DIAGNOSTIC TEST

1. CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC NOTE: Before proceeding with the diagnostic procedure, verify that the connections are proper made, properly seated and verify proper pin terminal tension. A loose connection at any of SCCM connectors may cause the DTC to set. Turn the ignition on. Press each Remote Radio Switch twice. With the scan tool, read DTCs Does the scan tool display this DTC as active? Yes Go To 2 . No Test complete, the condition or conditions that originally set this DTC are not present at this time. Using the wiring diagrams as a guide, check all related splices and connectors for signs of water intrusion, corrosion, pushed out or bent terminals, and correct pin tension. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-489354-S40173642412012072600000) and perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST.
2. LEFT OR RIGHT REMOTE RADIO SWITCH NOTE: Check for a stuck Remote Radio Switch. Repair as necessary. With the scan tool, view the switch status. Status can be viewed in the SCCM data display. NOTE: With the switches not pressed, the value for the remote switches should read "Not Set". Left Remote Radio Switch SWS Seek Up SWS Preset SWS Seek Down Right Remote Radio Switch SWS Volume Up SWS Audio Mode SWS Volume Down Does the scan tool display the correct status of the switches in the data display? Yes Test complete, the condition or conditions that originally set this DTC are not present at this time. Using the wiring diagrams as a guide, check all related splices and connectors for signs of water intrusion, corrosion, pushed out or bent terminals, and correct pin tension. No WARNING: Turn the ignition off disconnect the 12-volt battery and wait two minutes before proceeding. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury. NOTE: Visually and physically inspect the wiring harness between the Remote Radio Switch harness connectors and the Right Steering Wheel Switch (Speed Control Switch) harness connector. Repair any damaged wires, connectors, and open/spread terminals. If harness is OK, proceed with test. Replace the Remote Radio Switch that does not display the correct value in the data display. Does the scan tool display this DTC as active? Yes WARNING: Turn the ignition off disconnect the 12-volt battery and wait two minutes before proceeding. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury. WARNING: Do not place an intact non-deployed airbag face down on a hard surface, the airbag propels into the air if accidentally deployed. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury. NOTE: Check for a stuck Left Steering Wheel Control Switch. NOTE: Visually and physically inspect the wiring harness between the Left Steering Wheel Control Switch harness connector and the Right Steering Wheel Control Switch (Speed Control Switch) harness connector. Repair any damaged wires, connectors, and open/spread terminals. If harness is OK, proceed with test. Replace the Left Steering Wheel Control Switch in accordance with the Service Information. Once switch has been replaced, press it twice to initialize it. If problem persists, replace the Right Steering Wheel Switch (Speed Control Switch) in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-489354-S40173642412012072600000) and perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. No Test complete, the condition or conditions that originally set this DTC are not present at this time. Once the switch has been replaced, press it twice to initialize it. If problem still persists, replace the Right Steering Wheel Switch (Speed Control Switch) in accordance with the Service Information. Yes Replace the Steering Column Control Module (SCCM) in accordance with the Service information. No Test complete, the condition or conditions that originally set this DTC are not present at this time. 2. CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) With the scan tool, read DTCs. Does the scan tool display this DTC as active? Yes Go To 3 . No Test complete, the condition or conditions that originally set this DTC are not present at this time. Using the wiring diagrams as a guide, check all related splices and connectors for signs of water intrusion, corrosion, pushed out or bent terminals, and correct pin tension. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-489354-S40173642412012072600000) and perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST.
3. (A913) FUSED B(+) CIRCUIT OPEN OR SHORTED TO GROUND Turn the ignition off. Disconnect the Steering Control Module C1 harness connector. Turn the ignition on. Measure the voltage of the (A913) Fused B(+) circuit. Is battery voltage present? Yes Go To 4 . No Repair the (A913) Fused B(+) circuit for an open or short to ground. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-489354-S40173642412012072600000) and perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST.
4. (Z910) GROUND CIRCUIT OPEN OR HIGH RESISTANCE Turn the ignition off. Measure the resistance between ground and the (Z910) Ground circuit. Is the resistance below 5.0 Ohms? Yes Replace the Steering Column Control Module (SCCM) in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-489354-S40173642412012072600000) and perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. No Repair the (Z910) Ground circuit for an open or high resistance. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-489354-S40173642412012072600000) and perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST.

2. RIGHT REMOTE RADIO SWITCH (PADDLE SHIFTER) NOTE: Check for a stuck Upshift Switch. Repair as necessary. With the scan tool, view the switch status. Status can be viewed in the SCCM data display. While monitoring the Upshift Switch status with the scan tool, actuate the switch multiple times. Does the scan tool display the correct status of the switch in the data display? Yes Test complete, the condition or conditions that originally set this DTC are not present at this time. Using the wiring diagrams as a guide, check all related splices and connectors for signs of water intrusion, corrosion, pushed out or bent terminals, and correct pin tension. Refer to «STANDARD PROCEDURE»(ref-489354-S40173642412012072600000) and perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. 2. LEFT REMOTE RADIO SWITCH (PADDLE SHIFTER) NOTE: Check for a stuck Downshift Switch. Repair as necessary. With the scan tool, view the switch status. Status can be viewed in the SCCM data display. While monitoring the Downshift Switch status with the scan tool, actuate the switch multiple times. Does the scan tool display the correct status of the switch in the data display? Yes Test complete, the condition or conditions that originally set this DTC are not present at this time. Using the wiring diagrams as a guide, check all related splices and connectors for signs of water intrusion, corrosion, pushed out or bent terminals, and correct pin tension. 1. ACTIVE DTC Ignition on, engine not running. With the scan tool, select view DTCs. Is the DTC Active at this time? Yes Diagnose the U0002-00-CAN C BUS OFF PERFORMANCE as the U0001-CAN C BUS CIRCUIT test.
