DISABLING/ENABLING IGNITION & FUEL SYSTEMS

WARNINGTo prevent engine from starting while performing tests, always disable ignition and fuel systems.

Disabling Ignition & Fuel Systems

Remove Automatic Shutdown Relay (ASD) located in power distribution center. On 5.9L diesel engines, remove fuel pump relay located in power distribution center. Refer to power distribution center cover for proper relay location. Power distribution center is located in engine compartment.

Enabling Ignition & Fuel Systems

When testing and/or repairs have been completed, verify battery condition. After starter tests have been completed, recharge battery as necessary. Disconnect all test equipment. Install Automatic Shutdown (ASD) relay. On 5.9L diesel engines, install fuel pump relay. On all models, start engine several times to verify malfunction has been corrected.
