Circuit/System Verification

Ignition ON, command the A/T shift lock control solenoid ON and OFF with the scan tool. The gearshift lever should be unlocked when ON and locked in PARK when OFF.

Symptoms - Automatic Transmission Shift Lock Control

1. Perform the «Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle»(ref-299594-S04632865592008092400000) before using the Symptom Tables in order to verify that all of the following are true: There are no DTCs set. The control modules can communicate via the serial data link.
2. Review the system operation in order to familiarize yourself with the system functions. Refer to «Automatic Transmission Shift Lock Control Description and Operation»(ref-299624-S05594237592008092400000) .

Intermittent

Faulty electrical connections or wiring may be the cause of intermittent conditions. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections .

Scan Tool Reference

Control Module References for scan tool information

1. Ignition ON, observe the scan tool BCM Shift Lock Solenoid Command parameter. The parameter should change from LOCK to UNLOCK when the brake pedal is depressed. If not the specified parameter, replace the BCM.
2. Press the brake pedal, the vehicle operator should be able to move the shifter lever out of the park position.
