Communication Interface Module Replacement
If the OnStar® communication interface module is replaced, the setup procedure needs to be performed. Please refer to OnStar Reconfiguration (without TIS2web Gen 3 and prior) or OnStar Reconfiguration (with TIS2web Gen 4 and later) .
Radio Replacement
If the digital radio receiver is replaced, the following procedure must be performed
Perform the digital radio receiver setup. Refer to Digital Radio Receiver Setup .
EBCM Replacement
If the electronic brake control module (EBCM) is replaced, the following procedures must be performed

Setup for Component Replacement
The brake fluid pressure sensor is not serviceable. After replacing a brake fluid presure sensor, it may be necessary to perform a brake pressure sensor calibration with the Tech 2 special function, if the DTC resets as a current code.
ECM Replacement
If the engine control module (ECM) is replaced, the following procedures must be performed
- The ECM Reprogramming-Refer to «Service Programming System (SPS)»(ref-278020-S31291553112008012100000) .
- The CKP Variation Learn-Refer to «Crankshaft Position System Variation Learn»(ref-278028-S00469265552008012100000) .
- The Theft Deterrent Programming-Refer to «Theft Deterrent Control Module Programming and Setup»(ref-278020-S28142439412008012100000) .
- The Fuel Composition Diagnostic-Refer to «Fuel Composition Diagnosis»(ref-278031-S42568593352008012100000) for the 5.3L (LMG or LC9).
The replacement of some components will require a setup procedure for complete repair.
If any of the following components are replaced, a CKP Variation Learn Procedure must be performed. Refer to Crankshaft Position System Variation Learn .
- Engine replacement
- Any engine repair that disturbs the crankshaft position (CKP) sensor or its relationship with the crankshaft reluctor wheel
- CKP sensor
If the engine control module (ECM) is replaced, the following procedures must be performed
- Capture the Option data.
- Enable ECM Reprogramming-Refer to «Service Programming System (SPS)»(ref-278020-S31291553112008012100000) .
- Restore the Option data in the new ECM.
- Start and idle vehicle.
- Using the scan tool, perform the Turbocharger Learn Procedure. Refer to «Turbocharger Learn»(ref-278042-S03522401542008012100000) .
- Perform a DPF Regeneration Enable. Refer to «Exhaust Particulate Filter Cleaning (DPF Service Regeneration)»(ref-278055-S32938361252008012100000) or «Exhaust Particulate Filter Cleaning (DPF Regeneration Enable)»(ref-278055-S15902559512008012100000) .
- If necessary, perform the following: Theft Deterrent-Refer to «Theft Deterrent Control Module Programming and Setup»(ref-278020-S28142439412008012100000) . The Fuel Injector Flow Rate Programming-Refer to «Fuel Injector Flow Rate Programming»(ref-278042-S24231895212008012100000) . Engine Oil Life Remaining-Use scan tool to reset Engine Oil Life. Fuel Filter Life-Use scan tool to reset Fuel Filter Life.
The replacement of some components will require a setup procedure for complete repair.
If any of the following components are replaced, a Turbocharger Learn Procedure must be performed.
- Turbocharger
- Turbocharger Vane Position Sensor
- Turbocharger Vane Position Control Solenoid Valve
GPCM Replacement
If the glow plug controller (GPCM) is replaced, the following procedures must be performed.

- «Service Programming System (SPS)»(ref-278020-S31291553112008012100000) for GPCM programming

HVAC Control Module Replacement
If the HVAC control module is replaced it must be programmed with the latest operating software and vehicle calibrations. Refer to Service Programming System (SPS) .
Actuator Replacement
If an actuator is replaced, the following procedure must be performed
- Re-Calibrating Actuators-Refer to «Actuator Recalibration»(ref-277999-S08550321602008012100000) for the manual system.
- Re-Calibrating Actuators-Refer to «Actuator Recalibration»(ref-277997-S14196406832008012100000) for the automatic system.
If the radio is replaced, the following procedure must be performed
Perform the radio setup procedure. Refer to Radio Setup .
Remote Control Door Lock Receiver Replacement
If the remote control door lock receiver is replaced, the following procedures must be performed
- Replace remote control door lock receiver (RCDLR) Module.
- Install Tech 2 and CANDI module.
- Select Service Programming System and follow on screen instructions. Refer to «Service Programming System (SPS)»(ref-278020-S31291553112008012100000) .
- With Tech 2 enter Diagnostics and build vehicle with proper Year, Make, Model and Options.
- Select Body and Accessories.
- Select Keyless Entry.
- Select Module Setup, RCDLR.
- Select Program Key Fobs. Refer to «Transmitter Programming»(ref-278024-S04556067732008012100000) .
- Set up a new remote control door lock receiver.
- Select Tire Type/Pressure selection. Refer to «Control Module Setup»(ref-278032-S04797100782008012100000) .
- Perform Tire Pressure Sensor Learn mode-Refer to «Tire Pressure Sensor Learn»(ref-278032-S19679276872008012100000) .
Transfer Case Shift Control Module Replacement
If the transfer case shift control module is replaced, the transfer case shift control module reprogramming procedure must be performed. Refer to Service Programming System (SPS) .
Transmission Control Module (TCM) Replacement
If the TCM is replaced, TCM Reprogramming must be performed. Refer to Service Programming System (SPS) .
