Ignition ON, observe the scan tool BCM SWC Bank 1 Status parameter. The reading should be idle and change between SW1-SW7 when pushing the appropriate switch.

IMPORTANTPerform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle before using the Symptom Tables in order to verify that all of the following conditions are true: There are no DTCs set. The control modules can communicate via the serial data link. Review the system operation in order to familiarize yourself with the system functions. Refer to Steering Wheel Controls Description and Operation .

Intermittent

Faulty electrical connections or wiring may be the cause of intermittent conditions. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections .

Preliminary Procedure: Remove the inflatable restraint steering wheel module. Refer to Steering Wheel Inflatable Restraint Module Replacement .
1Steering Wheel Spoke Cover (Qty: 2) Tip: Use a flat-bladed plastic tool to disengage the 2 detent tabs and carefully pull cover from the 2 retainers.
2Steering Wheel Control Switch Screw (Qty: 4) CAUTION: Refer to Fastener Caution . Tighten: 2 N.m (18 lb in)
3Steering Wheel Control Switch Assembly (Qty: 2) Procedure Radio control switch assembly is shown. Cruise control switch assembly is similar. Disconnect the electrical connector.
