IGNITION TIMING (GASOLINE)

All models are equipped with an electronic computer-controlled ignition system. Timing on this system is only adjustable on Tracker equipped with 2.0L engine. Timing should be set to 5 degrees BTDC. For adjustment procedure, see ON-VEHICLE ADJUSTMENTS - TRUCKS - EXCEPT TRACKER article.

INJECTION PUMP TIMING (DIESEL)

Injection pump timing can be checked using scan tool. See DIESEL INJECTION PUMP TIMING table. For adjustment procedure, see ON-VEHICLE ADJUSTMENTS - TRUCKS - EXCEPT TRACKER article.

IDLE SPEED & MIXTURE

Note. Idle speed and mixture is not adjustable on vehicles equipped with diesel engines.

Idle mixture on fuel injected models is controlled by PCM and is not adjustable. Controlled idle speed and IAC count can be checked using scan tool. See CONTROLLED IDLE SPEED & IAC COUNT table. For controlled idle speed adjustment procedures, see appropriate ON-VEHICLE ADJUSTMENTS article.

THROTTLE POSITION (TP) SENSOR

Note. On 6.5L diesel engines, throttle control is electronic with NO mechanical link from engine to accelerator pedal. The PCM monitors the position of accelerator pedal based on signals from a nonadjustable Accelerator Pedal Position (APP) module. The APP module is mounted above the accelerator pedal.
