CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT
This light will come on briefly during starting as a bulb check. If it remains on or comes on while driving, it indicates a potential engine control problem and the system should be serviced. Prolonged driving without having the system checked may affect fuel economy, driveability and possible damage to the emission system.
CHARGE SYSTEM LIGHT (1983 VEHICLES)
This low voltage light may come on under heavy electrical loads when engine is idling slowly, particularly in cold weather. This light should go out when engine speed is increased. If light remains on at normal open road driving speeds, have the electrical system checked and serviced immediately.
OIL PRESSURE LIGHT
Light indicates low engine oil pressure, but does not indicate the amount of oil in the engine. This light should come on when the engine is first started as a bulb check, but should go out when engine is started. Light may "flicker" or come on when engine is hot and idling slow. Have the system checked and serviced if light comes on and remains on while driving. Do not operate vehicle until the cause is located and corrected.
BRAKE WARNING LIGHT
Vehicle is equipped with dual braking system which provides backup braking capability should a failure occurs in either half of the hydraulic system. If there is a failure to either half of the dual braking system, the warning light will come on when the brake pedal is depressed. In such case have the system inspected and serviced as soon as possible. This light can be checked by turning the ignition switch half way between the "ON" and "START" position. The light will also come on with the ignition key in the "ON" position and the parking brake applied.
