RIDE HEIGHT

Note. Proper ride height is necessary for correct wheel alignment. Before measuring ride height, ensure tire inflation pressure is correct, cargo compartment is empty, and fuel tank is full (at least half full on Tracker). On models equipped with Automatic Level Control (ALC) system, ensure ALC system is operational. If suspension height is not as specified, check ALC system.

RIDE HEIGHT SPECIFICATIONS

JACKING & HOISTING

CAUTIONSome models are equipped with Automatic Level Control (ALC). When lifting vehicle on a hoist, it is important that rear axle trim height remains at normal height at all times to prevent damage to auto level control air compressor. If possible, use a hoist that supports rear tires. If a frame contact hoist must be used, support rear axle with 2 additional jack stands.

Put floor jack or vehicle hoist under vehicle at proper lifting points. (Scheme 11)- (Scheme 15). If raising vehicle on a twin post hoist, do not damage suspension components, rear axle cover, or steering linkage.

"A" & "B" Series (Front Camber)

  1. Raise and support vehicle. Remove front wheel. Remove strut. Put strut in a vise.Use a file to elongate bolt hole at lower end of strut. (Scheme 16)
  2. Install strut, but DO NOT fully tighten strut mounting bolts at knuckle. Lower vehicle. Adjust camber to specification. See «WHEEL ALIGNMENT SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-96453-S33388109992001041600000) table. Tighten bolts to specification. See «TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-96453-S32608667052001041600000).

"B" Series (Rear Camber)

Note. Rear camber is adjustable on 4WD models only.

Raise and support vehicle. Remove rear wheel. Loosen rear lower control arm mounting bolts. Loosen rear lower control arm front cam bolt. Reinstall wheel. Adjust camber to specification. See WHEEL ALIGNMENT SPECIFICATIONS table. Tighten bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS table.

"C" & "K" Old Style & "G" Series (Frame Angle)

  1. Position vehicle on smooth, level surface. Using inclinometer or bubble protractor, measure frame angle. Determine if frame angle is up-in-rear or down-in-rear.
  2. To determine corrected caster reading with various frame angles and caster readings apply one of the following rules: Down-in-rear frame angle must be subtracted from a positive caster reading. Up-in-rear frame angle must be added to a positive caster reading. Down-in-rear frame angle must be added to a negative caster reading. Up-in-rear frame angle must be subtracted from a negative caster reading.

If corrected caster is not within specification, adjust caster to specified setting.

"J/E" Series (Caster & Camber)

Caster and camber is not adjustable. Measure caster and camber to check for bent or damaged suspension parts. See WHEEL ALIGNMENT SPECIFICATIONS table. Replace damaged components if necessary.

"L" & "S" Series (Caster & Camber)

Loosen nuts securing upper control arm shaft to frame. (Scheme 20) Remove original shims from bolts, and add or remove shims until caster and camber are within specification. See WHEEL ALIGNMENT SPECIFICATIONS table. Tighten nuts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS.

"M" & "T" Series (Caster & Camber)

Loosen nut on end of each bolt securing upper control arm to frame brackets. (Scheme 20)and (Scheme 21). Rotate bolts until camber and caster are within specification. See WHEEL ALIGNMENT SPECIFICATIONS table. Tighten nuts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS.

"U" Series - All Models (Caster)

Caster is not adjustable. Measure caster to check for bent or damaged suspension parts. See WHEEL ALIGNMENT SPECIFICATIONS table. Replace damaged components if necessary.

"U" Series (Front Camber)

  1. Raise and support vehicle. Remove front wheel. Remove strut. Put strut in a vise. Use a file to elongate bolt hole at lower end of strut. (Scheme 16)
