DR-19 TEST - BASIC IGNITION TIMING CHECK
- Connect tachometer and powered timing light to engine. Start and run engine until normal operating temperature is obtained. Disconnect coolant temperature sensor and do not reconnect. (Scheme 227) "CHECK ENGINE" light MUST come on. If basic timing is within 2 degrees of specification shown on emission label, go to next step. If basic timing is not within specification, adjust timing.
- With tachometer and powered timing light connected to engine, remove air cleaner, if required. With engine at normal operating temperature, reconnect coolant temperature sensor connector. "CHECK ENGINE" light MUST go out. Raise engine speed to 2000 RPM. If timing is 26-34° BTDC (timing is okay), perform «DR-20 TEST - CHECKING FUEL SUPPLY & RETURN SYSTEM»(/dodge/grand-caravan/i-1984-1990/remont/testing-diagnostics/#30l-v6-mpfi-system__dr-20-test-checking-fuel-supply). If timing is not 26-34° BTDC, replace SMEC (defective logic board).
