Power Mirror System Components

The power mirror system consists of the following components

  1. Mirror direction switch - Controls the left, right, up and down movements of the mirrors
  2. Mirror select switch - Allows the operator to select the mirror to be moved
  3. Left outside mirror - Contains both the horizontal and vertical mirror motors
  4. Right outside mirror - Contains both the horizontal and vertical mirror motors
  5. BCM ELECT 7.5A fuse - Located in the body control module (BCM) fuse panel and supplies power for the power mirror system

Each of the outside power mirrors contains 2 motors. The up-down motor operates the vertical directions and the left-right motor operates the horizontal directions. Each of the power mirror motors are internally circuit breaker protected.

Power Mirror System Controls

The outside mirror switch incorporates a mirror select switch and a 4 position mirror direction switch.

The mirror select switch allows the driver to select the mirror to be moved by pressing the switch to L position enabling the left outside mirror or pressing the switch to R position enabling the right outside mirror.

The mirror direction switch is a 4 position switch that allows the operator to move the selected mirror up, down, left or right.

Inside Rearview Mirror with the Automatic Day-Night Feature System Components

The inside rearview mirror with the automatic day-night feature system consist of the inside rearview mirror.

Power and Ground of the Inside Rearview Mirror

  1. With the ignition ON, ignition voltage is supplied to the mirror from the HVAC/IP IGN 10-amp fuse in the body control module (BCM).
  2. Ground for the mirror is provided by G401.

Switches of the Inside Rearview Mirror with the Automatic Day-Night Feature and OnStar®

The inside rearview mirror has 4 switches that perform the following functions

  1. The on/off switch located at the left side of the mirror turns the automatic day-night feature on/off.
  2. The 3 switches on the right side of the mirror are for OnStar® operation. For more information, refer to «OnStar Description and Operation»(ref-299576-S18015915722008092400000) .
