When Monitored and Set Condition

  1. When Monitored: With the ignition on.
  2. Set Condition: The A/C Heater Control Module reports an abnormally high or low voltage that is detected by the Instrument Cluster on the Ambient Temperature Sensor Signal circuit.

  1. 1) READ AMBIENT TEMPERATURE SENSOR VOLTAGE WITH DRB III® Turn the ignition on. With the scan tool, read the Ambient Temperature Sensor voltage. Does the scan tool display AMBIENT TEMP: 5.0 VOLTS or greater? Yes Go to 2) . No Go to 6) .
  2. 2) MEASURE THE VOLTAGE OF THE AMBIENT TEMPERATURE SENSOR SIGNAL CIRCUIT Turn the ignition off. Disconnect the Ambient Temperature Sensor harness connector. NOTE: Check connector - Clean/repair as necessary. Turn the ignition on. Measure the voltage of the Ambient Temperature Sensor Signal circuit at the Ambient Temperature Sensor harness connector. Is the voltage above 5.5 volts? Yes Repair the Ambient Temperature Sensor Signal circuit for a short to voltage. Perform «*BODY VERIFICATION TEST»(/chrysler/crossfire/i-final-2008-2008/remont/automatic-hvac-system/#hvac-systems-electrical-diagnostics__body-verification-test) . No Go to 3) .
  3. 3) READ AMBIENT TEMPERATURE SENSOR VOLTAGE WITH DRB III® Turn the ignition off. Connect a jumper wire between the Ambient Temperature Sensor Signal circuit and the Sensor Ground circuit. Turn the ignition on. With the scan tool, read the Ambient Temperature Sensor voltage. Does the scan tool display AMBIENT TEMP: 4.5 VOLTS or greater? Yes Go to 4) . No Replace the Ambient Temperature Sensor. Refer to «REMOVAL»(/chrysler/crossfire/i-final-2008-2008/remont/ac-compressor/#hvac-systems-service-information) . Perform «*BODY VERIFICATION TEST»(/chrysler/crossfire/i-final-2008-2008/remont/automatic-hvac-system/#hvac-systems-electrical-diagnostics__body-verification-test) .
  4. 4) MEASURE THE RESISTANCE OF THE AMBIENT TEMPERATURE SENSOR SIGNAL CIRCUIT Turn the ignition off. Disconnect the Instrument Cluster C1 harness connector. NOTE: Check connector - Clean/repair as necessary. Measure the resistance of the Ambient Temperature Sensor Signal circuit from the Instrument Cluster harness connector to the Ambient Temperature Sensor harness connector. Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms? Yes Go to 5) . No Repair the Ambient Temperature Sensor Signal circuit for an open. Perform «*BODY VERIFICATION TEST»(/chrysler/crossfire/i-final-2008-2008/remont/automatic-hvac-system/#hvac-systems-electrical-diagnostics__body-verification-test) .
  5. 5) MEASURE THE RESISTANCE OF THE SENSOR GROUND CIRCUIT With the ignition off. Measure the resistance of the Sensor Ground circuit from the Instrument Cluster harness connector to the Ambient Temperature Sensor harness connector. Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms? Yes Replace the Instrument Cluster. Refer to «REMOVAL»(/chrysler/crossfire/i-final-2008-2008/remont/gauges-instrument-panels/#instrument-cluster-service-information) . Perform «*BODY VERIFICATION TEST»(/chrysler/crossfire/i-final-2008-2008/remont/automatic-hvac-system/#hvac-systems-electrical-diagnostics__body-verification-test) . No Repair the Sensor Ground circuit for an open. Perform «*BODY VERIFICATION TEST»(/chrysler/crossfire/i-final-2008-2008/remont/automatic-hvac-system/#hvac-systems-electrical-diagnostics__body-verification-test) .
  6. 6) READ AMBIENT TEMPERATURE SENSOR VOLTAGE WITH DRB III® Turn the ignition off. Disconnect the Ambient Temperature Sensor harness connector. NOTE: Check connector - Clean/repair as necessary. Turn the ignition on. With the scan tool, read the Ambient Temperature Sensor voltage. Does the scan tool display AMBIENT TEMP: 4.5 VOLTS or greater? Yes Go to 7) . No Go to 9) .
  7. 7) READ A/C HEATER CONTROL MODULE DTC'S WITH DRB III® Turn the ignition off. Reconnect the Ambient Temperature Sensor connector. Turn the ignition on. With the scan tool, read A/C Heater Control Module DTC's. Wait two minutes. With the scan tool, read A/C Heater Control Module DTC's. Does the scan tool display Ambient Temperature Sensor Failure DTC? Yes Replace the Ambient Temperature Sensor. Refer to «REMOVAL»(/chrysler/crossfire/i-final-2008-2008/remont/ac-compressor/#hvac-systems-service-information) . Perform «*BODY VERIFICATION TEST»(/chrysler/crossfire/i-final-2008-2008/remont/automatic-hvac-system/#hvac-systems-electrical-diagnostics__body-verification-test) . No Go to 8) .
  8. 8) READ A/C HEATER CONTROL MODULE DTC'S WITH DRB III® Ensure the Ambient Temperature Sensor is connected at this time. Start the engine. Turn the A/C system on and run for at least five minutes. With the scan tool, read A/C Heater Control Module DTC's. Does the scan tool display Ambient Temperature Sensor Failure DTC? Yes Replace the Ambient Temperature Sensor. Perform «*BODY VERIFICATION TEST»(/chrysler/crossfire/i-final-2008-2008/remont/automatic-hvac-system/#hvac-systems-electrical-diagnostics__body-verification-test) . See «DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING»(/chrysler/crossfire/i-final-2008-2008/remont/automatic-hvac-system/#hvac-systems-electrical-diagnostics) . No The condition that caused this DTC to set is currently not present. Inspect the related wiring harness for a possible intermittent condition. Perform «*BODY VERIFICATION TEST»(/chrysler/crossfire/i-final-2008-2008/remont/automatic-hvac-system/#hvac-systems-electrical-diagnostics__body-verification-test) .
  9. 9) MEASURE THE RESISTANCE BETWEEN GROUND AND THE AMBIENT TEMPERATURE SENSOR SIGNAL CIRCUIT Turn the ignition off. Disconnect the Instrument Cluster C1 harness connector. NOTE: Check connector - Clean/repair as necessary. Measure the resistance between ground and the Ambient Temperature Signal circuit. Is the resistance below 1000.0 ohms? Yes Repair the Ambient Temperature Sensor Signal circuit for a short to ground. Perform «*BODY VERIFICATION TEST»(/chrysler/crossfire/i-final-2008-2008/remont/automatic-hvac-system/#hvac-systems-electrical-diagnostics__body-verification-test) . No Go to 10) .
  10. 10) MEASURE THE RESISTANCE FROM THE AMBIENT TEMPERATURE SENSOR SIGNAL CIRCUIT TO THE SENSOR GROUND CIRCUIT With the ignition off. Measure the resistance from the Ambient Temperature Sensor Signal circuit to the Sensor Ground circuit at the Ambient Temperature Sensor connector. Is the resistance below 1000.0 ohms? Yes Repair the Ambient Temperature Sensor Signal circuit for a short to the Sensor Ground circuit. Perform «*BODY VERIFICATION TEST»(/chrysler/crossfire/i-final-2008-2008/remont/automatic-hvac-system/#hvac-systems-electrical-diagnostics__body-verification-test) . No Replace the Instrument Cluster. Refer to «REMOVAL»(/chrysler/crossfire/i-final-2008-2008/remont/gauges-instrument-panels/#instrument-cluster-service-information) .   1. 1) READ LEFT HEATER CORE TEMPERATURE SENSOR VOLTAGE WITH scan tool Turn the ignition on. With the scan tool, read the Left Heater Core Temperature Sensor voltage. Does the scan tool display LEFT HEATER CORE TEMP: 5.0 VOLTS or greater? Yes Go to 2) . No Go to 6) .
  2. 2) MEASURE THE VOLTAGE OF THE LEFT HEATER CORE TEMPERATURE SENSOR SIGNAL CIRCUIT Turn the ignition off. Disconnect the Heater Core Temperature Sensor harness connector. NOTE: Check connector - Clean/repair as necessary. Turn the ignition on. Measure the voltage of the Left Heater Core Temperature Sensor Signal circuit at the Heater Core Temperature Sensor harness connector. Is the voltage above 5.5 volts? Yes Repair the Left Heater Core Temperature Sensor Signal circuit for a short to voltage. Measure the resistance between ground and the A/C Pressure Sensor Ground circuit at the A/C Pressure Sensor harness connector. Is the resistance below 30 ohms? Yes Replace the A/C Heater Control Module. No The condition that caused this DTC to set is currently not present. Inspect the related wiring harness for a possible intermittent condition. Turn the ignition on. Measure the voltage of the 5-Volt Supply circuit at the A/C Pressure Sensor harness connector. Is the voltage between 4.5 and 5.0 volts? Yes Go to 9) . No Go to 12) .

Measure the resistance of the Recirculated Air Switchover Valve Control circuit from the Recirculated Air Switchover Valve harness connector to the A/C Heater Control Module harness connector. Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms? Yes Go to 3) . No Repair the Recirculated Air Switchover Valve Control circuit for an open.   3. 3) MEASURE THE VOLTAGE OF THE RECIRCULATED AIR SWITCHOVER VALVE CONTROL CIRCUIT Reconnect the Recirculated Air Switchover Valve connector. Turn the ignition on. Measure the voltage of the Recirculated Air Switchover Valve Control circuit at the A/C Heater Control Module harness connector. Is the voltage above 10 volts? Yes Replace the A/C Heater Control Module.   1. 1) MEASURE THE RESISTANCE OF THE SERIAL COMMUNICATION K2 CIRCUIT Turn the ignition off. Disconnect the Instrument Cluster harness connector. NOTE: Check connector - Clean/repair as necessary. Diagnostic Test

  1. 1) HVAC MODULE TEST The HVAC Module is reporting "No Failure Codes Stored" DTC. View repair. Repair Turn the ignition on. With the scan tool, clear the DTC. No other repair is required.

*BODY VERIFICATION TEST

Turn the ignition off.

Disconnect all jumper wires and reconnect all previously disconnected components and connectors.

Note. If the SKREEM or the PCM was replaced, refer to the service information for proper programming procedures.

If the Body Control Module was replaced, turn the ignition on for 15 seconds (to allow the new BCM to learn VIN) or engine may not start.

Program all RKE transmitters and other options as necessary.

With the scan tool, erase all Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) from ALL modules. Start the engine and allow it to run for 2 minutes. Operate all functions of the system that caused the original complaint.

Ensure that all accessories are turned off and the battery is fully charged.

Turn the ignition off and wait 5 seconds. Turn the ignition on and using the scan tool, read DTCs from ALL modules.

Are any DTCs present or is the original complaint still present?

Are any DTCs present?

YES

  1. Repair is not complete, refer to appropriate symptom.

NO

  1. Repair is complete.
