Foreword
The multifunction screen is a driver information medium, it is an ECU of the COMFORT CAN which has the following functions
- Inform the driver on components exterior to the system (date, time, exterior temperature)
- Inform the driver on the system's interior components (autodiagnostic, trip computer)
- Manage the radio display
- Manage the air conditioning system display
- Manage the CD changer display
- Manage the navigation system display (*)
- Manage the radiotelephone display (*)
(*) according to equipment
The type Dt multifunction screen is used with the radiotelephone (RT3) with the audio system, telephone and satellite navigation system functions
NoteThe radiotelephone telematics system (RT3) consists of three components (screen Dt), a telematic unit and the diversity unit
Functions associated with the multi-function screen
The multifunction screen displays various items of information
- Hr

- Date and time display format
- Exterior temperature
- Audio system
- CD player
- Trip computer
- Telephone integegrated into the radio
- Heating/ventilation
- Information linked with the personalisation menu
- Parking assistance

Press management
Different press types allowing use of the screens
- Single press: from detection of the press to the short press time threshold (time less than 40 ms)
- Short press: from the time the button is released (time in excess of 40 ms and below the long press time threshold)
- Long press: over a time threshold of 2 seconds
- Maintained press at the end of the time of a long press, the information is sent periodically every 200 ms while the button is depressed

Presentation of the operation of the DT display zones
The display zones of the Dt multifunction screen are managed by a management system referred to as the "graphic server"
Each information group is divided into applications
- Trip computer
- Radiotelephony
- Navigation
- Heating/ventilation
Each application transmits information to the graphic server
The graphic server decides which information should be taken into account and defines its display zone
The user activates an application, the graphic server allocates the display resource in zone Z0 to it and possibly the audio resource
This activation is carried out by means of the AUDIO, NAV, TRIP, TEL and CLIM buttons which permit switching from one application to another. the current variable is then updated. it is known by the graphic server which can carry out the application display requests in relation to the active zones
Random events such as the dialogue boxes, warning messages, may result in the appearance of new display zones
General zone cohabitation rules
The following table gives the general strategy for superimposing zones as a function of the zone present on the screen and the new zone to display
| zone of appearance | |||||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| present zone | Z6 | Z0 | Z1 | Z2 | Z2a | Z2b | zone Z2 extended | Z3 | Z4 |
| Z6 | - | S | S | S | S | S | S | S | S |
| Z0 | - | E | S | S | S | S | S | S | S |
| Z1 | - | - | S | - | - | - | - | S | S |
| Z2 | - | - | E | E | X | X | X | E | E |
| Z2a | - | - | E | X | E | E | E | E | E |
| Z2b | - | - | E | X | E | E | E | E | E |
| zone Z2 extended | - | - | E | X | E | E | E | E | E |
| Z3 | - | - | - | - | - | - | - | S | - |
| Z4 | - | - | S | - | - | - | - | S | S |
Key
- E: crushing
- S: superimposition to the present zone (possibility to return to this zone using the ESC button for example)
- -: impossible configuration
- X: there are cases which cannot occur. for example, a Z2 zone cannot appear in zones Z2_1, Z2_2 and Z2 extended
Display zone of multifunction screen type Dt
| display mode | display zone | description of the display zone |
|---|---|---|
| Z0, Z6 | zone 0 | displaying of the date, route, trip computer information, radio information (tuner, CD, auxiliary), dual-zone or mono-zone air conditioning setting zone. AUDIO or DATE application. NAVIGATION application. trip comp application (trip computer). TELEPHONE application. AIR CONDITIONING application |
| zone 6 | displaying of the screen background. displaying of the air conditioning or of the clock when the guidance is not active | |
| Z1 | zone 1 | display zone permitting the inputting of information by the user (timed to 30 seconds). depending on the types of application, it consists of various input fields and buttons |
| Z2 | zone 2 | display zone permitting the displaying of various messages and displays which are not present in zone Z0. zone Z2 can be displayed or cleared by external events (example: message from the BSI1). it permits the displaying of applications which are not stored as the current application. the default timing is 7 seconds |
| zone Z2_1 | display zone superimposed over zone Z0 and over zone Z6. it is used for the complete displays or the messages of the following applications. radio or telephone. audio/telephone (communication in progress). navigation (press of the button). heating/ventilation. extended zone Z2_1 appears following an action by the user | |

| Z3 | zone 3 extended | simple priority display zone or dialogue zone associated with buttons operated by the control keypad. zone Z3 is timed (the controlled time T is defined for each zone when described by its applications). the default timing is 30 seconds. the Z3 zones are superimposed over each other, in accordance with a level of priority allocated to each zone. in the event of several applications requesting display in zone Z3, the priority rules are applied (the 0 level is the highest priority). priority 0, telephone priority (entry call, SMS reception, etc.). priority 1, inputting priority (input of PIN, PUK codes etc.). priority 2, dialogue priority (information or error messages). priority 3, trip computer priority |
