Preliminary operations
Remove
- The scuttle grille
- Screen pillar trim panels
- The rain/sunlight bi-sensor
- The roof trims
- The roof console
Removing
Unclip the lugs ("a") from the clips (2), starting from the bottom, releasing outwards; using tool [1350-ZZ]
Remove: the windscreen aperture pillar trims (1)
WarningFor safety reasons, always replace the clips (2)
NoteIf the windscreen is to be re-used: position strips of adhesive tape (3) and cut them (as "b")
Pass the awl [1354-C] through the bead of adhesive, from the inside towards the outside
Thread the cutting wire [1354-E] into the awl [1354-C] and pass it towards the inside
Leave sufficient length for it to be attached on the winding device [1354-AZ]
Pass the cutting wire [1354-E] under the seal of the windscreen (in the direction "c") all around the windscreen; using soapy water (according to equipment)
NoteThere are windscreens with seals and windscreens without seals
Cut the cutting wire [1354-E] leaving sufficient length to be able to fix it to the pin of the roof trim
Fix the cutting wire [1354-E] on the pin of the roof trim
Put the winding device [1354-AZ] in place as indicated on the diagram
Fix the end of the cutting wire [1354-E] in the winding device [1354-AZ]
WarningWhen tensioning the cutting wire [1354-E], take care to route the cutting wire [1354-E] under the lip of the windscreen seal
NoteAt the least resistance of the cutting wire [1354-E] during cutting, de-tension it and help it to pass the obstacle (support shims, extra-thick adhesive bead, or panel junctions)
Transpose the reeling mechanism [1354-AZ] (where illustrated); continue the cutting
NoteIt is normal for there to be more resistance to cutting in the lower part of the windscreen as there is a double bead of bonding in that area
Remove the windscreen (4); using the double hinged suction cups [KIT1-VENT]
Refitting
Preparation: flange - windscreen
1er cases - reusing the windscreen
Fit the electric cutter [FEIN-400E] with blade N°146
Level off the adhesive beads both on the windscreen (4) and the flange
2nd case - fitting a new windscreen
NoteIf the windscreen (4) is to be replaced, align it and position pieces of adhesive tape (5) as shown above, then cut them (as "d")
Remove the windscreen (4)
Degrease the edge of the windscreen using degreaser
Mark the route for bonding on the printed zone; using a lead pencil
- In the zone (at "A") at 15 mm (from the edge of the glass)
- In the zones (at "B") at 9 mm (from the edge of the glass)
Apply glass adherence primer; on the bonding track (at "e")
Allow to dry for 10 mn
Applying the adhesive
Fit the shims (6)
Fit the extruder gun with the mastic mixer assembly
Take the nozzle supplied in the glueing kit
Cut the nozzle to "A" = 8 mm dia. at "B" = 13 mm from the tip
1st case: reusing the windscreen (4)
- There is no need to apply primer
- Remove any impurities on the shaved seal; using a blow gun
2nd case: this method applies in the case of a new windscreen (4)
- Degrease the surround of the windscreen (4) using the product chosen from the bonding kit
- The windscreen (4) is supplied pre-coated with primer
- Further primer must be applied following the line of the primer applied during manufacture (at "e"); allow to dry for 10 mn
WarningThe time between applying the mastic to the windscreen (4) and positioning the latter on the vehicle must not exceed 8 minutes (for the quick setting bonding mastics)
Apply the bead of adhesive at the centre of the line of primer (at "e")
Position the windscreen (4) in relation to the adhesive strips (5)
Exert a constant pressure; using the wire suction cups [KIT2-VENT]
Check the fits and clearances of the windscreen
Allow to cure for 30 minutes before handling
Check the sealing of the windscreen (4)
WarningFor safety reasons, always replace the clips (2)
Proceed in the reverse order to removal
Check the electrical operation of the equipment
