ENGINE SYSTEM WARNING LIGHT (1988)
The ENGINE SYSTEM warning light indicates a malfunction in the engine control system. When functioning correctly, the light comes on when ignition is turned on and goes out when engine is started. If light fails to come on with ignition on or is on when engine is running, a service is indicated. A 2-digit trouble code will be stored in memory if a problem is detected. When problems causing trouble codes are repaired, the light should return to normal function.
CHARGING SYSTEM LIGHT
The charging system light indicates a problem with the electrical charging system, possibly a loose alternator belt. When functioning correctly, the light comes on when ignition is turned on and goes out when engine is started. If light comes on while driving, a service is indicated. The battery charge could be drained if warning is ignored.
BRAKE SYSTEM WARNING LIGHT
The BRAKE system warning light indicates a problem with the braking system. When functioning correctly, the light comes on when ignition is turned on and goes out when the engine is started. The light will also come on when the parking brake has been set. If light remains on while driving and the parking brake has been fully released, a service is indicated.
