Preliminary operations

Detach: the front wing upper trims (partly)

Remove

  • The scuttle grille
  • The interior rear view mirror
  • The windscreen pillar trims
  • The rain/sunlight bi-sensor

Removing

Remove: the trims (1) of the windscreen pillars; using the tool [1350-ZZ]

NoteAlways renew: the trims (1) of the windscreen pillars

Unclip: the scuttle grille (2) support; using the tool [1350-ZZ]

Remove: the scuttle grille (2) support

NoteIf the windscreen is to be re-used: position strips of adhesive tape (3) and cut them (at " a ")

Pass the awl [1354-C] through the bead of sealing adhesive from the inside to the outside

Secure the cutting wire [1354-E] in the awl [1354-C]

Pass the cutting wire [1354-E] inside the vehicle

Leave a sufficient length to permit fixing on the winder device with roller [1354-AZ]

Pass the cutting wire [1354-E] under the windscreen and all around it (following the arrow)

Cut the cutting wire [1354-E] allowing enough length to fix it to the winding device

Fix the cutting wire [1354-E] on the screw (4)

Fix the end of the cutting wire in the winding device [1354-AZ]

WarningWhen tensioning the cutting wire, ensure that the wire is placed under the windscreen correctly

NoteUse the protectors [1375] to protect the dashboard and sun visor module; at the slightest resistance of the wire while cutting, slacken it and assist it in passing the obstacle (support shims, excessive thickness of the bead of adhesive or join between panels)

Cut and move tools [1354-AZ] and [1354-BZ], as the bead of adhesive seal is cut

Continue cutting until the cutting wire [1354-E] is no longer guided by the guide roller [1354-BZ]; then, remove the guide roller and continue the cut

Continue cutting

Finish cutting

NoteTwo people are required to perform the following operation

Remove the windscreen 5; using the double suction cups [KIT1-VENT]

Cleaning

Preparing the windscreen

1st case: re-using a windscreen

Fit the electric knife [FEIN-400E] with the blade N°146

Remove the adhesive sealing bead

Free the glass from dust with a clean cloth

Only apply the primer over the bared areas

2nd case: this method applies in the case of a new windscreen

WarningDegrease the edge of the glass

Apply the glass primer provided in the bonding kit

WarningOnly apply the primer over the bared areas

Preparing the flange

1st case: on the remains of the bead of sealing adhesive

Fit the electric knife [FEIN-400E] with the blade N°146

Remove the adhesive sealing bead

Free the glass from dust with a clean cloth

2nd case: on the new component

WarningDegrease the flange

Apply the metal primer provided in the bonding kit

Allow to dry for 10 minutes

Preparation of the windscreen aperture

WarningThoroughly degrease the mating edges: the contact face of the windscreen with its aperture

Refitting

Position the shims (6) in their original locations

"A" = 12 mm

"B" = 8 mm

Cut the nozzle in triangular section to obtain a bead of sealing adhesive "B" wide and "A" deep

1st case: re-using a windscreen

Apply a bead of sealing adhesive to the periphery of the windscreen (5) (at " b ")

WarningUsing a two-part product: the time required to fit the window on the vehicle before starting to extrude the seal adhesive is 5 minutes

Refit the windscreen (5)

  • Using the double suction cups [KIT1-VENT]
  • Using pieces of adhesive tape (3)

Check the fits and clearances of the windscreen

Press gently on the edges of the windscreen (5)

WarningClean then thoroughly degrease the windscreen and its surround

2nd case: this method applies in the case of a new windscreen

Test fit the windscreen (5)

Position pieces of adhesive tape (3) as shown above, then cut the adhesives (at " a ")

Remove the windscreen 5

Apply a bead of sealing adhesive to the periphery of the windscreen (5) (at " b ")

WarningUsing a two-part product: the time required to fit the window on the vehicle before starting to extrude the seal adhesive is 5 minutes

Refit the windscreen (5)

  • Using the double suction cups [KIT1-VENT]
  • Using pieces of adhesive tape (3)

Check the fits and clearances of the windscreen

Press gently on the edges of the windscreen (5)

WarningClean then thoroughly degrease the windscreen and its surround

WarningObserve the vehicle immobilisation time following fitting of the windscreen recommended by the suppliers of the products used

Continue the fitting operations in the reverse order to removal

Check the sealing of the windscreen (5)

Clean the windscreen (5) and its surround

Check that the electrical equipment is working correctly
