Instrument Panel (Coupe): Overview Dodge Avenger I

DESCRIPTION & OPERATION

Instrument cluster gauges include: coolant temperature, fuel level, oil pressure, speedometer, and tachometer. The coolant temperature gauge uses a thermistor-type sending unit, oil pressure gauge uses a bimetal-type sending unit and the fuel gauge uses a variable resistance-type sending unit. Fuel gauge sending unit has an attached thermistor for operation of the low fuel level warning indicator. Speedometer is electric type and uses signal from Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS).

Warning indicators receive battery voltage from fuse No. 8 (10-amp) when ignition switch is in RUN or START position. All warning indicators require a ground signal to activate each indicator light. Instrument panel switches include hazard, foglight, panel illumination dimmer rheostat, rear defogger and rear wiper/washer.
