632000111300000) . If DRB displays ACTIVE ON THE BUS, go to next step.
- Raise and support vehicle. Start engine. If vehicle is equipped with traction control, turn traction control system off. On all vehicles, place gear shift lever in Drive. Go to next step.
- Using DRB, read Vehicle Speed Signal (VSS) status. If DRB displays increased vehicle speed as vehicle is accelerated, replace body control module. If DRB does not display increased vehicle speed as vehicle is accelerated, see appropriate TESTS W/CODES article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE section below. «TESTS W/CODES - 3.3L»(ref-10827) «TESTS W/CODES - 3.5L»(ref-10832)
TEST 10A - REPAIRING OIL PRESS SW SENSE CKT FOR SHORT TO GND
Note. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS . Perform TEST VER-1 after each repair.

- Turn ignition switch to ON position. If oil warning lamp does not illuminate, go to TEST 10B. If oil warning lamp illuminates, turn ignitions switch to OFF position. Check engine oil level. Adjust oil level if necessary. If oil level is within specification, go to next step.
- Remove oil pressure switch. Switch is located on lower left side of engine. Connect hand-held oil pressure gauge in place of switch and start engine. If gauge reading is less than 4 psi (.28 kg/cm 2 ) at idle, check mechanical condition of engine for low oil pressure. Repair as necessary. If gauge reading is 4 psi (.28 kg/cm 2 ) or greater at idle, go to next step.
- Allow engine to reach normal operating temperature. If gauge reading is less than 4 psi (.28 kg/cm 2 ) with warm engine and at idle, check mechanical condition of engine for low oil pressure. Repair as necessary. If gauge reading is 4 psi (.28 kg/cm 2 ) or greater with warm engine and at idle, go to next step.
- Check if oil pressure warning lamp is off. If oil pressure warning lamp is off, replace oil pressure switch. If oil pressure warning lamp is on, go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect instrument cluster Gray connector. Using DRB in ohmmeter mode, check resistance on instrument cluster Gray connector terminal No. 5 (Gray wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Gray wire. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair or replace instrument cluster as necessary. See «INSTRUMENT PANEL»(ref-10859) article in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT.
TEST 10B - REPAIRING OPEN OIL PRESSURE SWITCH SENSE CIRCUIT

- Disconnect oil pressure switch connector, located next to oil filer. Connect jumper wire between oil pressure switch connector terminal No. 2 (Gray wire) and ground. If oil pressure warning lamp illuminates, replace oil pressure switch. If oil pressure warning lamp does not illuminate, go to next step.
- Leave jumper wire connected to oil pressure switch connector terminal No. 2 (Gray wire). Disconnect instrument cluster Gray connector. Using DRB in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of instrument cluster Gray connector terminal No. 5 (Gray wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Gray wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Remove and inspect oil pressure warning lamp. Replace lamp if necessary. If lamp is okay, repair or replace instrument cluster as necessary. See «INSTRUMENT PANEL»(ref-10859) article in ACCESSORIES/SAFETY EQUIPMENT.
TEST 11A - REPAIRING SEAT BELT SWITCH CKT FOR SHORT TO GROUND

- Turn ignition switch to ON position. Ensure left front seat belt is not fastened. Using DRB, read seat belt switch status. If DRB does not display SEAT BELT CLOSED, go to TEST 12A. If DRB displays SEAT BELT CLOSED, go to next step.
- Fasten left front seat belt. If DRB displays SEAT BELT OPEN, system is operating properly at this time. If DRB does not display SEAT BELT OPEN, go to next step.
- Disconnect left front seat belt switch connector. Connector is located on left side door pillar, just behind seat. Using DRB, read seat belt switch status. If DRB does not display SEAT BELT CLOSED, replace left front seat belt switch. If DRB displays SEAT BELT CLOSED, go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) Gray connector. BCM is located behind right kick panel. Using DRB in ohmmeter mode, check resistance on BCM Gray connector terminal No. 5 (Light Green/Red wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Light Green/Red wire. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace BCM.
TEST 12A - REPAIRING OPEN SEAT BELT SWITCH CIRCUIT

- Disconnect left front seat belt switch connector. Connector is located on left side door pillar, just behind seat. Connect jumper wire between seat belt switch connector terminals No. 1 (Light Green/Red wire) and No. 2 (Black wire). Using DRB, read seat belt switch status. If DRB displays SEAT BELT CLOSED, replace left front seat belt switch. If DRB does not display SEAT BELT CLOSED, go to next step.
- Connect jumper wire between chassis ground and seat belt switch connector terminal No. 1 (Light Green/Red wire). If DRB displays SEAT BELT CLOSED, repair open Black wire. If DRB does not display SEAT BELT CLOSED, go to next step.
- Access Body Control Module (BCM). BCM is located behind right kick panel. With BCM connectors connected, connect jumper wire between chassis ground and BCM Gray connector terminal No. 5 (Light Green/Red wire). If DRB displays SEAT BELT CLOSED, repair open Light Green/Red wire. If DRB does not display SEAT BELT CLOSED, replace BCM.
TEST 13A - DIAGNOSING PARKING BRAKE WARNING LAMP

- If vehicle is equipped with Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS), see «ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM»(ref-10861) article in BRAKES section. If vehicle is not equipped with ABS, disengage parking brake if set. Ensure parking brake lever moves freely. If BRAKE warning lamp does not illuminate with empty brake fluid reservoir, go to TEST 13B. Turn ignition switch to ON position. If BRAKE warning lamp illuminates, go to «TEST 14A»(ref-10844-S00999846772000111300000) . If BRAKE warning lamp does not illuminate, go to next step.
- Depress parking brake. If BRAKE warning lamp does not illuminate, go to TEST 13C. If BRAKE warning lamp does not illuminate, release parking brake. Crank engine while monitoring BRAKE warning lamp. If BRAKE warning lamp does not illuminate, go to «TEST 13D»(ref-10844-S19001271882000111300000) . If BRAKE warning lamp illuminates, system is operating properly at this time.
TEST 13B - REPAIRING OPEN BRAKE FLUID LEVEL SWITCH CIRCUIT

- Disconnect brake fluid level switch connector. Brake fluid level switch connector is located at brake fluid reservoir. Connect jumper wire between brake fluid level switch connector terminals No. 1 (Black wire) and No. 2 (Gray/Black wire). Turn ignition switch to ON position. If BRAKE warning lamp illuminates, replace brake fluid level switch. If BRAKE warning lamp does not illuminate, disconnect jumper wire. Go to next step.
- Connect jumper wire between brake fluid level switch connector terminal No. 2 (Gray/Black wire) and ground. If BRAKE warning lamp illuminates, repair open Black wire. If BRAKE warning lamp does not illuminate, go to next step.
- Leave jumper wire connected. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect instrument cluster Gray connector. Using DRB in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of instrument cluster Gray connector terminal No. 6 (Gray/Black wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Gray/Black wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Remove and inspect BRAKE warning lamp. Replace lamp if necessary. If lamp is okay, repair or replace instrument cluster. See «INSTRUMENT PANEL»(ref-10859) article in ACCESSORIES/SAFETY EQUIPMENT section.
TEST 13C - REPAIRING OPEN PARKING BRAKE SWITCH CIRCUIT

- Disconnect parking brake switch connector. Connector is located above brake pedal bracket. Connect jumper wire between parking brake switch connector (Gray/Black wire) and ground. If BRAKE warning lamp illuminates, replace parking brake switch. If BRAKE warning lamp does not illuminate, go to next step.
- Leave jumper wire connected. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect instrument cluster Gray connector. Using DRB in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of instrument cluster Gray connector terminal No. 6 (Gray/Black wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Gray/Black wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Remove and inspect BRAKE warning lamp. Replace lamp if necessary. If lamp is okay, repair or replace instrument cluster. See «INSTRUMENT PANEL»(ref-10859) article in ACCESSORIES/SAFETY EQUIPMENT.
TEST 13D - REPAIRING OPEN PARKING BRAKE SWITCH CIRCUIT

- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect instrument cluster Gray connector. Remove and inspect BRAKE warning lamp. replace lamp if necessary. If lamp is okay, depress parking brake. Place gear shift lever in Drive. Go to next step.
- Using DRB in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of instrument cluster Gray connector terminal No. 6 (Gray/Black wire) while cranking engine. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair or replace instrument cluster as necessary. See «INSTRUMENT PANEL»(ref-10859) article in ACCESSORIES/SAFETY EQUIPMENT. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Disconnect ignition switch connector. (Scheme 59) Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance of Gray/Black wire between instrument cluster Gray connector terminal No. 6 and ignition switch connector terminal No. 7. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Gray/Black wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace ignition switch.
TEST 14A - REPAIRING SHORTED PARKING BRAKE CIRCUIT

- Check and adjust brake fluid level as necessary. Disconnect parking brake switch connector. Connector is located above brake pedal bracket. If BRAKE warning lamp does not illuminate, replace parking brake switch. If BRAKE warning lamp illuminates, go to next step.
- Disconnect brake fluid level switch connector. Brake fluid level switch connector is located at brake fluid reservoir. If BRAKE warning lamp does not illuminate, replace brake fluid level switch. If BRAKE warning lamp illuminates, go to next step
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect instrument cluster Gray connector. Using DRB in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of instrument cluster Gray connector terminal No. 6 (Gray/Black wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair or replace instrument cluster as necessary. See «INSTRUMENT PANEL»(ref-10859) article in ACCESSORIES/SAFETY EQUIPMENT section. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Disconnect ignition switch connector. (Scheme 59) Using DRB in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of instrument cluster Gray connector terminal No. 6 (Gray/Black wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Gray/Black wire. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace ignition switch.
TEST 15A - DIAGNOSING OVERHEAD TRAVEL INFORMATION SYS (OTIS)
Note. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS . Perform TEST VER-1 after each repair.

- Connect DRB to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located under instrument cluster, next to center console. If Overhead Travel Information System (OTIS) is blank or if DRB displays NO RESPONSE, go to TEST 15B. If OTIS screen is not blank and DRB does not display NO RESPONSE, go to next step.
- Using DRB, start OTIS self test. If any OTIS segment fails to illuminate, or OTIS screen displays FAIL or CCD, replace OTIS module. If OTIS segments illuminate, and OTIS screen does not display FAIL or CCD, go to next step.
- Rotate instrument cluster dimmer control to low. If OTIS does not respond to instrument cluster dimmer control, go to TEST 5A. If OTIS responds to dimmer control, go to next step.
- Check if outside temperature display is inoperative or wrong. If temperature display does not operate properly, go to «TEST 15E»(ref-10844-S12399389862000111300000) . If outside temperature display is operating properly, go to next step. NOTE: The Miles Per Gallon (MPG), instantaneous fuel economy, and distance to empty calculations (displays) are only accurate to plus or minus 5 percent.
- Check if Miles Per Gallon (MPG) display and instantaneous fuel economy display are operating properly. If MPG display or fuel economy display are not operating properly, go to «TEST 15D»(ref-10844-S40032660272000111300000) . If MPG display or fuel economy display are operating properly, go to next step.
- Check for OTIS response to all of its switches. If OTIS fails to respond to any of its switches, go to «TEST 15C»(ref-10844-S25863769862000111300000) . If OTIS responds to all its switches, go to next step.
- Check if distance to empty display is inoperative or wrong. If distance to empty display is inoperative or wrong, go to «TEST 8A»(ref-10844-S37647641652000111300000) . If distance to empty is operating properly, go to next step.
- Check if trip odometer display is inoperative or wrong. If trip odometer is inoperative or wrong, go to «TEST 15C»(ref-10844-S25863769862000111300000) . If trip odometer is operating properly, go to next step.
- Check if estimated time display is inoperative or wrong. If estimated time display is inoperative or wrong, replace body control module. If estimated time display is operating properly, go to next step.
- Check if compass is inoperative or wrong. If compass is operating properly, OTIS is operating properly at this time. If compass is inoperative or wrong, go to next step.
- Locate open area away from large metal objects. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Press and hold compass/temperature button until CAL is displayed. Driving slowly, perform 3 complete circles. CAL lamp will turn off and compass will be calibrated.
TEST 15B - OTIS SCREEN BLANK
Note. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS . Perform TEST VER-1 after each repair.

- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect OTIS 4-pin connector. Using DRB in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of OTIS 4-pin connector terminal No. 3 (Black/Light Green wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Black/Light Green wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to ON position. Using DRB in voltmeter mode, check voltage on OTIS 4-pin connector terminal No. 4 (Dark Blue/White wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Dark Blue/White wire. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Connect jumper wire between OTIS 4-pin connector terminal No. 1 (White/Black wire) and ground. Using DRB, read CCD bus status. If DRB does not display BUS SHORTED TO GROUND, repair open White/Black wire. If DRB displays BUS SHORTED TO GROUND, disconnect jumper wire. Go to next step.
- Connect jumper wire between OTIS 4-pin connector terminal No. 2 (Violet/Brown wire) and ground. If DRB does not display BUS SHORTED TO GROUND, repair open Violet/Brown wire. If DRB displays BUS SHORTED TO GROUND, replace OTIS module.
TEST 15C - TESTING OTIS SWITCHES
Note. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS . Perform TEST VER-1 after each repair.

- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Leave key in ignition switch. Open left front door. If chime does not sound, go to «TEST 35J»(ref-10844-S31677702582000111300000) . If chime sounds, go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to ON position. Close left front door. Press each OTIS button and listen for beep. If beep is not heard, replace OTIS module. If beep is heard, switches are working properly at this time.
TEST 15D - TESTING OTIS MILEAGE & DISTANCE FUNCTIONS

- Using DRB, read engine controller faults. If DRB displays NO VEHICLE SPEED SENSOR SIGNAL, see «TESTS W/CODES - 3.3L»(ref-10827) in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE section. If DRB does not display NO VEHICLE SPEED SENSOR SIGNAL, go to next step.
- If DRB displays THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR VOLTAGE HIGH, see appropriate TESTS W/CODES article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE section below. If DRB does not display THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR VOLTAGE HIGH, go to next step.
- If DRB displays THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR VOLTAGE LOW, see appropriate TESTS W/CODES article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE section below. If DRB does not display THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR VOLTAGE LOW, replace body control module. «TESTS W/CODES - 3.3L»(ref-10827) «TESTS W/CODES - 3.5L»(ref-10832)
TEST 15E - REPAIRING OTIS AMBIENT TEMPERATURE SENSOR

- Using DRB, read outside temperature. If DRB does not display 185°F, go to step 4). If DRB displays 185°F, go to next step.
- Disconnect ambient (outside) temperature sensor connector. Sensor is located behind front bumper, left of center. Turn ignition switch to OFF position, then back to ON position. If DRB temperature display drops below 0°F, replace ambient temperature sensor. If DRB temperature display does not drop below 0°F, go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) Gray connector. BCM is located behind right kick panel. Using DRB in ohmmeter mode, check resistance on BCM Gray connector terminal No. 10 (Violet/Light Green wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Violet/Light Green wire. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace BCM.
- Disconnect ambient (outside) temperature sensor connector. Sensor is located behind front bumper, left of center. Connect jumper wire between ambient temperature sensor connector terminals No. 1 (Gray/Tan wire) and No. 2 (Violet/Light Green wire). Turn ignition switch to OFF position, then back to ON position. Using DRB, read outside temperature. If DRB displays 185°F, replace ambient temperature sensor. If DRB does not display 185°F, go to next step.
- Connect jumper wire between chassis ground and ambient temperature sensor connector terminal No. 2 (Violet/Light Green wire). Turn ignition switch to OFF position, then back to ON position. If DRB displays 185°F, repair open Gray/Tan wire. If DRB does not display 185°F, go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) Gray connector. BCM is located behind right kick panel. Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance of Violet/Light Green wire between BCM Gray connector terminal No. 10 and ambient temperature sensor connector terminal No. 2. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace BCM. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Violet/Light Green wire.
Note. A break in test sequence occurs at this point. Diagnostic TEST 16A and TEST 16B are related to manual A/C-heater system. Diagnostic TEST 17A through TEST 25J are related to Automatic Temperature Control (ATC) system. Test procedures for manual or automatic A/C-heater systems may be found in 1994 AIR CONDITIONING & HEATING SERVICE & REPAIR, DOMESTIC CARS, LIGHT TRUCKS & VANS manual.
TEST 26A - DIAGNOSING WIPER SYSTEM PROBLEMS
- Diagnosis of the wiper system is separated into 6 categories. With ignition switch in ON position, operate wiper system in following modes: High Speed Low Speed Intermittent Speed Wash Mode (Wipers Off)
- Identify problem area(s) listed in TEST 26A DIAGNOSTIC TEST DIRECTORY table and perform indicated test(s) in order listed.

TEST 26B - REPAIRING WIPER SWITCH, CONTROLLER & POWER SUPPLY

- Using DRB, actuate wiper motor low speed test. If wiper motor operates in low speed mode, go to «TEST 26C»(ref-10844-S27176878782000111300000). If wiper motor does not operate in low speed mode, go to next step.
- Stop wiper motor low speed mode actuation test. Using DRB, actuate wiper motor high speed test. If wiper motor operates in high speed mode, go to TEST 26C. If wiper motor does not operate in high speed mode, go to next step.
- Stop high speed mode actuation test. Access Power Distribution Center (PDC). PDC is located on left front fender apron. Inspect "C" cartridge fuse in PDC. (Scheme 60) If fuse is blown, go to TEST 26C. If fuse is okay, go to next step.
- Remove "C" cartridge fuse from PDC. Using DRB in voltmeter mode, check voltage on "C" cartridge fuse connector (Black wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Black wire between "C" cartridge fuse and battery positive terminal. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Install "C" cartridge fuse. Remove on/off wiper relay (relay No. 6) from PDC. Using DRB in voltmeter mode, check voltage on on/off wiper relay connector terminal "D" (Red/Dark Blue wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Red/Dark Blue wire between "C" cartridge fuse and on/off wiper relay. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Connect jumper wire between on/off wiper relay connector terminals "B" (Light Green/Black wire) and "D" (Red/Dark Blue wire). If wiper motor operates, go to «TEST 27A»(ref-10844-S26917659382000111300000). If wiper motor does not operate, go to next step.
- Remove high/low wiper relay (relay No. 10) from PDC. Ensure jumper wire is still connected between on/off wiper relay connector terminals "B" (Light Green/Black wire) and "D" (Red/Dark Blue wire). Using DRB in voltmeter mode, check voltage on high/low wiper relay connector terminal "B" (Light Green/Black wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Light Green/Black wire between on/off wiper relay and high/low wiper relay. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Remove jumper wire from on/off wiper relay terminals. Connect jumper wire between on/off wiper relay connector terminal "D" (Red/Yellow wire) and high/low wiper relay connector terminal "E" (Brown/White wire). If wiper motor does not operate in low speed mode, go to «TEST 28A»(ref-10844-S25392923012000111300000). If wiper motor operates in low speed mode, go to next step.
- Remove jumper wire from on/off wiper relay and high/low wiper relay terminals. Using DRB in voltmeter mode, check voltage on on/off wiper relay connector terminal "A" (Dark Blue wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, go to «TEST 29A»(ref-10844-S42213458702000111300000). If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Using DRB, actuate wiper motor in low speed mode. Using DRB in voltmeter mode, check voltage on on/off wiper relay connector terminal "C" (Dark Green/Yellow wire). If voltage does not pulsate between zero and more than 0.2 volt, go to step 12). If voltage pulsated between zero and more than 0.2 volt, go to next step.
- Install on/off wiper relay in PDC. Using DRB in voltmeter mode, check voltage on high/low wiper relay connector terminal "B" (Light Green/Black wire). If voltage does not pulsate between zero and battery voltage, replace on/off wiper relay. If voltage pulsates between zero and battery voltage, replace high/low wiper relay.
- Access Body Control Module (BCM). BCM is located behind right kick panel. Using DRB, actuate wiper motor in low speed mode. Using DRB in voltmeter mode, backprobe BCM Bone connector terminal No. 1 (Dark Green/Yellow wire). If voltage pulsates between zero and more than 0.2 volt, repair open Dark Green/Yellow wire between BCM and on/off wiper relay. If voltage does not pulsate between zero and more than 0.2 volt, replace BCM.
TEST 26C - WIPER SWITCH MODE SENSE CIRCUIT
Note. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS . Perform TEST VER-1 after each repair.

- Stop wiper motor actuation test. Using DRB, read intermittent wiper sensor status. Observe DRB while gradually moving wiper switch from off to high position. If DRB displays INTRMT WIPE 0V (zero volts) or more, replace Body Control Module (BCM). If DRB does not display INTRMT WIPE 0V (zero volts) or more, go to next step.
- Disconnect multifunction switch connector. Connector is located on upper part of steering column, behind trim cover. Using DRB in voltmeter mode, check voltage on multifunction switch connector terminal No. 3 (Dark Blue wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Dark Blue wire between switch and fuse No. 10. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Disconnect BCM Bone connector. BCM is located behind right kick panel. Using DRB in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of BCM Bone connector terminal No. 16 (Dark Green/Red wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Dark Green/Red wire. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance of Dark Green/Red wire between multifunction switch connector terminal No. 1 and BCM Bone connector terminal No. 16. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Dark Green/Red wire between switch and BCM. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Reconnect multifunction switch connector. Turn wiper switch to low or high position. Using DRB in voltmeter mode, backprobe multifunction switch connector terminal No. 16 (Dark Green/Red wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, replace multifunction switch. If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace BCM.
TEST 26D - WIPER MOTOR OUTPUT CIRCUIT SHORT

- Remove on/off wiper relay (relay No. 6) and high/low wiper relay (relay No.10) from Power Distribution Center (PDC). (Scheme 60) PDC is located on left front fender apron. Using DRB in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of on/off wiper relay connector terminal "D" (Red/Dark Blue wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Red/Dark Blue wire and replace "C" cartridge fuse. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Using DRB in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of on/off wiper relay connector terminal "B" (Light Green/Black wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Light Green/Black wire and replace "C" cartridge fuse. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Disconnect wiper motor connector. Connector is located on engine compartment firewall, just right of power brake booster. Using DRB in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of high/low wiper relay connector terminal "E" (Brown/White wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Brown/White wire and replace "C" cartridge fuse. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Using DRB in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of high/low wiper relay connector terminal "D" (Red/Yellow wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Red/Yellow wire and replace "C" cartridge fuse. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace wiper motor and replace "C" cartridge fuse.
TEST 27A - REPAIRING LOW SPEED (ON/OFF) WPR MTR RLY & CNTRLS

- Remove jumper wire. Remove high/low wiper relay (relay No. 10) from Power Distribution Center (PDC). (Scheme 60) PDC is located on left front fender apron. Using DRB in voltmeter mode, check voltage on high/low wiper relay connector terminal "A" (Dark Blue wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, go to «TEST 29A»(ref-10844-S42213458702000111300000). If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Using DRB, actuate wiper motor in low speed mode. Using DRB in voltmeter mode, backprobe on/off wiper relay (relay No.6) connector terminal "C" (Dark Green/Yellow wire). If voltage pulsates between zero and more than 0.2 volt, replace on/off wiper relay. If voltage does not pulsate between zero and 0.2 volt, go to next step.
- Access Body Control Module (BCM). BCM is located behind right kick panel. Using DRB, actuate wiper motor in low speed mode. Using DRB in voltmeter mode, backprobe BCM Bone connector terminal No. 1 (Dark Green/Yellow wire). If voltage pulsates between zero and more than 0.2 volt, repair open Dark Green/Yellow wire between BCM and on/off wiper relay. If voltage does not pulsate between zero and more than 0.2 volt, replace BCM.
TEST 28A - INOPERATIVE WIPER MOTOR LOW SPEED
Note. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS . Perform TEST VER-1 after each repair.
- Disconnect wiper motor connector. Connector is located on engine compartment firewall, just right of power brake booster. Connect jumper wire between on/off wiper relay (relay No. 6) connector terminal "D" (Red/Dark Blue wire) fused battery circuit and high/low wiper relay (relay No. 10) connector terminal "E" (Brown/White wire) in Power Distribution Center (PDC). PDC is located on left front fender apron. Go to next step.
- Using DRB in voltmeter mode, check voltage on wiper motor connector terminal No. 4 (Brown/White wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Brown/White wire between high/low wiper relay and wiper motor. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Using DRB in ohmmeter mode check resistance of wiper motor connector terminal No. 3 (Black wire). If resistance is more than ohms 5 ohms, repair open Black wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace wiper motor.
TEST 29A - WIPER SWITCH POWER SUPPLY
Note. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS . Perform TEST VER-1 after each repair.
- Remove and inspect fuse No. 10 in junction block. (Scheme 58) Junction block is located behind end cover, on left side of instrument panel. If fuse is blown, go to TEST 30A. If fuse is not blown, go to next step.
- Using DRB in voltmeter mode, check voltage on fuse No. 10 (Black/White wire). If voltage is more than 10 volts, repair open Black/White wire between fuse and relay. If voltage is less than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Disconnect ignition switch connector. Connector is located on upper part of steering column, behind trim cover. (Scheme 59) Using DRB in voltmeter mode, check voltage on ignition switch connector terminal No. 9 (Red wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Red wire. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance of Black/White wire between fuse No. 10 and ignition switch connector terminal No. 2. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Black/White wire between fuse and ignition switch. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace ignition switch.
TEST 30A - WIPER SWITCH POWER SUPPLY SHORT TO GROUND

- Disconnect multifunction switch connector. Connector is located on upper part of steering column, behind trim cover. Using DRB in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of multifunction switch connector terminal No. 3 (Dark Blue wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Dark Blue wire and replace fuse No. 10. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance between high/low wiper relay (relay No. 10) terminals "A" (Dark Blue wire) and "C" (Violet wire) in Power Distribution Center (PDC). PDC is located on left front fender apron. If resistance is less than 10 ohms, replace high/low wiper relay and fuse No. 10. If resistance is more than 10 ohms, go to next step.
- Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance between on/off wiper relay (relay No. 6) terminals "A" (Dark Blue wire) and "C" (Dark Green/Yellow wire). If resistance is less than 10 ohms, replace on/off wiper relay and fuse No. 10. If resistance is more than 10 ohms, replace multifunction switch and fuse No. 10.
TEST 31B - WIPER MOTOR DOES NOT SHUT OFF

- Remove high/low wiper relay (relay No. 10) from Power Distribution Center (PDC). PDC is located on left front fender apron. (Scheme 60) If wiper motor stops operating, go to step 3). If wiper motor does not stop operating, go to next step.
- Using DRB in voltmeter mode, check voltage on high/low wiper relay connector terminal "D" (Red/Yellow wire). If voltage is more than 10 volts, repair short to battery voltage in Red/Yellow wire. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair short to battery voltage in Brown/White wire.
- Remove on/off wiper relay (relay No. 6). Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance between on/off wiper relay terminals "B" and "D". If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace on/off wiper relay. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Turn ignitions switch to OFF position. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) Bone connector. Using DRB in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of BCM Bone connector terminal No. 1 (Dark Green/Yellow wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair open Dark Green/Yellow wire. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to ON position. Ensure wiper switch is in OFF position. Using DRB in voltmeter mode, check voltage on BCM Bone connector terminal No. 16 (Dark Green/Red wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, replace BCM. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Disconnect multifunction switch connector. Connector is located on upper part of steering column, behind trim cover. Using DRB in voltmeter mode, check voltage on BCM bone connector terminal No. 16 (Dark Green/Red wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, replace multifunction switch. If voltage is more than 10 volts, repair short to battery voltage in Dark Green/Red wire.
TEST 32B - WIPER MOTOR DOES NOT SWITCH BETWEEN HIGH & LOW

- Disconnect wiper motor connector. Connector is located on engine compartment firewall, just right of power brake booster. Using DRB actuate wiper low speed. Using DRB in voltmeter mode, check voltage on wiper motor connector terminal No. 4 (Brown/White wire). If voltage does not pulsate between zero and 12 volts, go to step 3). If voltage pulsates between zero and 12 volts, go to next step.
- Stop actuation test. Substitute on/off wiper relay (relay No. 6) with high/low wiper relay (relay No. 10) in Power Distribution Center (PDC). PDC is located on left front fender apron. (Scheme 60) Using DRB, actuate wiper low speed. Using DRB in voltmeter mode, check voltage on wiper motor connector terminal No. 4 (Brown/White wire). If voltage does not pulsate between zero and 12 volts, replace high/low wiper relay. If voltage pulsates between zero and 12 volts, go to TEST 32C.
- Stop actuation test. Remove high/low wiper relay. Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance between high/low wiper relay terminals "B" (Light Green/Black wire) and "D" (Red/Yellow wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace high/low wiper relay. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) Bone connector. BCM is located behind right kick panel. Using DRB in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of BCM module Bone connector terminal No. 18 (Violet wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Violet wire. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Remove on/off wiper relay (relay No. 6). Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance between BCM connector terminals No. 1 (Dark Green/Yellow wire) and No. 18 (Violet wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short between Dark/Green Yellow wire and Violet wire. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace BCM.
TEST 32C - WIPER MOTOR DOES NOT SWITCH BETWEEN HIGH & LOW

- Stop actuation test. With high/low wiper relay (relay No. 10) removed, reinstall original on/off wiper relay. Using DRB in voltmeter mode, check voltage on high/low wiper relay connector terminal "A" (Dark Blue wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Dark Blue wire. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Reinstall high/low wiper relay. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) Bone connector. BCM is located behind right kick panel. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Using DRB in voltmeter mode, check voltage on BCM Bone connector terminal No. 18 (Violet wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Violet wire. If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace BCM.
TEST 33B - WIPER MOTOR ON/OFF WIPER RELAY CONTROL CIRCUIT

- Using DRB, read wiper park switch status. If DRB displays WIPER PK SW CLOSED, go to step 5). If DRB does not display WIPER PK SW CLOSED, go to next step.
- Disconnect multifunction switch connector. Connector is located on upper part of steering column, behind trim cover. If motor is not operating, replace multifunction switch. If motor is operating, go to next step.
- Remove on/off wiper relay (relay No. 6) from Power Distribution Center (PDC). PDC is located on left front fender apron. (Scheme 60) Reconnect multifunction switch connector and place wiper switch in low speed position. Using DRB in voltmeter mode, check voltage on on/off wiper relay connector terminal "C" (Dark Green/Yellow wire). If voltage is more than 0.2 volt, replace on/off wiper relay. If voltage is less than 0.2 volt, go to next step.
- Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) Bone connector. BCM is located behind right kick panel. Using DRB in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of on/off wiper relay connector terminal "C" (Dark Green/Yellow wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Dark Green/Yellow wire. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace BCM.
- Disconnect wiper motor connector. Connector is located on engine compartment firewall, just right of power brake booster. Using DRB, read wiper park switch status. If DRB does not display WIPER PK SW CLOSED, replace wiper motor. If DRB displays WIPER PK SW CLOSED, go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect BCM Bone connector. Using DRB in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of BCM Bone connector terminal No. 2 (Tan/Red wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Tan/Red wire. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace BCM.
TEST 33C - OPEN PARK SWITCH SENSE CIRCUIT

- Place wiper switch in low speed position. Using DRB, read wiper park switch status. Observe DRB closely, up to 30 seconds, during the following steps. DRB reading will change momentarily between closed and open, if at all, during sweep. Go to next step.
- If DRB reading toggles at least once WIPER PK SW OPEN/CLOSED, replace Body Control Module (BCM). BCM is located behind right kick panel. If DRB reading does not toggle at least once, go to next step.
- Disconnect wiper motor connector. Connector is located on engine compartment firewall, just right of power brake booster. Connect jumper wire between chassis ground and wiper motor connector terminal No. 1 (Tan/Red wire). If DRB displays WIPER PK SW CLOSED, replace wiper motor. If DRB does not display WIPER PK SW CLOSED, go to next step.
- Disconnect jumper wire. Connect jumper wire between chassis ground and BCM Bone connector terminal No. 2 (Tan/Red wire). Using DRB, read wiper park switch status. If DRB displays WIPER PK SW CLOSED, repair open Tan/Red wire. If DRB does not display WIPER PK SW CLOSED, replace BCM.
TEST 33D - WIPER MOTOR CONTROL CIRCUIT

Disconnect multifunction switch connector. Connector is located on upper part of steering column, behind trim cover. If wiper motor stops operating, replace multifunction switch. If wiper motor does not stop operating, replace body control module.
TEST 33E - WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH SIGNAL CIRCUIT

- Gain access to Body Control Module (BCM). BCM is located behind right kick panel. Leave BCM connectors connected. Using DRB in volt-meter mode, check voltage on BCM Bone connector terminal No. 16 (Dark Green/Red wire). If voltage is more than 10 volts, repair short to battery voltage in Dark Green/Red wire. If voltage is less than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Disconnect multifunction switch connector. Connector is located on upper part of steering column, behind trim cover. Ensure all doors are closed and courtesy lamps are off. Wait one minute. Go to next step.
- Using DRB in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of BCM Bone connector terminal No. 16 (Dark Green/Red wire). If resistance is 1150-1350 ohms, replace multifunction switch. If resistance is not 1150-1350 ohms, go to next step.
- Disconnect BCM Bone connector. Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance between chassis ground and BCM Bone connector terminal No. 16 (Dark Green/Red wire). If resistance is less than 3000 ohms, repair short to ground in Dark Green/Red wire. If resistance is more than 3000 ohms, go to next step.
- Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance between specified multifunction switch terminals with multifunction switch in specified position. See TEST 33E RESISTANCE SPECIFICATIONS table. If resistance is not within approximate specification, replace multifunction switch. If resistance is within approximate specification, replace BCM.

- Ensure washer fluid lines and nozzles are not damaged or restricted. Repair as necessary. Disconnect windshield washer pump connector. Using DRB in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of windshield washer pump connector terminal No. 2 (Black wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Black wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Press and hold windshield washer button on end of wiper/washer stalk. Using DRB in voltmeter mode, check voltage on windshield washer pump connector terminal No. 1 (Brown wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Brown wire between wiper/washer switch and windshield washer pump connector. If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace windshield washer pump.
TEST 35A - AUTO DOOR LOCK PROBLEM

- If vehicle is equipped with Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) module, go to TEST 36A. (Scheme 62) If vehicle is not equipped with RKE module, close all doors. Open front windows and remove ignition key. Go to next step.
- Lock and unlock both front doors at door lock switches. If doors fail to lock or unlock properly, perform appropriate test listed in TEST 35A DIAGNOSTIC DIRECTORY table. If doors lock and unlock properly, go to next step. - Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Leave key in ignition switch. Open left front door. Lock doors from any switch. If doors lock, go to «TEST 35J»(ref-10844-S31677702582000111300000). If doors do not lock, go to next step.
- If vehicle is equipped with speed sensitive locks, drive vehicle with all doors closed. Reach a vehicle speed above 15 MPH. If doors do not lock, go to «TEST 35K»(ref-10844-S38513712022000111300000). If doors lock, system is operating properly at this time.

TEST 35B - REPAIRING DOORS FAIL TO LCK & UNLCK FROM ANY SW

- Using DRB, actuate door lock relay. If doors do not lock, go to TEST 35C. If doors lock, use DRB to read door lock switch voltage. If voltage is more than 0.2 volt, go to «TEST 35G»(ref-10844-S35340172772000111300000) . If voltage is less than 0.2 volt, go to next step.
- Using DRB, read door lock switch voltage while depressing a door lock switch to LOCK position. If voltage is more than 1.7 volts, replace Body Control Module (BCM). BCM is located behind right kick panel. If voltage is less than 1.7 volts, go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect BCM Bone connector. Using DRB in voltmeter mode, check voltage on BCM Bone connector terminal No. 9 (Orange/White wire) while depressing any door lock switch. If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace BCM. If voltage is less than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Remove right front door trim panel. Disconnect door lock switch connector. Using DRB in voltmeter mode, check voltage on door lock switch connector terminal No. 4 (Pink wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Pink wire. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Using DRB in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of door lock switch connector terminal No. 1 (Orange/Violet wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Orange/Violet wire. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Connect jumper wire between door lock switch connector terminals No. 1 (Orange/Violet wire) and No. 4 (Pink wire). Using DRB in voltmeter mode, check voltage on door lock switch connector terminal No. 1 (Orange/Violet wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Orange/Violet wire. If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace both front door switches.
TEST 35C - REPAIRING DOORS FAIL TO LCK & UNLCK FROM ANY SW

- Using DRB, read door lock switch voltage. If voltage is more than 0.2 volt, go to «TEST 35G»(ref-10844-S35340172772000111300000). If voltage is less than 0.2 volt, remove door lock relay and door unlock relay from junction block. (Scheme 58) Junction block is located behind end cover, on left side of instrument panel. Go to next step.
- Using DRB in voltmeter mode, check voltage on door lock relay connector terminal "B" (Red wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Red wire. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Using DRB in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of door lock relay connector and door unlock relay connector terminals "D" (Black wire) and "E" (Black wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms at any terminal, repair open Black wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance between door lock relay terminals "A" (Orange/Black wire) and terminal "D" (Black wire), and between door unlock relay terminals "A" (Pink/Black wire) and terminal "D" (Black wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace relay. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance between door lock relay terminals "C" (Orange/White wire) and terminal "E" (Black wire), and between door unlock relay terminals "C" (Pink/Violet wire) and terminal "E" (Black wire). If resistance is not 65-85 ohms, replace relay. If resistance is 65-85 ohms, go to next step.
- Remove Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) module. (Scheme 62) Using DRB in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of door lock relay connector terminal "A" (Orange/Black wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Orange/Black wire. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Check resistance of door unlock relay connector terminal "A" (Pink/Black wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Pink/Black wire. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Reinstall door unlock relay. Check resistance of door lock relay connector terminal "A" (Orange/Black wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Orange/Black wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Gain access to Body Control Module (BCM). BCM is located behind right kick panel. Leave BCM connectors connected. Using DRB in volt-meter mode, check voltage on BCM Gray connector terminal No. 18 (Orange/White wire). Using DRB, observe voltage while actuating door lock relay. If voltage toggles between 1.0 volt and more than 10 volts, repair open Orange/White wire. If voltage does not toggle between 1.0 volt and more than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect and inspect BCM Gray connector. Repair connector as necessary. If connector is okay, replace BCM.
TEST 35D - ONE DOOR FAILS TO LOCK & UNLOCK FROM ANY SW
Note. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS . Perform TEST VER-1 after each repair.
- Remove key from ignition switch. Remove appropriate door trim panel. Disconnect door lock motor connector. Using DRB in voltmeter mode, check voltage on door lock motor connector terminal No. 1 (Orange/Black wire). Depress door lock switch to LOCK position. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Orange/Black wire. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Check voltage on door lock motor connector terminal No. 2 (Pink/Black wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Pink/Black wire. If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace door lock motor.
TEST 35E - ALL DOORS FAIL TO LOCK & UNLOCK FROM ONE SW
Note. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS . Perform TEST VER-1 after each repair.
- Remove appropriate door trim panel. Disconnect door lock switch connector. Using DRB in voltmeter mode, check voltage on door lock switch connector terminal No. 4 (Pink wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Pink wire. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Connect jumper wire between door lock switch connector terminals No. 1 (Orange/Violet wire) and No. 4 (Pink wire). Using DRB, read door lock switch voltage. If voltage is less than 8 volts, repair open Orange/Violet wire. If voltage is more than 8 volts, replace door lock switch.
TEST 35F - REPAIRING DOORS FAIL TO LOCK FROM ANY SWITCH

- Using DRB, actuate door lock relay. Using DRB in voltmeter mode, check voltage on door lock relay connector terminal "C" (Orange/White wire). If voltage does not toggle from less than 1.0 volt to more than 10 volts, go to step 5). If voltage toggles from less than 1.0 volt to more than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Remove door unlock relay. Using DRB in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of door unlock relay connector terminal "D" (Black wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Black wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance between door unlock relay connector terminals "A" (Pink/Black wire) and "D" (Black wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace door unlock relay. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace door lock relay.
- Gain access to Body Control Module (BCM). BCM is located behind right kick panel. Leave BCM connectors connected. Using DRB in volt-meter mode, check voltage on BCM Gray connector terminal No. 18 (Orange/White wire). Using DRB actuate door lock relay. If voltage toggles between less than 1.0 volt and more than 10 volts, repair open Orange/White wire. If voltage does not toggle between less than 1.0 volt and more than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect BCM Gray connector. Disconnect Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) module. (Scheme 62) Using DRB in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of BCM Gray connector terminal No. 18 (Orange/White wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Orange/White wire. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace BCM.
TEST 35G - REPAIRING SHORTED DOOR LOCK SWITCH CIRCUIT

- Remove left front door trim panel. Disconnect door lock switch connector. Using DRB, read door lock switch voltage. If voltage is less than 0.2 volt, replace left front door switch. If voltage is more than 0.2 volt, go to next step.
- Remove right front door trim panel. Disconnect door lock switch connector. Using DRB, read door lock switch voltage. If voltage is less than 0.2 volt, replace right front door switch. If voltage is more than 0.2 volt, go to next step.
- Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) Bone connector. BCM is located behind right kick panel. Using DRB in voltmeter mode, check voltage on BCM Bone connector terminal No. 9 (Orange/Violet wire). If voltage is less than 0.2 volt, replace BCM. If voltage is more than 0.2 volt, short to voltage in Orange/Violet wire.
TEST 35H - REPAIRING DOORS FAIL TO UNLOCK FROM ANY SWITCH

- Remove door unlock relay from junction block. (Scheme 58) Junction block is located behind end cover, on left side of instrument panel. Using DRB, actuate door unlock relay. Go to next step.
- Using DRB in voltmeter mode, check voltage on door unlock relay connector terminal "C" (Pink/Violet wire). If voltage does not toggle from less than 1.0 volt to more than 10 volts, go to step 5). If voltage toggles from less than 1.0 volt to more than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Remove door lock relay. Using DRB in ohmmeter, check resistance of door lock relay connector terminal "D" (Black wire). If resistance more is than 5 ohms, repair open Black wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance between door lock relay terminals "A" (Orange/Black wire) and "D" (Black wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace door lock relay. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace door unlock relay.
- Gain access to Body Control Module (BCM). BCM is located behind right kick panel. Leave BCM connectors connected. Using DRB in volt-meter mode, check voltage on BCM Gray connector terminal No. 21 (Pink/Violet wire). Using DRB, actuate door unlock relay. If voltage toggles between less than 1.0 volt and more than 10 volts, repair open Pink/Violet wire. If voltage does not toggle between less than 1.0 volt and more than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect BCM Gray connector. Disconnect Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) module. (Scheme 62) Using DRB in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of BCM Gray connector terminal No. 21 (Pink/Violet wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Pink/Violet wire. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace BCM.
TEST 35J - REPAIRING INOPERATIVE DOOR LOCK INHIBIT CIRCUIT

- Open left front door. Using DRB, read left front door ajar status. If DRB does not display LF DOOR AJAR CLOSED, go to «TEST 43A»(ref-10844-S42691698012000111300000). If DRB displays LF DOOR AJAR CLOSED, go to next step.
- Using DRB, read key in ignition status. If DRB displays KEY IN IGN CLOSED, replace Body Control Module (BCM). If DRB does not display KEY IN IGN CLOSE, go to next step.
- Disconnect ignition switch connector. (Scheme 59) Using DRB in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of ignition switch connector terminal No. 4 (Black wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Black wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Connect jumper wire between ignition switch connector terminals No. 4 (Black wire) and No. 6 (Light Blue wire). Using DRB, read key in ignition status. If DRB displays KEY IN IGN CLOSED, repair open Light Blue wire. If DRB does not display KEY IN IGN CLOSED, go to next step.
- With BCM connectors connected, connect jumper wire between BCM Bone connector terminal No. 20 (Light Blue wire) and ground. Using DRB, read key in ignition status. If DRB displays KEY IN IGN CLOSED, repair open Light Blue wire. If DRB does not display KEY IN IGN CLOSED, go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect and inspect BCM Bone connector. Repair BCM Bone connector as necessary. If BCM Bone connector is okay, replace BCM.
TEST 35K - DIAGNOSING AUTOMATIC SPEED SENSITIVE DOOR LOCKS

- Using DRB, read Automatic (AUTO) door lock status. If DRB does not display AUTO DOOR LOCKS ARE ENABLE, use DRB to enable door locks. If DRB displays AUTO DOOR LOCKS ARE ENABLED, ensure all doors are close. Go to next step.
- Using DRB, read left front door ajar status. If DRB displays DOOR AJAR CLOSED, go to «TEST 44A»(ref-10844-S01141260442000111300000) . If DRB does not display DOOR AJAR CLOSED, go to next step.
- Using DRB, read door ajar status. If DRB displays DOOR AJAR CLOSED, go to «TEST 45A»(ref-10844-S26016091672000111300000) . If DRB does not display DOOR AJAR CLOSED, go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to ON position. Using DRB, read ENGINE INFO. If TPS percentage does not increase as throttle is opened, see appropriate TESTS W/CODES article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE section below. If TPS percentage increases as throttle is opened, go to next step.
- Raise and support vehicle. Ensure traction control is off (if equipped). Close all doors. Start engine and shift vehicle into Drive. Using DRB, read ENGINE INFO. If MPH does not increase as throttle is opened, see appropriate TESTS W/CODES article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE section below. If MPH increases as throttle is opened and doors lock, system is operating properly at this time. TEST 36A - POWER DOOR LOCK & REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY PROBLEM ID

- Lower both front windows. Remove key from ignition switch. Close all doors. Lock and unlock doors from both front door switches. If doors fail to lock or unlock properly, perform appropriate test listed in TEST 36A DIAGNOSTIC DIRECTORY table. If doors lock and unlock properly, go to next step. - Insert key in ignition switch. Open left front door. Lock doors from either switch. If doors lock with key in ignition switch, go to «TEST 35J»(ref-10844-S31677702582000111300000) . If doors do not lock with key in ignition switch, go to next step.

TEST 36B - REPAIRING LF DOOR FAILS TO LCK & UNLCK FROM ANY SW

- Remove key from ignition switch. Gain access to Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) module. (Scheme 62) Disconnect RKE module Black connector. Go to next step.
- Using DRB, in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of RKE module Black connector terminal "H" (Black wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Black wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Connect jumper wire between RKE module Black connector terminals "G" (Pink/Black wire) and "H" (Black wire). Depress left front door lock switch. If left front door lock operates, replace RKE module. If left front door lock does not operate, go to next step.
- Remove jumper cable. Using DRB in voltmeter mode, check voltage on RKE module Black connector terminal "A" (Pink wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Pink wire. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Check voltage on RKE module Black connector terminal "C" (Orange/White wire). Depress door lock switch to LOCK position. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Orange/White wire. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Check voltage on RKE module Black connector terminal "E" (Pink/Violet wire). Depress door lock switch to UNLOCK position. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Pink/Violet wire). If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Reconnect RKE module Black connector. Check voltage on RKE module Black connector terminal "G" (Pink/Black wire). Depress door lock switch to UNLOCK position. If voltage is less than 10 volts, replace RKE module. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Remove left front door trim panel. Disconnect left front door lock motor connector. Using DRB in voltmeter mode, check voltage on left front door lock motor connector terminal No. 1 (Orange/Black wire). Depress door lock switch to LOCK position. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Orange/Black wire. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Check voltage on door lock motor connector terminal No. 2 (Pink/Violet wire). Depress door lock switch to UNLOCK position. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Pink/Violet wire. If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace door lock motor.
TEST 36C - REPAIRING LEFT FRONT DOOR LOCK PROBLEM

TEST 36E - ALL DOORS (EXC LEFT FRONT) FAIL TO LOCK & UNLOCK

- Check resistance of door unlock relay connector terminals "D" (Black wire) and "E" (Black wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms in either wire, repair appropriate open Black wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace unlock relay.
TEST 36F - ALL DOORS (EXCEPT LEFT FRONT) FAIL TO LOCK

- Using DRB in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of door lock relay connector terminal "E" (Black wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Black wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Using DRB in voltmeter mode, check voltage on door lock relay connector terminal "C" (Orange/White wire). Depress door lock switch to LOCK position. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Orange/White wire. If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace door lock relay.
TEST 36G - ALL DOORS (EXCEPT LEFT FRONT) FAIL TO UNLOCK

- Remove door unlock relay from junction block. (Scheme 58) Junction block is located behind end cover, on left side of instrument panel. Go to next step.
- Using DRB in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of door unlock relay connector terminal "E" (Black wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Black wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Using DRB in voltmeter mode, check voltage on door unlock relay connector terminal "C" (Pink/Violet wire). Depress door lock switch to UNLOCK position. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Pink/Violet wire. If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace door unlock relay.
TEST 36H - REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY PROBLEM

- Gain access to Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) module. (Scheme 62) Disconnect RKE module Black connector. Go to next step.
- Using DRB in voltmeter mode, check voltage on RKE module Black connector terminal "A" (Pink wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Pink wire. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Using DRB in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of RKE module Black connector terminal "D" (Dark Green wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Dark Green wire. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Using DRB in voltmeter mode, check voltage on RKE module Black connector terminal "G" (Pink/Black wire). Using DRB, actuate door lock relay. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Pink/Black wire. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Check voltage on RKE module Black connector terminal "E" (Pink/Violet wire). Using DRB, actuate door unlock relay. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Pink/Violet wire. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Check voltage on RKE module Black connector terminal "C" (Orange/White wire). Actuate door lock relay. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Orange/White wire. If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace RKE module.
TEST 37A - DIAGNOSING MESSAGE CENTER

DIAGNOSING MESSAGE CENTER
TEST 38A - REPAIRING FLUID LAMP CIRCUIT
Note. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS . Perform TEST VER-1 after each repair.

- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Wait 60 seconds. Check if washer fluid reservoir is full. Add washer fluid as necessary. If washer fluid reservoir is low and low washer fluid lamp does not come on, go to TEST 38B. If washer fluid reservoir is full, go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to ON position. Wait 60 seconds and observe message center. If low washer fluid lamp does not come on, system is operating properly at this time. If low washer fluid lamp comes on, go to next step.
- Using DRB, read washer fluid status. If DRB displays WASH FLUID OK, go to step 5). If DRB does not display WASH FLUID OK, go to next step.
- Disconnect washer fluid level switch connector from bottom of washer fluid reservoir. If DRB displays WASH FLUID OK, replace washer fluid level switch. If DRB does not display WASH FLUID OK, go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) Gray connector. BCM is located behind right kick panel. Using DRB in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of BCM Gray connector terminal No. 17 (Black/Tan wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Black/Tan wire. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace BCM.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) Bone connector. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Observe message center. If low washer fluid lamp comes on, repair short to ground in Red wire. If low washer fluid lamp does not come on, replace BCM.
TEST 38B - INOPERATIVE WASHER FLUID LAMP
Note. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS . Perform TEST VER-1 after each repair.

- Using DRB, actuate low washer fluid lamp. If low washer fluid lamp toggles on then off, go to step 6). If low washer fluid lamp does not toggle on then off, go to next step.
- Using DRB, stop low washer fluid lamp actuation. Disconnect message center connector. Connector is located under left side of dash, near instrument cluster connector. Remove and inspect low washer fluid lamp. If lamp is open, replace low washer fluid lamp. If lamp is okay, go to next step.
- Ensure ignition switch is in ON position. Using DRB in voltmeter mode, check voltage on message center connector terminal No. 4 (Dark Blue/White wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Dark Blue/White wire. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Reinstall low washer fluid lamp. Reconnect message center connector. Connect jumper wire between message center connector terminal No. 6 (Red wire) and ground. If low washer fluid lamp does not illuminate, replace message center. If low washer fluid lamp illuminates, go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) Bone connector. BCM is located behind right kick panel. Connect jumper wire between BCM Bone connector terminal No. 6 (Red wire) and ground. Turn ignition switch to ON position. If low washer fluid lamp does not illuminate, repair open Red wire. If low washer fluid lamp illuminates, replace BCM.
- Using DRB, stop low washer fluid lamp actuation. Disconnect washer fluid level connector from bottom of washer fluid reservoir. Connect jumper wire between washer fluid level connector terminals No. 1 (Black wire) and No. 2 (Black/Tan wire). Go to next step.
- Using DRB, read washer fluid switch status. If DRB displays WASH FLUID LOW, replace washer fluid level switch. If DRB does not display WASH FLUID LOW, disconnect jumper wire. Go to next step.
- Connect jumper wire between washer fluid level connector terminal No. 2 (Black/Tan wire) and ground. If DRB displays WASH FLUID LOW, repair open Black/Tan wire. If DRB does not display WASH FLUID LOW, go to next step.
- Gain access to Body Control Module (BCM). BCM is located behind right kick panel. Leave BCM connectors connected. Connect jumper wire between BCM Gray connector terminal No. 17 (Black/Tan wire) and ground. If DRB displays WASH FLUID LOW, repair open Black/Tan wire. If DRB does not display WASH FLUID LOW, replace BCM.
TEST 39A - DOOR AJAR LAMP CONTROL CIRCUIT

- Close all doors. Using DRB, read left front door ajar status. If DRB displays LF DOOR AJAR CLOSED, go to «TEST 44A»(ref-10844-S01141260442000111300000) . If DRB does not display LF DOOR AJAR CLOSED, go to next step.
- Using DRB, read door ajar status. If DRB displays DOOR AJAR CLOSED, go to «TEST 45A»(ref-10844-S26016091672000111300000) . If DRB does not display DOOR AJAR CLOSED, go to next step.
- Open left front door. Using DRB, read left front door ajar status. If DRB displays LF DOOR AJAR OPEN, go to «TEST 43A»(ref-10844-S42691698012000111300000) . If DRB does not display LF DOOR AJAR OPEN, go to next step.
- Using DRB, read door ajar status. While observing DRB, open and close all doors except left front door. If DRB door ajar status does not change each time a door is opened or closed, go to «TEST 40A»(ref-10844-S18306864782000111300000) . If door ajar status changes each time a door is opened or closed, go to next step.
- Ensure all doors are closed. If door ajar lamp does not illuminate, go to step 7). If door ajar lamp illuminates, go to next step.
- Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) Gray connector. BCM is located behind right kick panel. If door ajar lamp does not illuminate, replace BCM. If door ajar lamp illuminates, repair short to ground in Pink/Black wire.
- Turn ignition switch to ON position. Disconnect message center connector. Connector is located under left side of dash, near instrument cluster connector. Remove and inspect message center door ajar lamp. If lamp is open, replace lamp. If lamp is okay, go to next step.
- Using DRB in voltmeter mode, check voltage on message center connector terminal No. 4 (Dark Blue/White wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Dark Blue/White wire. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect BCM Gray connector. Using DRB in voltmeter mode, check voltage on message center connector terminal No. 1 (Pink/Black wire). If voltage is more than 0.1 volt, repair short to voltage in Pink/Black wire and replace BCM. If voltage is less than 0.1 volt, go to next step.
- Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance of Pink/Black wire between BCM Gray connector terminal No. 9 and message center connector terminal No. 1. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Pink/Black wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Inspect circuit board behind message center. If circuit board is damaged, replace circuit board. If circuit board is okay, replace BCM.
TEST 40A - DIAGNOSING COURTESY LAMP CIRCUIT
Diagnosis of the courtesy lamp system is separated into 8 categories. Identify problem area(s) listed in TEST 40A DIAGNOSTIC DIRECTORY table and perform the indicated test(s).

- Using DRB, actuate courtesy lamps. If courtesy lamps illuminate, go to step 6). If courtesy lamps do not illuminate, go to next step.
- Using DRB, stop courtesy lamps actuation. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) Bone connector. BCM is located behind right kick panel. Go to next step.
- Using DRB in voltmeter mode, check voltage on BCM Bone connector terminal No. 19 (Pink wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Pink wire. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Using DRB in voltmeter mode, check voltage on BCM Bone connector terminal No. 12 (Yellow wire). If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace BCM. If voltage is less than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Disconnect inoperative lamp assembly. Using DRB in voltmeter mode, check voltage on courtesy lamp assembly connector (Pink wire). If voltage is more than 10 volts, repair open Yellow. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Pink wire.
- Using DRB, stop courtesy lamp actuation. Open left front door. Using DRB, read left front door ajar switch status. If DRB displays LFDOOR AJAR CLOSED, replace body control module. If DRB does not display LFDOOR AJAR CLOSED, go to test 43A.
TEST 41A - REPAIRING ONE INOPERATIVE COURTESY LAMP
Note. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS . Perform TEST VER-1 after each repair.
Remove inoperative courtesy lamp. If lamp is open, replace lamp. If lamp is okay, disconnect inoperative lamp assembly. Using DRB in voltmeter mode, check voltage on lamp assembly connector (Pink wire). If voltage is more than 10 volts, repair open ground circuit for inoperative lamp assembly. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Pink wire.
TEST 42A - REPAIRING COURTESY LAMP INPUTS

- Using DRB, read left front door ajar switch status. If DRB displays LFDOOR AJAR CLOSED, go to «TEST 44A»(ref-10844-S01141260442000111300000). If DRB does not display LFDOOR AJAR CLOSED, go to next step.
- Using DRB, read door ajar switch status. If DRB displays DOOR AJAR CLOSED, go to «TEST 45A»(ref-10844-S26016091672000111300000). If DRB does not display DOOR AJAR CLOSED, go to next step.
- Using DRB, read courtesy lamp switch status. If DRB displays COURTESY SW CLOSED, go to «TEST 46A»(ref-10844-S40577824272000111300000). If DRB does not display COURTESY SW CLOSED, check if vehicle is equipped with Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) module. (Scheme 62) If vehicle is equipped with RKE module, go to step 6). If vehicle is not equipped with RKE module, go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) connectors. BCM is located on behind right kick panel. If courtesy lamps go off, replace BCM. If courtesy lamps remain on, repair short to ground in Yellow wire.
- Ensure all doors are closed. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect RKE module connector. If courtesy lamps go off, replace RKE module. If courtesy lamps remain on, go to next step.
- Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) Gray connector. BCM is located behind right kick panel. If courtesy lamps go off, repair short to ground in White wire. If courtesy lamps remain on, go to next step.
- Disconnect BCM Bone connector. If courtesy lamps go off, replace BCM. If courtesy lamps remain on, repair short to ground in Yellow wire.
TEST 43A - REPAIRING LEFT FRONT DOOR AJAR CIRCUIT

- Connect jumper wire between left front door ajar switch connector (Tan wire) and ground. Using DRB, read left front door ajar switch status. If DRB displays LFDOOR AJAR CLOSED, replace left front door ajar switch. If DRB does not display LFDOOR AJAR CLOSED, go to next step.
- Disconnect jumper wire. Gain access to Body Control Module (BCM). BCM is located behind right kick panel. Connect jumper wire between BCM Gray connector terminal No. 6 (Tan wire) and ground. Using DRB, read left front door ajar switch status. If DRB displays LFDOOR AJAR CLOSED, repair open Tan wire. If DRB does not display LFDOOR AJAR CLOSED, replace BCM.
TEST 43B - REPAIRING RIGHT FRONT DOOR AJAR CIRCUIT

- Connect jumper wire between right front door ajar switch connector (Tan/Red wire) and ground. Using DRB, read door ajar switch status. If DRB displays DOOR AJAR CLOSED, replace right front door ajar switch. If DRB does not display DOOR AJAR CLOSED, go to next step.
- Disconnect jumper wire. Gain access to Body Control Module (BCM). BCM is located behind right kick panel. Connect jumper wire between BCM Gray connector terminal No. 3 (Tan/Red wire) and ground. Using DRB, read door ajar switch status. If DRB displays DOOR AJAR CLOSED, repair open Tan/Red wire. If DRB does not display DOOR AJAR CLOSED, replace BCM.
TEST 43C - REPAIRING LEFT REAR DOOR AJAR CIRCUIT

- Connect jumper wire between left rear door ajar switch connector (Tan/Red wire) and ground. Using DRB, read door ajar switch status. If DRB displays DOOR AJAR CLOSED, replace left rear door ajar switch. If DRB does not display DOOR AJAR CLOSED, go to next step.
- Disconnect jumper wire. Gain access to Body Control Module (BCM). BCM is located behind right kick panel. Connect jumper wire between BCM Gray connector terminal No. 3 (Tan/Red wire) and ground. Using DRB, read door ajar switch status. If DRB displays DOOR AJAR CLOSED, repair open Tan/Red wire. If DRB does not display DOOR AJAR CLOSED, replace BCM.
TEST 43D - REPAIRING RIGHT REAR DOOR AJAR CIRCUIT

- Disconnect jumper wire. Gain access to Body Control Module (BCM). BCM is located behind right kick panel. Connect jumper wire between BCM Gray connector terminal No. 3 (Tan/Red wire) and ground. Using DRB, read door ajar switch status. If DRB displays DOOR AJAR CLOSED, repair open Tan/Red wire. If DRB does not display DOOR AJAR CLOSED, replace BCM.
TEST 43E - OPEN COURTESY LAMP SWITCH CIRCUIT

- Disconnect headlamp switch 8-pin connector from behind switch. Connect jumper wire between courtesy lamp switch 8-pin connector terminals No. 2 (Black wire) and No. 3 (Yellow/Red wire). Using DRB, read courtesy lamp switch status. If DRB displays COURTESY SW CLOSED, replace courtesy lamp dash switch. If DRB does not display COURTESY SW CLOSED, go to next step.
- Disconnect jumper wire. Connect jumper wire between headlamp switch 8-pin connector terminal No. 3 (Yellow/Red wire) and ground. Using DRB, read courtesy lamp switch status. If DRB displays COURTESY SW CLOSED, repair open Black wire. If DRB does not display COURTESY SW CLOSED, go to next step.
- Disconnect jumper wire. Access BCM connectors. Connect jumper wire between chassis ground and BCM Gray connector terminal No. 11 (Yellow/Red wire). Using DRB, read courtesy lamp switch status. If DRB displays COURTESY SW CLOSED, repair open Yellow/Red wire. If DRB does not display COURTESY SW CLOSED, replace BCM.
TEST 44A - SHORTED LEFT FRONT DOOR AJAR CIRCUIT

If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Tan/Red wire. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace BCM.
TEST 46A - SHORTED COURTESY LAMP SWITCH CIRCUIT

If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Yellow/Red wire. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace BCM.
TEST 47A - INOPERATIVE ILLUMINATED ENTRY
Note. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS . Perform TEST VER-1 after each repair.

- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Open left front door. If all courtesy lamps do not operate, go to «TEST 40A»(ref-10844-S18306864782000111300000). If all courtesy lamps operate, go to next step.
- Close left front door. If courtesy lamps remain on, go to «TEST 42A»(ref-10844-S34785416012000111300000). If courtesy lamps do not remain on, go to next step. NOTE: Illuminated entry system operates by using Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) transmitter only, not by lifting door handle.
- Close all doors. Lock left front door and wait 60 seconds. Using RKE transmitter, unlock left front door. If courtesy lamps come on and fade off after 30-40 seconds, system is operating properly at this time. If courtesy lamps do not come on and fade off after 30-40 seconds, go to next step.
- Disconnect RKE module. (Scheme 62) Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Close all doors and wait 60 seconds. Connect jumper wire between RKE module Blue connector terminal "H" (White wire) and ground. If courtesy lamps illuminate, replace RKE module. If courtesy lamps do not illuminate, go to next step.
- Disconnect jumper wire. Access Body Control Module (BCM). BCM is located behind right kick panel. Ensure ignition switch is in OFF position. Wait 60 seconds. Connect jumper wire between BCM Gray connector terminal No. 15 (White wire) and ground. If courtesy lamps illuminate, repair open White wire. If courtesy lamps do not illuminate, replace BCM.
TEST 47B - IDENTIFYING VEHICLE HEADLAMP SYSTEM
Automatic (AUTO) headlamp system is identified by an "A" located next to headlamp switch. If vehicle is not equipped with AUTO headlamp system, go to TEST 48A. If vehicle is equipped with AUTO headlamp system, go to TEST 55A .
TEST 48A - DIAG HEADLAMP DELAY PROBLEMS (W/O AUTO HEADLAMPS)

- Disconnect headlamp switch 8-pin connector from behind switch. If headlamps go off, replace headlamp switch. If headlamps do not go off, go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to off position. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) connectors. BCM is located behind right kick panel. If headlamps go off, replace BCM. If headlamps do not go off, go to next step.
- Disconnect headlamp time delay relay from junction block. (Scheme 58) Junction block is located behind end cover, on left side of instrument panel. If headlamps do not go off, repair short to battery voltage in Light Green wire. If headlamps go off, go to next step.
- Using DRB in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of headlamp delay relay connector terminal "E" (Red/Dark Blue wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Red/Dark Blue wire. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace headlamp delay relay.
TEST 49A - HEADLAMP TIME DELAY WILL NOT TURN ON

- Turn ignition switch to ON position. Using DRB, actuate headlamp time delay relay. If headlamps do not toggle on and off, go to «TEST 50A»(ref-10844-S20300795332000111300000). If headlamps toggle on and off, go to next step.
- Using DRB, stop headlamp time delay relay actuation. Turn headlamp switch on. If headlamps do not come on, repair open Light Green wire. If headlamps come on, go to next step.
- Using DRB, read headlamp switch status while turning headlamp switch off then back on. If DRB reading corresponds with headlamp switch position, HEADLAMPS OFF (switch off) then HEADLAMPS ON (switch on), replace Body Control Module (BCM). BCM is located behind right kick panel. If DRB reading does not correspond to headlamp switch position, go to next step.
- Remove fuse No. 5 from junction block. (Scheme 58) Junction block is located behind end cover, on left side of instrument panel. Using DRB in voltmeter mode, check voltage on fuse No. 5 connector (Light Green wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Light Green wire. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Turn headlamp switch off. Inspect fuse No. 5. If fuse is open, go to TEST 49B. If fuse is okay, Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect BCM connectors. Turn headlamp switch on. Go to next step.
- Using DRB in voltmeter mode, check voltage on BCM Bone connector terminal No. 3 (Red/Light Green wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Red/Light Green wire between fuse No. 5 and BCM. If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace BCM.
TEST 49B - HEADLAMP TIME DELAY WILL NOT TURN ON

- Connect jumper wire between headlamp time delay relay connector terminals "A" (Red/White wire) and "B" (Light Green wire). If headlamps do not illuminate, repair open Light Green wire. If headlamps illuminate, go to next step.
- Disconnect jumper wire. Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance of Red/Dark Blue wire between headlamp time delay relay connector terminal "E" and BCM Gray connector terminal No. 2. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Red/Dark Blue wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace headlamp time delay relay.

If courtesy lamps illuminate when left front door is open, go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to ON position. Using DRB, actuate key-in lamp. If key-in lamp flashes on and off, replace BCM. If key-in lamp did not flash on and off, go to next step.
- Using DRB, stop key-in lamp actuation. Remove key-in lamp and inspect key-in lamp and socket. If lamp is open or socket is damaged, repair as necessary. If lamp and socket are okay, go to next step.
- Reinstall key-in lamp. Disconnect key-in lamp connector (on steering column). Using DRB in voltmeter mode, check voltage on key-in lamp connector terminal No. 1 (Pink wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Pink wire. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) Bone connector. BCM is located behind right kick panel. Using DRB in voltmeter mode, check voltage on BCM Bone connector terminal No. 5 (Yellow/Red wire). If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace BCM. If voltage is less than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Disconnect key-in lamp connector (on steering column). Using an external ohmmeter check resistance of Yellow/Red wire between key-in lamp connector terminal No. 2 and BCM Bone connector terminal No. 5. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Yellow/Red wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace key-in lamp assembly.

- Using DRB in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of BCM Bone connector terminal No. 14 (Black/Light Green wire). If resistance is more than 100 ohms, repair open Black/Light Green wire. If resistance is less than 100 ohms, go to next step.
- Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance of Violet/Brown wire between Data Link Connector (DLC) terminal No. 4 and BCM Bone connector terminal No. 8. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Violet/Brown wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance of White/Black wire between DLC terminal No. 3 and BCM Bone connector terminal No. 7. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open White/Black wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace BCM.

Using DRB in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of BCM Bone connector terminal No. 13 (Dark Blue/White wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Dark Blue/White wire and replace fuse No. 14. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace BCM and replace fuse No. 14.
- Using DRB in voltmeter mode, check voltage on fuse No. 14 connector (Dark Blue wire). If voltage is less than 10 ohms, repair open Dark Blue wire. If voltage is more than 10 ohms, reinstall fuse No. 14. Go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) Bone connector. BCM is located behind right kick panel. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Using DRB in voltmeter mode, check voltage on BCM Bone connector terminal No. 13 (Dark Blue/White wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Dark Blue/White wire and replace fuse No. 14. If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace BCM.
TEST 55A - HEADLAMP SYS PROBLEM ID (W/ AUTO HEADLAMP SYS)

- Turn headlamp switch to ON position. If headlamps do not illuminate, repair headlamps as necessary. If headlamps illuminate, go to next step. Test procedures for «A/C-HEATER SYSTEM - AUTOMATIC»(ref-10857) article may be found in the AIR CONDITIONING & HEAT section.
- Turn headlamp switch to OFF position. Using DRB, read trouble codes. If DRB displays ATC SUN LOAD SENSOR FAILURE, go to TEST 25G. If DRB does not display ATC SUN SENSOR LOAD FAILURE, go to next step.
- Using DRB, actuate headlamp relay. If headlamps do not toggle on and off, go to step 7). If headlamps toggle on and off, go to next step.
- Using DRB, stop headlamp relay actuation. Turn headlamp switch to "A" position. Using DRB, read AUTO headlamp status. If DRB displays ULTRALIGHT ON, go to «TEST 55G»(ref-10844-S42023847872000111300000). If DRB does not display ULTRALIGHT ON, go to next step.
- Ensure headlamp switch is in "A" position. Remove headlamp switch from dash. Leave headlamp switch connector connected. Using DRB in voltmeter mode, check voltage on headlamp switch connector terminal No. 1 (Yellow wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, replace headlamp switch. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) Black connector. BCM is located behind right kick panel. Ensure headlamp switch is in "A" position. Using DRB in voltmeter mode, check voltage on BCM Black connector terminal No. 11 (Yellow wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Yellow wire. If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace BCM.
- Using DRB, stop headlamp relay actuation. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) Gray connector. BCM is located behind right kick panel. Connect jumper wire between BCM Gray connector terminal No. 2 (Red/Dark Blue wire) and ground. If headlamps illuminate, replace BCM. If headlamps do not illuminate, go to next step.
- Disconnect jumper wire. Disconnect headlamp delay relay from junction block. (Scheme 58) Junction block is located behind end cover, on left side of instrument panel. Using DRB in voltmeter mode, check voltage on headlamp delay relay connector terminal "A" (Red/White wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Red/White wire. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Using DRB in voltmeter mode, check voltage on headlamp delay relay connector terminal "C" (Red/White wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Red/White wire. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Connect jumper wire between headlamp delay relay connector terminals "A" (Red/White wire) and "B" (Light Green wire). If headlamps do not illuminate, repair open Light Green wire. If headlamps illuminate, go to next step.
- Disconnect jumper wire. Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance of Red/Dark Blue wire between headlamp delay relay connector terminal "E" and BCM Gray connector terminal No. 2. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Red/Dark Blue wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace headlamp delay relay.

- Using DRB, actuate parking lamp relay. If parking lamps toggle on and off, replace Body Control Module (BCM). BCM is located behind right kick panel. If parking lamps do not toggle on and off, go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect BCM Gray connector. Connect jumper wire between BCM Gray connector terminal No. 24 (Light Blue wire) and ground. If parking lamps illuminate, replace BCM. If parking lamps do not illuminate, go to next step.
- Disconnect jumper wire. Remove parking lamp relay. Parking lamp relay is located behind dash, below parking lamp switch. Using DRB in voltmeter mode, check voltage on parking lamp relay connector terminal "B" (Pink/Red wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Pink/Red wire. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Using DRB in voltmeter mode, check voltage on parking lamp relay connector terminal "C" (Pink/Red wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Pink/Red wire. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Connect jumper wire between parking lamp relay connector terminals "B" (Pink/Red wire) and "D" (Black/Yellow wire). If parking lamps do not illuminate, repair open Black/Yellow wire. If parking lamps illuminate, go to next step.
- Disconnect jumper wire. Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance of Light Blue wire between BCM Gray connector terminal No. 24 and parking lamp relay terminal "A". If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Light Blue wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace parking lamp relay.
TEST 55E - HEADLAMPS & PARKING LAMPS DO NOT TURN OFF
Note. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS . Perform TEST VER-1 after each repair.

- Ensure headlamp switch is in OFF position. Using DRB, read AUTO headlamp switch status. If DRB does not display ULTRALIGHT ON, go to step 3). If DRB displays ULTRALIGHT ON, go to next step.
- Disconnect headlamp switch connector from behind switch. Using DRB, read AUTO headlamp switch status. If DRB does not display ULTRALIGHT ON, replace headlamp switch. If DRB displays ULTRALIGHT ON, repair short to battery voltage in Yellow wire.
- Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) Gray connector. BCM is located behind right kick panel. If headlamps go out, go to step 6). If headlamps do not go out, go to next step
- Disconnect headlamp time delay relay from junction block. (Scheme 58) Junction block is located behind end cover, on left side of instrument panel. If headlamps do not go out, repair short to battery voltage in Yellow wire. If headlamps go out, go to next step.
- Using DRB in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of headlamp delay relay connector terminal "E" (Red/Dark Blue wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Red/Dark Blue wire. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace headlamp delay relay.
- If parking lamps go out, replace BCM. If parking lamps do not go out, remove parking lamp relay. Parking lamp relay is located behind dash, below parking lamp switch. If parking lamps do not go out, repair short to battery voltage in Black/Yellow wires. If parking lamps go out, go to next step.
- Using DRB in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of parking lamp relay connector terminal "D" (Black/Yellow wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Black/Yellow wire. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace parking lamp relay.
TEST 55F - PARKING LAMPS WILL NOT TURN OFF

- Disconnect headlamp switch connector from behind switch. If parking lamps go out, replace headlamp switch. If headlamps do not go out, turn ignition switch to OFF position. Go to next step.
- Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) Gray connector. If parking lamps go out, replace BCM. If parking lamps do not go out, go to next step.
- Disconnect parking lamp relay. Parking lamp relay is located behind dash, below parking lamp switch. If parking lamps do not go out, repair short to battery voltage in Black/Yellow wire. If parking lamps go out, go to next step.
- Using DRB in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of parking lamp relay connector terminal "A" (Light Blue wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Light Blue wire. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace parking lamp relay.
TEST 55G - REPAIRING AUTO HEADLAMP SUN SENSOR INPUT CIRCUIT

- Cover sun sensor. Sun sensor is located at center of upper dash. Using DRB, read ultralight voltage. If DRB displays more than 4.8 volts, go to step 4). If DRB displays less than 4.8 volts, go to next step.
- Disconnect sun sensor connector. For dash removal and installation procedure, see «INSTRUMENT PANEL»(ref-10859) article in ACCESSORIES/SAFETY EQUIPMENT section. Using DRB, read ultralight voltage. If DRB displays ULTRALIGHT 5.0V, replace sun sensor. If DRB does not display ULTRALIGHT 5.0V, go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) Gray connector. BCM is located behind right kick panel. Using DRB in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of BCM Gray connector terminal No. 20 (Dark Blue/Red wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Dark Blue/Red wire. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace BCM.
- Using DRB in monitors mode, read ENGINE INFO. If DRB displays NO RESPONSE, go to TEST 56A. If DRB does not display NO RESPONSE, observe DRB while starting engine. If engine RPM increases when starting engine, replace BCM. If engine RPM does not increase, replace powertrain control module.
TEST 56A - REPAIRING PWRTRAIN CNTRL MOD NO RESPONSE CONDITION

- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect Powertrain Control Module (PCM) connector. PCM is located under air filter housing, in front of left front strut. Go to next step.
- Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance of Violet/Brown wire between PCM connector terminal No. 26 and DLC terminal No. 4. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Violet/Brown wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Using external ohmmeter, check resistance of White/Black wire between PCM connector terminal No. 46 and DLC terminal No. 3. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open White/Black wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace PCM.
TEST VER-1 - VERIFICATION PROCEDURE
Note. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS .
- Reconnect all previously disconnected components and connectors. Using DRB, calibrate Automatic Temperature Control (ATC) doors, if any work has been done on ATC system. Ensure all repairs have been made.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position, then back to ON position. Using DRB, erase trouble codes. Fully operate system that was malfunctioning by turning switch on, opening door, etc. If system operates properly, repair is complete. If system does not operate properly, go to TEST 1A.
TEST 1A - TROUBLE CODES
Battery must be fully charged before proceeding. Trouble codes displayed will fit 2 categories: DRB trouble codes and bus trouble codes. Connect DRB to Data Link Connector (DLC) to get trouble code. See TROUBLE CODES table and proceed to appropriate test number. If DRB screen is blank, go to TEST 2A.

TROUBLE CODES
TEST 2A - BLANK DRB MESSAGE SCREEN
Note. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . For wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS . After each repair, perform TEST VER-1.
- Disconnect DRB. Using an external voltmeter, check voltage between chassis ground and Data Link Connector (DLC) terminal No. 2 Pink wire. DLC is located under dash, left of steering column. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair Pink wire or Red wire as necessary.
- If voltage is more than 10 volts, turn ignition off. Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance between chassis ground and DLC terminal No. 6 (Black/Light Green wire). If resistance is more than 20 ohms, repair open in Black/Light Green wire.
- If resistance is less than 20 ohms, try a different DRB adapter cable. If DRB screen is no longer blank, replace defective DRB adapter cable.
- If DRB screen is still blank, try a different DRB cartridge. If DRB screen is no longer blank, replace defective DRB cartridge. If DRB screen is still blank, replace defective DRB.
TEST 3A - RAM TEST FAILURE
- Without touching DRB keypad, disconnect and reconnect DRB. If DRB does not display RAM TEST FAILURE, go to next step. If DRB displays RAM TEST FAILURE, replace DRB. Return to TEST 1A.
- If DRB displays KEY PAD TEST FAILURE, replace DRB. If DRB does not display KEY PAD TEST FAILURE, return to TEST 1A.
TEST 4A - CARTRIDGE ERROR
- Without touching DRB keypad, disconnect and reconnect DRB. If DRB does not display CARTRIDGE ERROR, go to next step. If DRB displays CARTRIDGE ERROR, replace DRB cartridge. Return to TEST 1A.
- If DRB displays KEY PAD TEST FAILURE, replace DRB. If DRB does not display KEY PAD TEST FAILURE, return to TEST 1A.
TEST 5A - KEY PAD TEST FAILURE
Without touching DRB keypad, disconnect and reconnect DRB. If DRB does not display KEY PAD TEST FAILURE, return to TEST 1A. If DRB displays KEY PAD TEST FAILURE, replace DRB.
TEST 6A - LOW OR HIGH BATTERY
Using an external voltmeter, check battery voltage. If battery voltage is 11.7-13.0 volts, replace DRB. If battery voltage is not 11.7-13.0 volts, repair charging system as necessary.
TEST 7B - SHORT TO BATTERY

- If resistance is more than 5 ohms, check resistance between PCM connector terminal No. 7 (Orange wire) and terminal No. 46 (White/Black wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short between White/Black and Orange wires. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace PCM.
TEST 7C - SHORT TO BATTERY

Using DRB in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of instrument cluster connector terminal No. 7 (Black/Light Green wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Black/Light Green wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace MIC or EIC.
TEST 7G - SHORT TO BATTERY
Note. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . For wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS . After each repair, perform TEST VER-1.
- Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance between Body Control Module (BCM) Gray connector terminal No. 6 (Tan wire) and BCM Bone connector terminal No. 8 (Violet/Brown wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short between Tan wire and Violet/Brown wire.
- If resistance is more than 5 ohms, check resistance between BCM Gray connector terminal No. 6 (Tan wire) and BCM Bone connector terminal No. 7 (White/Black wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short between Tan wire and White/Black wire.
- If resistance is more than 5 ohms, check resistance between BCM Gray connector terminal No. 3 (Tan/Red wire) and BCM Bone connector terminal No. 8 (Violet/Brown wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short between Tan/Red wire and Violet/Brown wire.
- If resistance is more than 5 ohms, check resistance between BCM Gray connector terminal No. 3 (Tan/Red wire) and BCM Bone connector terminal No. 7 (White/Black wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short between Tan/Red wire and White/Black wire.
- If resistance is more than 5 ohms, check resistance between BCM Bone connector terminals No. 5 (Yellow/Red wire) and No. 8 (Violet/Brown wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short between Yellow/Red wire and Violet/Brown wire.
- If resistance is more than 5 ohms, check resistance between BCM bone connector terminals No. 5 (Yellow/Red wire) and No. 7 (White/Black wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short between Yellow/Red wire and White/Black wire.
- If resistance is more than 5 ohms, using DRB in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of BCM Bone connector terminal No. 14 (Black/Light Green wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Black/Light Green wire.
- If resistance is less than 5 ohms, check resistance of BCM bone connector terminal No. 15 (Gray/Tan wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Gray/Tan wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace BCM.
TEST 7H - SHORT TO BATTERY

Using DRB in ohmmeter mode, check resistance on Overhead Travel Information System (OTIS) module connector terminal No. 3 (Black/Light Green wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Black/Light Green wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace OTIS module.
TEST 8B - SHORT TO 5 VOLTS

- If resistance is more than 5 ohms, check resistance between PCM connector terminals No. 6 (Violet/White wire) and No. 46 (White/Black wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short between Violet/White wire and White/Black wire. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace PCM.
Note. A break in test sequence occurs at this point. No test procedures have been omitted.
TEST 8E - SHORT TO 5 VOLTS

- If resistance is more than 5 ohms, check resistance between BCM Gray connector terminal No. 5 (Light Green/Red wire) and BCM Bone connector terminal No. 8 (Violet/Brown wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short between Light Green/Red and Violet/Brown wires.
- If resistance is more than 5 ohms, check resistance between BCM Gray connector terminal No. 5 (Light Green/Red wire) and BCM Bone connector terminal No. 7 (White/Black wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short between Light Green/Red and White/Black wires.
- If resistance is more than 5 ohms, check resistance between BCM Bone connector terminals No. 8 (Violet/Brown wire) and No. 20 (Light Blue wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short between Violet/Brown and Light Blue wires.
- If resistance is more than 5 ohms, check resistance between BCM Bone connector terminals No. 7 (White/Black wire) and No. 20 (Light Blue wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short between White/Black and Light Blue wires. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace BCM.

- If resistance is 100-140 ohms, check resistance of Violet/Brown wire between BCM Bone connector terminal No. 8 and Data Link Connector (DLC) terminal No. 4. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Violet/Brown wire.
- If resistance is less than 5 ohms, check resistance of White/Black wire between BCM Bone connector terminal No. 7 and DLC terminal No. 3. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open White/Black wire.

- If resistance is 100-140 ohms, check resistance of Violet/Brown wire between PCM connector terminal No. 26 and DLC terminal No. 3. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Violet/Brown wire.
- If resistance is less than 5 ohms, check resistance of White/Black wire between PCM connector terminal No. 46 and DLC terminal No. 3. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open White/Black wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace DRB cable or cartridge as necessary.

If voltage is not 2.3-2.6 volts, go to step 3). If voltage is 2.3-2.6 volts, check voltage between chassis ground and DLC terminal No. 3 (White/Black wire). If voltage is not 2.3-2.6 volts, go to next step. If voltage is 2.3-2.6 volts, replace DRB cable or cartridge as necessary. Turn ignition off and disconnect Powertrain Control Module (PCM). PCM is located under air cleaner in engine compartment. Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance between PCM terminals No. 26 and 46. If resistance is not 100-140 ohms, replace PCM. If resistance is 100-140 ohms, check resistance of Violet/Brown wire between PCM connector terminal No. 26 and DLC terminal No. 4. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Violet/Brown wire. Using DRB in voltmeter mode, check voltage on BCM Bone connector terminal No. 19 (Pink wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair Pink wire as necessary. If voltage is more than 10 volts, check voltage on BCM Bone connector terminal No. 13 (Dark Blue/White wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Dark Blue/White wire. If voltage is more than 10 volts, using DRB in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of Bone connector terminal No. 21 (Black wire). If resistance is more than 15 ohms, repair open Black wire. If resistance is less than 15 ohms, replace BCM.
Note. A break in test sequence occurs at this point. No test procedures have been omitted.
TEST 13A - NO BUS BIAS
NO BUS BIAS fault message test is separated by body classification. See test 13C for LH body.
TEST 13C - NO BUS BIAS
Note. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . For wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS . After each repair, perform TEST VER-1.

Note. Ignition off during bus test is most common cause for this trouble code.
- Turn ignition on, engine off. Disconnect DRB. Using an external voltmeter, check voltage between chassis ground and Data Link Connector (DLC) connector terminal No. 4 (Violet/Brown wire). If voltage is not 2.3-2.6 volts, go to step 3).
- If voltage is 2.3-2.6 volts, check voltage between chassis ground and DLC connector terminal No. 3 (White/Black wire). If voltage is not 2.3-2.6 volts, go to next step. If voltage is 2.3-2.6 volts, replace DRB cable or cartridge as necessary.
- Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM). BCM is located behind right kick panel. Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance between BCM Bone connector terminals No. 7 and No. 8. If resistance is not 100-140 ohms, replace BCM.
- If resistance is 100-140 ohms, check resistance of Violet/Brown wire between BCM Bone connector terminal No. 8 and DLC connector terminal No. 4. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Violet/Brown wire.
- If resistance is less than 5 ohms, check resistance of White/Black wire between BCM Bone connector terminal No. 7 and DLC connector terminal No. 3. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open White/Black wire.
- If resistance is less than 5 ohms, reconnect DRB. Using DRB in voltmeter mode, check voltage on BCM Bone connector terminal No. 19 (Pink wire). If voltage is not less than 10 volts, repair Pink wire as necessary.
- If voltage is more than 10 volts, check voltage on BCM Bone connector terminal No. 13 (Dark Blue/White wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Dark Blue/White wire.
- If voltage is more than 10 volts, using DRB in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of BCM Bone connector terminal No. 21 (Black wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open to ground in Black wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace BCM.
Note. A break in test sequence occurs at this point. No test procedures have been omitted.
- Reconnect all components that were previously disconnected. Ensure ignition is off and DRB is connected. Turn ignition on. If DRB screen is blank, go to TEST 2A. If DRB screen is not blank, go to next step.
- If there is a bus failure message on DRB, go to TEST 1A. If there is no bus failure message on DRB, select module in question. If DRB shows NO RESPONSE, go to TEST 1A.
- If DRB does not show NO RESPONSE, inspect vehicle for original complaint. If original complaint is present, go to TEST 1A. If original complaint is not present, repair is complete.
