REMOVAL

Note. If the ABM needs to be replaced, the rear axle type and tire revolutions per mile must be programed into the new ABM. For axle type refer to REAR AXLE - 8 1/4 or REAR AXLE - 9 1/4 . For tire revolutions per mile, (Refer to TIRES/WHEELS ). To program the ABM refer to the appropriate Diagnostic Service Information. Refer to P1078-TIRE EVOLUTIONS RANGE PERFORMANCE and P1079-TONE WHEEL TEETH COUNT RANGE PERFORMANCE .

1. Remove the HCU from the vehicle (Refer to «HCU (HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT)»(ref-212744-S18155263142005122700000) ).
2. Remove the module mounting screws (1).
3. Disconnect the pump electrical connector (3) from the HCU (2).
4. Remove the module (1) from the HCU (2).

INSTALLATION

Note. If the ABM needs to be replaced, the rear axle type and tire revolutions per mile must be programed into the new ABM. For axle type refer to REAR AXLE - 8 1/4 or REAR AXLE - 9 1/4 . For tire revolutions per mile (Refer to TIRES/WHEELS ). To program the ABM refer to the appropriate Diagnostic Service Information. Refer to P1078-TIRE EVOLUTIONS RANGE PERFORMANCE and P1079-TONE WHEEL TEETH COUNT RANGE PERFORMANCE .

1. Position the module (1) on the HCU (2).
2. Install the mounting screws (1) and tighten to 6 N.m (53 in. lbs).
3. Install the pump electrical connector (3) to the module (4).
4. Install the HCU to the vehicle (Refer to «HCU (HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT)»(ref-212744-S18155263142005122700000) ).

Use the diagnostic scan tool to reprogram the new Powertrain Control Module (PCM) with the original Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) and the vehicles original mileage. If this step is not done, a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) may be set.

The PCM (2) is attached to the right-front inner fender (1) located in the engine compartment.

To avoid possible voltage spike damage to the PCM, ignition key must be off, and negative battery cable must be disconnected before unplugging PCM connectors.

Scheme 13

1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
2. Remove both wiper arms. Refer to «ARM-WINDSHIELD WIPER»(ref-212806-S02258907072005122700000) .
3. Remove wiper cowl (two screws, four pins).
4. Remove wiper cowl support (three bolts).
5. Remove air intake tube (four nuts).
6. Carefully unplug the four 38-way connectors (3) from PCM.
7. Remove three PCM mounting bolts (4), and remove PCM from vehicle.

Scheme 14

1. Position PCM (2) to vehicle.
2. Install three PCM mounting bolts (4).
3. Tighten bolts to 3-5 N.m (30-40 in. lbs.).
4. Check pin connectors in the PCM. Also check the four 38-way connectors (3) for corrosion or damage. Repair as necessary.
5. Install the four 38-way connectors (3) to PCM.
6. Install air intake tube (four nuts).
7. Install wiper cowl support (three bolts).
8. Install wiper cowl (two screws, four pins).
9. Install both wiper arms. Refer to «ARM-WINDSHIELD WIPER»(ref-212806-S02258907072005122700000) .
10. Connect negative battery cable.
11. Use the diagnostic scan tool to reprogram new PCM with vehicles original Identification Number (VIN) and original vehicle mileage. If this step is not done, a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) may be set.
