Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the battery negative cable(s). Refer to «Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection»(/chevrolet/express-g2500/2013-2013/remont/charging-system/#battery-charging-system-and-starting-system) .
  2. Disable the SIR system. Refer to «SIR Disabling and Enabling»(/chevrolet/express-g2500/2013-2013/remont/airbag/#supplemental-inflatable-restraint-system__sir-disabling-and-enabling) .
  3. Remove the drivers knee bolster. Refer to «Driver Knee Bolster Replacement»(/chevrolet/express-g2500/2013-2013/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#instrument-panel-trim-and-console-trim) .
  4. Remove the drivers knee bolster bracket. Refer to «Driver Knee Bolster Bracket Replacement»(/chevrolet/express-g2500/2013-2013/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#instrument-panel-trim-and-console-trim) .
  5. Remove the instrument panel (I/P) cluster trim plate bezel. Refer to «Instrument Panel Cluster Trim Plate Bezel Replacement»(/chevrolet/express-g2500/2013-2013/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#instrument-panel-trim-and-console-trim) .
  6. Remove the instrument cluster assembly. Refer to «Instrument Cluster Replacement»(/chevrolet/express-g2500/2013-2013/remont/gauges-instrument-panels/#instrument-panel-system-displays-and-gauges) .
  7. Remove the steering column. Refer to «Steering Column Replacement»(/chevrolet/express-g2500/2013-2013/remont/steering-column-switches/#steering-wheel-and-steering-column) .
  8. Remove the left hinge pillar trim panel. Refer to «Body Hinge Pillar Trim Panel Replacement»(/chevrolet/express-g2500/2013-2013/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim-and-interior-paneling) .
  9. Remove the right hinge pillar trim panel. Refer to «Body Hinge Pillar Trim Panel Replacement»(/chevrolet/express-g2500/2013-2013/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim-and-interior-paneling) .
  10. Remove the passenger knee bolster. Refer to «Passenger Knee Bolster Replacement»(/chevrolet/express-g2500/2013-2013/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#instrument-panel-trim-and-console-trim) .
  11. Remove the passenger knee bolster bracket. Refer to «Passenger Knee Bolster Bracket Replacement»(/chevrolet/express-g2500/2013-2013/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#instrument-panel-trim-and-console-trim) .
  12. Remove the body control module (BCM). Refer to «Body Control Module Replacement»(/chevrolet/express-g2500/2013-2013/remont/communication-devices/#data-communication-system) .
  13. Remove the I/P upper trim pad. Refer to «Instrument Panel Upper Trim Pad Replacement»(/chevrolet/express-g2500/2013-2013/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#instrument-panel-trim-and-console-trim) .
  14. Remove the instrument panel SIR module. Refer to «Airbag Instrument Panel Module Replacement»(/chevrolet/express-g2500/2013-2013/remont/airbag/#supplemental-inflatable-restraint-system) .
  15. Remove the engine cover. Refer to «Engine Cover Replacement»(/chevrolet/express-g2500/2013-2013/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim-and-interior-paneling) .
  16. Remove the radio. Refer to «Radio Replacement»(/chevrolet/express-g2500/2013-2013/remont/entertainment-systems/#cellular-system-entertainment-system-and-navigation-system) .
  17. Remove the heater and the A/C control. Refer to «Heater and Air Conditioning Control Replacement»(/chevrolet/express-g2500/2013-2013/remont/manual-hvac-system/#hvac-system-manual) .
  18. Remove the bolts that retain the I/P carrier to the vehicle.
  19. Rotate the I/P carrier out and downward in order to gain access to the HVAC ducts and the electrical harness.
  20. Remove the bolts that retain the air ducts to the I/P carrier.
  21. Remove the HVAC air distribution duct from the I/P carrier. Refer to «Air Distributor Duct Replacement»(/chevrolet/express-g2500/2013-2013/remont/manual-hvac-system/#heating-ventilation-and-air-conditioning) .
  22. Note the location and positioning of the Instrument Panel Wiring harness.
  23. Remove the wiring harness from the I/P carrier.
  24. Remove the I/P carrier from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Position the I/P carrier to the vehicle.
  2. Install the wiring harness to the I/P carrier as noted in the removal procedure.
  3. Install the HVAC air distribution duct to the I/P carrier. Refer to «Air Distributor Duct Replacement»(/chevrolet/express-g2500/2013-2013/remont/manual-hvac-system/#heating-ventilation-and-air-conditioning) .
  4. Carefully rotate the I/P carrier up and install the additional components.
  5. Install the bolts that retain the I/P carrier to the vehicle and tighten to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).
  6. Install the heater and the A/C control. Refer to «Heater and Air Conditioning Control Replacement»(/chevrolet/express-g2500/2013-2013/remont/manual-hvac-system/#hvac-system-manual) .
  7. Install the radio. Refer to «Radio Replacement»(/chevrolet/express-g2500/2013-2013/remont/entertainment-systems/#cellular-system-entertainment-system-and-navigation-system) .
  8. Install the engine cover. Refer to «Engine Cover Replacement»(/chevrolet/express-g2500/2013-2013/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim-and-interior-paneling) .
  9. Install the instrument panel SIR module. Refer to «Airbag Instrument Panel Module Replacement»(/chevrolet/express-g2500/2013-2013/remont/airbag/#supplemental-inflatable-restraint-system) .
  10. Install the I/P upper trim pad. Refer to «Instrument Panel Upper Trim Pad Replacement»(/chevrolet/express-g2500/2013-2013/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#instrument-panel-trim-and-console-trim) .
  11. Install the BCM. Refer to «Body Control Module Replacement»(/chevrolet/express-g2500/2013-2013/remont/communication-devices/#data-communication-system) .
  12. Install the passenger knee bolster bracket. Refer to «Passenger Knee Bolster Bracket Replacement»(/chevrolet/express-g2500/2013-2013/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#instrument-panel-trim-and-console-trim) .
  13. Install the passenger knee bolster. Refer to «Passenger Knee Bolster Replacement»(/chevrolet/express-g2500/2013-2013/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#instrument-panel-trim-and-console-trim) .
  14. Install the right hinge pillar trim panel. Refer to «Body Hinge Pillar Trim Panel Replacement»(/chevrolet/express-g2500/2013-2013/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim-and-interior-paneling) .
  15. Install the left hinge pillar trim panel. Refer to «Body Hinge Pillar Trim Panel Replacement»(/chevrolet/express-g2500/2013-2013/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim-and-interior-paneling) .
  16. Install the steering column. Refer to «Steering Column Replacement»(/chevrolet/express-g2500/2013-2013/remont/steering-column-switches/#steering-wheel-and-steering-column) .
  17. Install the instrument cluster assembly. Refer to «Instrument Cluster Replacement»(/chevrolet/express-g2500/2013-2013/remont/gauges-instrument-panels/#instrument-panel-system-displays-and-gauges) .
  18. Install the I/P cluster trim plate bezel. Refer to «Instrument Panel Cluster Trim Plate Bezel Replacement»(/chevrolet/express-g2500/2013-2013/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#instrument-panel-trim-and-console-trim) .
  19. Install the drivers knee bolster bracket. Refer to «Driver Knee Bolster Bracket Replacement»(/chevrolet/express-g2500/2013-2013/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#instrument-panel-trim-and-console-trim) .
  20. Install the drivers knee bolster. Refer to «Driver Knee Bolster Replacement»(/chevrolet/express-g2500/2013-2013/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#instrument-panel-trim-and-console-trim) .
  21. Enable the SIR system. Refer to «SIR Disabling and Enabling»(/chevrolet/express-g2500/2013-2013/remont/airbag/#supplemental-inflatable-restraint-system__sir-disabling-and-enabling) .
  22. Connect the battery negative cable(s). Refer to «Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection»(/chevrolet/express-g2500/2013-2013/remont/charging-system/#battery-charging-system-and-starting-system) .
