REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

CAUTIONWhen battery is disconnected, vehicle computer and memory systems may lose memory data. Driveability problems may exist until computer systems have completed a relearn cycle. See COMPUTER RELEARN PROCEDURES article in GENERAL INFORMATION before disconnecting battery.

Removal

  1. Remove trim panel. See «TRIM PANEL»(ref-142985-S07170245872002082100000).
  2. Remove nuts holding mirror to door. (Scheme 9)
  3. Disconnect mirror wiring connector and remove mirror from door.

Installation

  1. Connect mirror wiring.
  2. Install nuts holding mirror to door.
  3. Install trim panel. See «TRIM PANEL»(ref-142985-S07170245872002082100000) .
  1. Remove trim panel pull strap (if present). Remove the plug on each side of the strap and the screws underneath.
  2. Remove door handle bezel.
  3. Remove armrest screws (58). (Scheme 10)
  4. Remove armrest pad (59).
  5. Remove window handle, if present, with J 9886-01. See «WINDOW REGULATOR HANDLE»(ref-142985-S04964673162002082100000) and «SPECIAL TOOLS»(ref-142985-S27968051032002082100000)
  6. Use Trim Pad Remover (J 24595-C) to remove nylon fasteners (70) from inner door panel. See «SPECIAL TOOLS»(ref-142985-S27968051032002082100000).
  7. Remove door trim pad (57).
  8. Feed bezel with switches through cut-out in trim panel.

  1. Install nylon fasteners (70) to the door trim panel if any remained in the door. Replace any broken nylon fasteners. (Scheme 10)
  2. Feed bezel with switches through cut-out in trim panel.
  3. Install door trim panel.
  4. Put trim pad (57) in place on door and push the nylon fasteners (70) into the holes on the door.
  5. Install window handle, if used. See «WINDOW REGULATOR HANDLE»(ref-142985-S04964673162002082100000).
  6. Install armrest pad (59).
  7. Install armrest screws (58).
  8. Install door handle bezel.
  9. Install pull strap, if present.
  1. Insert Door Handle Clip Remover (J 9886-01) between the handle (25) and the bearing plate. (Scheme 11) See «SPECIAL TOOLS»(ref-142985-S27968051032002082100000).
  2. Align the tool parallel with the door handle and push to disengage the spring clip (24).
  3. Pull the handle (25) from the door.
  4. Remove the bearing plate.

  1. Install bearing plate.
  2. Place the window in the raised position.
  3. Put the spring clip (24) onto the handle (25). (Scheme 11)
  4. Insert the handle onto the door so that the handle is pointing toward the front of the door.
  5. Push on the handle (25) until the spring clip (24) engages the window regulator shaft.
