Fastener Tightening Specifications

Scheme 1

1. Release the tabs that retain the air deflector to the fascia.
2. Remove the push-pin retaining the air deflector to the fascia.
3. Remove the air deflector from the fascia.

Scheme 2

1. Install the air deflector to the fascia.
2. Install the push-pin that retains the air deflector to the fascia.
3. Install and fully seat the tabs that retain the air deflector to the fascia.

Scheme 3

1. Remove the front fascia. Refer to «FASCIA REPLACEMENT - FRONT BUMPER (CHEVROLET, GMC)»(ref-188885-S16045010782005090500000) or «FASCIA REPLACEMENT - FRONT BUMPER (OLDSMOBILE)»(ref-188885-S01694090532005090500000) .
2. Remove the impact bar. Refer to «IMPACT BAR REPLACEMENT - FRONT BUMPER»(ref-188885-S20532468702005090500000) .
3. Remove the 3 push-pins that retain the air deflector to the impact bar.
4. Disengage the tabs on the air deflector from the slots in the impact bar.
5. Remove the air deflector from the impact bar.

Scheme 4

1. Install the air deflector to the impact bar.
2. Insert the tabs on the air deflector to the slots in the impact bar.
3. Install the 3 push-pins that retain the air deflector to the impact bar.
4. Install the impact bar. Refer to «IMPACT BAR REPLACEMENT - FRONT BUMPER»(ref-188885-S20532468702005090500000) .
5. Install the fascia. Refer to «FASCIA REPLACEMENT - FRONT BUMPER (CHEVROLET, GMC)»(ref-188885-S16045010782005090500000) or «FASCIA REPLACEMENT - FRONT BUMPER (OLDSMOBILE)»(ref-188885-S01694090532005090500000) .

Scheme 5

1. Remove the front fascia. Refer to «FASCIA REPLACEMENT - FRONT BUMPER (CHEVROLET, GMC)»(ref-188885-S16045010782005090500000) or «FASCIA REPLACEMENT - FRONT BUMPER (OLDSMOBILE)»(ref-188885-S01694090532005090500000) .
2. Remove the impact bar. Refer to «IMPACT BAR REPLACEMENT - FRONT BUMPER»(ref-188885-S20532468702005090500000) .
3. Disengage the tabs on the air deflector from the slots in the impact bar.
4. Remove the air deflector from the impact bar.

1. Install the air deflector to the impact bar.
2. Insert the tabs on the air deflector to the slots in the impact bar.
3. Install the impact bar. Refer to «IMPACT BAR REPLACEMENT - FRONT BUMPER»(ref-188885-S20532468702005090500000) .
4. Install the fascia. Refer to «FASCIA REPLACEMENT - FRONT BUMPER (CHEVROLET, GMC)»(ref-188885-S16045010782005090500000) or «FASCIA REPLACEMENT - FRONT BUMPER (OLDSMOBILE)»(ref-188885-S01694090532005090500000) .

1. Remove the grille. Refer to GRILLE REPLACEMENT (GMC) or GRILLE REPLACEMENT (OLDSMOBILE) or GRILLE REPLACEMENT (CHEVROLET) in Exterior Trim.
2. Remove the 2 bolts that retains the top of the fascia to the headlamp panel assembly.
3. Remove the push-pin that retains the top of the fascia to the headlamp panel assembly.
4. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to «LIFTING AND JACKING THE VEHICLE»(/chevrolet/trailblazer/i-2001-2006/remont/hoistjack/#jacking-and-lifting__lifting-and-jacking-the-vehicle) in General Information.
5. Remove the push-pins (3) that retain the fascia to the fascia support rods (2).
6. Remove the fog lamps from the fascia. Refer to FOG LAMP REPLACEMENT - FRONT (GMC/CHEVROLET) or FOG LAMP REPLACEMENT - FRONT (OLDSMOBILE) in Lighting Systems.
7. Remove the cornering lamps from the fascia. Refer to CORNERING LAMP REPLACEMENT (GMC/OLDSMOBILE) in Lighting Systems.
8. Remove the air deflector. Refer to «AIR DEFLECTOR REPLACEMENT - FRONT BUMPER FASCIA»(ref-188885-S27876859162005090500000) .
9. Remove the 4 push-pins that retain the bottom of the fascia to the headlamp panel assembly.
10. Release the body side attachment tabs and pull the fascia straight forward from the wheelhouse opening in order to remove the fascia from the vehicle.

1. Position the fascia to the vehicle, ensuring that the body side attachment tabs are fully seated.
2. Install the 4 push-pins that retain the bottom of the fascia to the headlamp panel assembly.
3. Install the push-pins (3) that retain the fascia to the fascia support rods (2).
4. Install the air defector. Refer to «AIR DEFLECTOR REPLACEMENT - FRONT BUMPER FASCIA»(ref-188885-S27876859162005090500000) .
5. Install the cornering lamps. Refer to CORNERING LAMP REPLACEMENT (GMC/OLDSMOBILE) in Lighting Systems.
6. Install the fog lamps. Refer to FOG LAMP REPLACEMENT - FRONT (GMC/CHEVROLET) or FOG LAMP REPLACEMENT - FRONT (OLDSMOBILE) in Lighting Systems.
7. Lower the vehicle. NOTE: Refer to «FASTENER NOTICE»(ref-175132-S17785009232005041500000) in Cautions and Notices.
8. Install the 2 bolts that retain the top of the fascia to the headlamp panel assembly. Tighten Tighten the bolts to 10 N.m (89 lb in).
9. Install the push-pin that retains the center of the top of the fascia to the headlamp panel assembly.

1. Remove the grille. Refer to GRILLE REPLACEMENT (GMC) or GRILLE REPLACEMENT (OLDSMOBILE) or GRILLE REPLACEMENT (CHEVROLET) in Exterior Trim.
2. Remove the 2 bolts that retains the top of the fascia to the headlamp panel assembly.
3. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to «LIFTING AND JACKING THE VEHICLE»(/chevrolet/trailblazer/i-2001-2006/remont/hoistjack/#jacking-and-lifting__lifting-and-jacking-the-vehicle) in General Information.
4. Remove the push-pins (3) that retain the fascia to the fascia support rods (2).
5. Remove the fog lamps from the fascia. Refer to FOG LAMP REPLACEMENT - FRONT (GMC/CHEVROLET) or FOG LAMP REPLACEMENT - FRONT (OLDSMOBILE) in Lighting Systems.
6. Remove the cornering lamps from the fascia. Refer to CORNERING LAMP REPLACEMENT (GMC/OLDSMOBILE) in Lighting Systems.
7. Remove the air deflector from the fascia. Refer to «AIR DEFLECTOR REPLACEMENT - FRONT BUMPER FASCIA»(ref-188885-S27876859162005090500000) .
8. Remove the 4 push-pins that retain the bottom of the fascia to the air dam.
9. Release the body side attachment tabs and pull the fascia straight forward from the wheelhouse opening in order to remove the fascia from the vehicle.

1. Position the fascia to the vehicle, ensuring that the body side attachment tabs are fully seated.
2. Install the 4 push-pins that retain the bottom of the fascia to the air dam.
3. Install the push-pins (3) that retain the fascia to the fascia support rods (2).
4. Install the air deflector to the fascia. Refer to «AIR DEFLECTOR REPLACEMENT - FRONT BUMPER FASCIA»(ref-188885-S27876859162005090500000) .
5. Install the cornering lamps. Refer to CORNERING LAMP REPLACEMENT (GMC/OLDSMOBILE) in Lighting Systems.
6. Install the fog lamps. Refer to FOG LAMP REPLACEMENT - FRONT (GMC/CHEVROLET) or FOG LAMP REPLACEMENT - FRONT (OLDSMOBILE) in Lighting Systems.
7. Lower the vehicle. NOTE: Refer to «FASTENER NOTICE»(ref-175132-S17785009232005041500000) in Cautions and Notices.
8. Install the 2 bolts that retain the top of the fascia to the headlamp panel assembly. Tighten Tighten the bolts to 10 N.m (89 lb in).
9. Install the grille. Refer to GRILLE REPLACEMENT (GMC) or GRILLE REPLACEMENT (OLDSMOBILE) or GRILLE REPLACEMENT (CHEVROLET) in Exterior Trim.

1. Remove the front fascia. Refer to «FASCIA REPLACEMENT - FRONT BUMPER (CHEVROLET, GMC)»(ref-188885-S16045010782005090500000) or «FASCIA REPLACEMENT - FRONT BUMPER (OLDSMOBILE)»(ref-188885-S01694090532005090500000) .
2. Remove the bolts (1) that retain the fascia support rods (2) to the impact bar (5).
3. Remove the fascia support rods from the impact bar.
4. Remove the bolts (1) that retain the impact bar to the frame (2).
5. Remove the impact bar (3) from the frame.
6. Remove the tow hooks from the impact bar.

1. Install the tow hooks to the impact bar.
2. Position the impact bar (3) to the frame (2). NOTE: Refer to «FASTENER NOTICE»(ref-175132-S17785009232005041500000) in Cautions and Notices.
3. Install the bolts (1) that retain the impact bar to the frame. Tighten Tighten the bolts to 85 N.m (63 lb ft).
4. Position the fascia support rods (2) to the impact bar (5).
5. Install the bolts (2) which retain the fascia support rods to the impact bar. Tighten Tighten the bolts to 10 N.m (89 lb in).
6. Install the front fascia. Refer to «FASCIA REPLACEMENT - FRONT BUMPER (CHEVROLET, GMC)»(ref-188885-S16045010782005090500000) or «FASCIA REPLACEMENT - FRONT BUMPER (OLDSMOBILE)»(ref-188885-S01694090532005090500000) .

1. Remove the backup lamp socket assemblies from the backup lamp housings. Refer to BACKUP LAMP REPLACEMENT (GMC) in Lighting Systems.
2. Remove the lower fascia push-pins.
3. Remove the screws from the rear wheelhouse flanges.
4. Remove the upper retaining bolts from the back of the fascia.
5. Remove the fascia from the vehicle.

1. Position the fascia to the vehicle impact bar. NOTE: Refer to «FASTENER NOTICE»(ref-175132-S17785009232005041500000) in Cautions and Notices.
2. Install the upper retaining bolts to the fascia. Tighten Tighten the bolts to 2.5 N.m (22 lb in).
3. Install the screws that retain the fascia to the wheelhouse flanges. Tighten Tighten the screws to 2 N.m (18 lb in).
4. Install and fully seat the lower push-pins.
5. Install the backup lamp socket assemblies. Refer to BACKUP LAMP REPLACEMENT (GMC) in Lighting Systems.

1. Remove the spare tire carrier. Refer to TIRE HOIST AND SHAFT REPLACEMENT in Tires and Wheels.
2. Remove the rear fascia. Refer to «FASCIA REPLACEMENT - REAR BUMPER»(ref-188885-S41831375882005090500000) .
3. Disconnect the trailer/towing receptacle electrical connector.
4. Rotate the trailer/towing receptacle assembly counterclockwise and remove from the vehicle.
5. Remove the 4 rearward bolts that retain the impact bar assembly to the frame rails.
6. While an assistant holds the impact bar (1) assembly in place, remove the remaining 2 retaining bolts.
7. Remove the impact bar (1) assembly from the vehicle with an assistant.

1. Position the impact bar (1) assembly to the vehicle with an assistant. NOTE: Refer to «FASTENER NOTICE»(ref-175132-S17785009232005041500000) in Cautions and Notices.
2. Install the bolts that retain the rear impact bar to the frame. Tighten Tighten the rear impact bar bolts to 364 N.m (268 lb ft).
3. Install the trailer/towing receptacle assembly to the bracket and rotate clockwise until fully seated.
4. Connect the trailer/towing receptacle electrical connector.
5. Install the rear fascia. Refer to «FASCIA REPLACEMENT - REAR BUMPER»(ref-188885-S41831375882005090500000) .
6. Install the spare tire carrier. Refer to TIRE HOIST AND SHAFT REPLACEMENT in Tires and Wheels.
