  1. Mark hood hinges for reinstallation. Remove hood. Drain cooling system. Remove battery. Remove air cleaner assembly. Remove radiator hoses, heater hoses, fan shroud and transmission cooler lines from radiator. Remove radiator. Remove fan shroud. Disconnect fuel lines at fuel pump and filter.
  2. Remove A/C compressor from engine with refrigerant lines connected and position aside (if equipped). Remove vacuum hoses, distributor cap and wiring. Remove carburetor and linkage. Remove starter and oil pressure sending unit wiring. Disconnect engine harness wiring and set aside.
  3. Remove power steering pump and set aside (if equipped). Remove alternator, charcoal canister, starter motor and horns. Disconnect exhaust pipe at manifolds. Remove bellhousing bolts and inspection plate. Mark torque converter and flex plate for reinstallation.
  4. Remove torque converter-to-flex plate bolts. Support the transmission with Support Stand (C-3201A). Attach a "C" clamp to bottom front of torque converter housing to retain converter. Using eyebolt fixture, attach engine hoist to engine. Remove front motor mount bolts. Remove engine.
  5. To install, reverse removal procedure.
