Removal (All Models)
- Raise window to fully upward. Tape glass to door frame to prevent it from falling. Disconnect battery negative cable. Remove trim panel pull strap (if equipped). Remove armrest, trim panel, armrest bracket and water deflector.
- Disconnect wiring harness from power window motor. Drill out motor attaching rivets using a 3/16" drill bit. Remove motor. Push regulator forward, then slide it rearward to remove regulator arms from sash and rail. (Scheme 1) WARNING: Window regulator lift arm is under tension from counterbalance spring. Sector gear must be locked to avoid personal injury.
- Fold regulator arms and remove through access hole in door. Drill hole through sector gear and backplate. (Scheme 2)for sector gear and backplate locations. DO NOT drill hole closer than 1/2" to edge of sector gear or backplate.
- Install a 3/4" long sheet metal screw into hole to lock sector gear. Sector gear must be locked to avoid personal injury. Drill out motor attaching rivets using a 3/16" drill bit. Remove motor.
Installation
Fasten motor regulator with 3/16" rivets using Riveter (J-29022). Lubricate motor drive gear and regulator sector teeth. Ensure that motor pinion gear teeth mesh properly with sector gear. Remove screw locking sector gear. To complete installation, reverse removal procedure.

Removal & Installation
Disconnect battery negative cable. Remove door pillar molding. Remove trim panel pull strap (if equipped). Remove window regulator handle and armrest. Remove door trim panel. Remove inner handle housing screws and housing. Disconnect electrical lead from window switch. Remove retaining nut from window switch connector (if equipped). Press in retaining tabs and remove power window switch. To install, reverse removal procedure.
- Remove tailgate trim panel (if equipped). Remove cover. Disconnect control rod from center handle. Remove center handle from tailgate. Disconnect right and left latch rods from control assembly. Remove control assembly from tailgate.
- Lower window and remove outer glass seal by prying clips away from tailgate. Raise or lower window as necessary to gain access to sash channel bolts. Remove sash together with glass from tailgate. Disconnect electrical lead from motor. Disconnect drive cable and wiring harness from motor. WARNING: Window regulator lift arm is under tension from counterbalance spring. Sector gear must be locked to avoid personal injury.
- Remove regulator assembly from tailgate. Drill a 1/8" hole through sector gear and backplate. (Scheme 2)for sector gear and backplate locations. Install a 3/4" long sheet metal screw into hole to lock sector gear. Remove motor-to-regulator attaching screws and remove motor. To install, reverse removal procedure.
Scheme 2
Remove tailgate trim panel (if equipped). Remove cover. Disconnect right latch rod from control assembly. Remove latch together with cut-out switch from tailgate. (Scheme 3) Disconnect wiring harness and remove cut-out switch from latch. To install, reverse removal procedure.
