  1. 1) T-CASE (DTCM) SWITCH VOLTAGE LESS THAN 0.2 VOLTS Ignition on, engine not running. With the scan tool, read the T-CASE Switch voltage in the Cluster. Is the voltage less than 0.2 volts? Yes Go to 2) . No Go to 5) .
  2. 2) (K77) 5 VOLT SELECTOR SWITCH SUPPLY CIRCUIT SHORTED TO GROUND Turn the ignition off to the lock position Disconnect the Transfer Case Selector Switch harness connector. Disconnect the Instrument Cluster C1 harness connector. Measure the resistance between ground and the (K77) 5 Volt Selector Switch Supply circuit. Is the resistance less than 5.0 ohms? Yes Repair the (K77) 5 Volt Selector Switch Supply circuit for a short to ground. Perform «TRANSFER CASE VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1»(ref-285407-S03532512162008052100000) . No Go to 3) .
  3. 3) TRANSFER CASE SELECTOR SWITCH Ignition on, engine not running. With the scan tool in Data Display, read the Range Switch voltage. NOTE: The switch voltage should be approximately 5.0 volts (±0.2 volts). Turn the ignition off to the lock position Connect a jumper wire between the 5 Volt Selector Switch Supply circuit and the Mode Select circuit in the Transfer Case Selector Switch harness connector. Ignition on, engine not running. NOTE: The switch voltage should be approximately 0.0 volts (±0.2 volts). Does the voltage display as described? Yes Replace the Transfer Case Selector Switch in accordance with the Service Information. Perform «TRANSFER CASE VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1»(ref-285407-S03532512162008052100000) . No Go to 4) .
  4. 4) INSTRUMENT CLUSTER View repair. Repair Replace the Instrument Cluster in accordance with the Service Information. Perform «BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1»(ref-285334-S04155882182008052100000) and «TRANSFER CASE VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1»(ref-285407-S03532512162008052100000) .
  5. 5) INTERMITTENT WIRING AND CONNECTORS The conditions necessary to set this DTC are not present at this time. Using the wiring diagram/schematic as a guide, inspect the wiring and connectors. While monitoring the scan tool data relative to this circuit, wiggle test the wiring and connectors. Look for the data to change or for the DTC to reset during the wiggle test. Were any problems found? Yes Repair as necessary. Perform «TRANSFER CASE VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1»(ref-285407-S03532512162008052100000) . No Test complete.

  1. 1) TCASE (DTCM) SWITCH VOLTAGE ABOVE 4.8 VOLTS Ignition on, engine not running. With the scan tool, read the TCASE Switch voltage in the Cluster. Is the volage above 4.8 volts? Yes Go to 2) . No Go to 7) .
  2. 2) (K77) 5 VOLT SELECTOR SWITCH SUPPLY CIRCUIT SHORTED TO VOLTAGE Turn the ignition off to the lock position. Disconnect the Transfer Case Selector Switch connector. Ignition on, engine not running. Measure the voltage of the (K77) 5 Volt Selector Switch Supply circuit. Is the voltage above 5.5 volts? Yes Repair the (K77) 5 Volt Selector Switch Supply circuit for a short to voltage. Perform «TRANSFER CASE VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1»(ref-285407-S03532512162008052100000) . No Go to 3) .
  3. 3) (K977) MODE SELECT CIRCUIT SHORTED TO VOLTAGE Measure the voltage of the (K977) Mode Select circuit. Is there any voltage present? Yes Repair the (K977) Mode Select circuit for a short to voltage. Perform «TRANSFER CASE VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1»(ref-285407-S03532512162008052100000) . No Go to 4) .
  4. 4) (K77) 5 VOLT SELECTOR SWITCH SUPPLY CIRCUIT OPEN Turn the ignition off to the lock position Disconnect the Instrument Cluster C1 harness connector. Measure the resistance of the (K77) 5 Volt Selector Switch Supply circuit between the Transfer Case Selector Switch harness connector and the Instrument Cluster C1 harness connector. Is the resistance greater than 5.0 ohms? Yes Repair the (K77) 5 Volt Selector Switch Supply circuit for an open. Perform «TRANSFER CASE VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1»(ref-285407-S03532512162008052100000) . No Go to 5) .
  5. 5) (K977) MODE SELECT CIRCUIT OPEN Turn the ignition off to the lock position. Disconnect the Instrument Cluster C2 harness connector. Measure the resistance of the (K977) Mode Select circuit between the Transfer Case Selector Switch harness connector and the Instrument Cluster C2 harness connector. Is the resistance above 5.0 ohms? Yes Repair the (K977) Mode Select circuit for an open. Perform «TRANSFER CASE VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1»(ref-285407-S03532512162008052100000) . No Go to 6) .
  6. 6) TRANSFER CASE SELECTOR SWITCH INTERNALLY SHORTED TO VOLTAGE Reconnect the Instrument Cluster C2 harness connector. Ignition on, engine not running. With the scan tool, read the TCASE Switch voltage in the Cluster. Is DTC C1402 still present? Yes Replace the Instrument Cluster in accordance with the Service Information. Perform «BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1»(ref-285334-S04155882182008052100000) . No Replace the Transfer Case Selector Switch in accordance with the Service Information. Perform «TRANSFER CASE VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1»(ref-285407-S03532512162008052100000) .
  7. 7) INTERMITTENT WIRING AND CONNECTORS The conditions necessary to set this DTC are not present at this time. Using the wiring diagram/schematic as a guide, inspect the wiring and connectors. While monitoring the scan tool data relative to this circuit, wiggle test the wiring and connectors. Look for the data to change or for the DTC to reset during the wiggle test.   1. 1) DTC IS ACTIVE Ignition on, engine not running. NOTE: Repair any system undervoltage or overvoltage DTCs that are set in this module before proceeding. With the scan tool, read the DTCs in the FCM. Is the DTC status Active at this time? Yes Go to 2) . No Go to 11) .
  2. 2) (T103) 5 VOLT SUPPLY CIRCUIT VOLTAGE Turn the ignition off to the lock position. Disconnect the Shift Motor/Mode Sensor harness connector. Ignition on, engine not running. Measure the voltage of the (T103) Drivetrain 5-volt Supply circuit. Select the displayed voltage reading: Voltage greater than 5.5 volts. Repair the (T103) Drivetrain 5-volt Supply circuit for a short to voltage. Perform «TRANSFER CASE VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1»(ref-285407-S03532512162008052100000) . Voltage between 4.5 and 5.5 volts. Go to 5) . Voltage less than 4.5 volts. Go to 3) .
  3. 3) (T103) DRIVETRAIN 5 VOLT SUPPLY CIRCUIT HIGH RESISTANCE Turn the ignition off to the lock position. Disconnect the FCM C1 harness connector. Measure the resistance of the (T103) Drivetrain 5-volt Supply circuit between the FCM C1 harness connector and the Shift Motor/Mode Sensor harness connector. Is the resistance above 5.0 ohms? Yes Repair the high resistance in the (T103) Drivetrain 5-volt Supply circuit. Perform «TRANSFER CASE VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1»(ref-285407-S03532512162008052100000) . No Go to 4) .
  4. 4) (T103) DRIVETRAIN 5 VOLT SUPPLY CIRCUIT SHORTED TO GROUND Measure the resistance between ground and the (T103) 5-volt Supply circuit. Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms? Yes Repair the (T103) Drivetrain 5-volt Supply circuit for a short to ground. Perform «TRANSFER CASE VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1»(ref-285407-S03532512162008052100000) . No Replace the Front Control Module (FCM) in accordance with the Service Information. Perform «TRANSFER CASE VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1»(ref-285407-S03532512162008052100000) .
  5. 5) (D201) MODE SENSOR SIGNAL CIRCUIT HIGH RESISTANCE Turn the ignition off to the lock position. Disconnect the FCM C1 harness connector. Measure the resistance of the (D201) Mode Sensor Signal circuit between the FCM C1 harness connector and the Shift Motor/Mode Sensor harness connector. Is the resistance above 5.0 ohms? Yes Repair the high resistance in the (D201) Mode Sensor Signal circuit. Perform «TRANSFER CASE VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1»(ref-285407-S03532512162008052100000) . No Go to 6) .
  6. 6) (D201) MODE SENSOR SIGNAL CIRCUIT SHORTED TO GROUND Measure the resistance between ground and the (D201) Mode Sensor Signal circuit. Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms? Yes Repair the (D201) Mode Sensor Signal circuit for a short to ground. Perform «TRANSFER CASE VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1»(ref-285407-S03532512162008052100000) . No Go to 7) .
  7. 7) (D201) MODE SENSOR SIGNAL CIRCUIT SHORTED TO VOLTAGE Ignition on, engine not running. Measure the voltage between ground and the (D201) Mode Sensor Signal circuit. Is there any voltage present? Yes Repair the (D201) Mode Sensor Signal circuit for a short to voltage. Perform «TRANSFER CASE VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1»(ref-285407-S03532512162008052100000) . No Go to 8) .
  8. 8) (G180) FRONT CONTROL MODULE (FCM) SENSOR RETURN CIRCUIT HIGH RESISTANCE Turn the ignition off to the lock position. Measure the resistance between ground and the (G180) FCM Sensor Return circuit. Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms? Yes Go to 9) . No Repair the high resistance in the (G180) Drivetrain Sensor Return circuit. Perform «TRANSFER CASE VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1»(ref-285407-S03532512162008052100000) .
  9. 9) (T103) DRIVETRAIN 5 VOLT SUPPLY CIRCUIT FOR VOLTAGE Turn the ignition off to the lock position. Connect a jumper wire between the (D201) Mode Sensor Signal circuit and the (T103) 5 Volt Supply circuit. Ignition on, engine not running. With the scan tool under Data Display, read the T-Case Position Sensor voltage. The displayed voltage should be approximately 5 volts with the jumper wire in place. Does the voltage read 5.0 (± 0.02 volts)? Yes Go to 10) . No Replace the Front Control Module (FCM) in accordance with the Service Information. Perform «TRANSFER CASE VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1»(ref-285407-S03532512162008052100000) .
  10. 10) (G180) FRONT CONTROL MODULE (FCM) SENSOR RETURN CIRCUIT FOR GROUND Turn the ignition off to the lock position. Connect a jumper wire between the (D201) Mode Sensor Signal circuit and the (G180) Drivetrain Sensor Return circuit. Ignition on, engine not running. With the scan tool under Data Display, read the T-Case Position Sensor voltage. The displayed voltage should be approximately 0 volts with the jumper wire in place. Does the voltage read 0.0 (± 0.02 volts)? Yes Replace the Transfer Case Motor in accordance with the Service Information. Perform «TRANSFER CASE VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1»(ref-285407-S03532512162008052100000) . No Replace the Front Control Module (FCM) in accordance with the Service Information. Perform «TRANSFER CASE VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1»(ref-285407-S03532512162008052100000) .
  11. 11) INTERMITTENT WIRING AND CONNECTORS The conditions necessary to set this DTC are not present at this time. Using the wiring diagram/schematic as a guide, inspect the wiring and connectors. While monitoring the scan tool data relative to this circuit, wiggle test the wiring and connectors. Look for the data to change or for the DTC to reset during the wiggle test. While monitoring the scan tool data relative to this circuit, move the selector switch to each position several times. Look for the data to change other than as expected or for the DTC to reset.   1. 1) T-CASE POSITION SENSOR VOLTAGE BELOW 0.2 VOLTS Ignition on, engine not running. With the scan tool, read the T-Case Position Sensor voltage. Is the voltage below 0.2 volts? Yes Go to 2) . No Go to 7) .
  2. 2) (T103) 5 VOLT SUPPLY CIRCUIT VOLTAGE BELOW 0.2 VOLTS Turn the ignition off to the lock position. Disconnect the Shift Motor/Mode Sensor harness connector. Ignition on, engine not running. Measure the voltage between ground and the (T103) 5 Volt Supply circuit. Is the voltage below 0.2 volts? Yes Go to 3) . No Go to 5) .
  3. 3) (T103) 5 VOLT SUPPLY CIRCUIT OPEN Turn the ignition off to the lock position. Disconnect the Front Control Module C1 harness connector. Measure the resistance of the (T103) 5 Volt Supply circuit between the Shift Motor/Mode Sensor harness connector and the Front Control Module C1 harness connector. Is the resistance above 5.0 ohms? Yes Repair the (T103) 5 Volt Supply circuit for an open. Perform «TRANSFER CASE VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1»(ref-285407-S03532512162008052100000) . No Go to 4) .
  4. 4) (T103) 5 VOLT SUPPLY CIRCUIT SHORTED TO GROUND Measure the resistance between ground and the (T103) 5 Volt Supply circuit. Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms?   6. 6) (D201) MODE SENSOR A CIRCUIT SHORTED TO GROUND Measure the resistance between ground and the (D201) Mode Sensor A circuit. Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms? Yes Repair the (D201) Mode Sensor A circuit for a short to ground. Perform «TRANSFER CASE VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1»(ref-285407-S03532512162008052100000) .   4. 4) SHIFT MOTOR/MODE SENSOR ASSEMBLY Turn the ignition off to the lock position. Connect a jumper wire between the (G180) FCM Sensor Return circuit and the (D201) Mode Sensor A circuit in the Shift Motor/Mode Sensor harness connector. Ignition on, engine not running. With the scan tool, read the T-Case Position Sensor voltage. NOTE: Remove the jumper wire before continuing. Is the voltage below 0.2 volts? Yes Replace the Shift Motor/Mode Sensor assembly. Perform «TRANSFER CASE VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1»(ref-285407-S03532512162008052100000) . No Go to 5) .
  5. 5) (D201) MODE SENSOR A CIRCUIT OPEN Turn the ignition off to the lock position. Disconnect the Front Control Module C1 harness connector. Measure the resistance of the (D201) Mode Sensor A circuit between the Shift Motor/Mode Sensor harness connector and the Front Control Module C1 harness connector. Is the resistance above 5.0 ohms? Yes Repair the (D201) Mode Sensor A circuit for an open. Perform «TRANSFER CASE VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1»(ref-285407-S03532512162008052100000) . No Go to 6) .
  6. 6) (G180) FCM SENSOR RETURN CIRCUIT OPEN Disconnect the Front Control Module IPM harness connector. Measure the resistance of the (G180) FCM Sensor Return circuit between the Shift Motor/Mode Sensor harness connector and the Front Control Module IPM harness connector. Yes Repair the (G180) FCM Sensor Return circuit for an open. Perform «TRANSFER CASE VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1»(ref-285407-S03532512162008052100000) . No Go to 7) .

No Go to 3) .
  3. 3) SHIFT MOTOR CIRCUIT RESISTANCE AT PDM CONNECTOR Disconnect the Power Distribution Module (PDM) C2 connector. Measure the resistance between the Shift Motor (+) circuit and the Shift Motor (-) circuit at the PDM C2 harness connector. Is the resistance between 40 and 100 ohms?   1. 1) NEUTRAL INDICATOR CONTROL CIRCUIT DTC IS ACTIVE Ignition on, engine not running. With the scan tool, clear DTCs. Shift the Transfer Case into neutral for 30 seconds. NOTE: To select or deselect Transfer Case Neutral, vehicle speed must be 0 Kmh (0 mph) with the ignition ON, engine OFF, the brake pedal applied, and the transmission in neutral (auto trans) or the clutch pedal pressed (man trans). Press the Neutral button (if equipped) on the Transfer Case Selector Switch until the Neutral Indicator is illuminated. WARNING: Apply the parking brake. The vehicle may roll with the Transfer Case in neutral. NOTE: To verify that the Transfer Case is in Neutral, shift the automatic transmission into reverse and release the brake pedal for three seconds or shift the manual transmission into gear and slowly release the clutch pedal. There should be no vehicle movement if the Transfer Case is in Neutral. With the scan tool, read DTCs. Does the DTC reset? Yes Go to 2) . No Go to 6) .
