Fastener Tightening Specifications
Removal Procedure
- Remove the front bumper. Refer to «Front Bumper Replacement»(/chevrolet/colorado/i-2004-2012/remont/exterior-body-panels/#bumper-system-front-fascia) .
- Remove the right tow hook nuts and bolts from the frame rail.
- Remove the right tow hook from the vehicle.
- Remove the left tow hook nuts and bolts from the frame rail.
- Remove the left tow hook from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
- Install the left tow hook to the frame rail.
- Install the nuts and the bolts to the frame rail. Tighten: Tighten the bolts to 100 N.m (74 lb ft).
- Install the left tow hook to the frame rail.
- Install the nuts and the bolts to the frame rail. Tighten: Tighten the bolts to 100 N.m (74 lb ft).
- Install the front bumper. Refer to «Front Bumper Replacement»(/chevrolet/colorado/i-2004-2012/remont/exterior-body-panels/#bumper-system-front-fascia) .
- Remove the front shield bolts (1, 2).
- Remove the front shield from the vehicle.
- Remove the rear shield bolts (1, 2).
- Remove the rear shield from the vehicle.
- Install the rear shield to the vehicle.
- Install the rear shield bolts (1). Tighten: Tighten the bolts to 75 N.m (55 lb ft).
- Install the rear shield bolts (2). Tighten: Tighten the bolts to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).
- Install the front shield to the vehicle.
- Install the front shield bolts (1). Tighten: Tighten the bolts to 60 N.m (44 lb ft).
- Install the front shield bolts (2). Tighten: Tighten the bolts to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).
- Raise the vehicle. Refer to «Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle»(/chevrolet/colorado/i-2004-2012/remont/hoistjack/#general-information) .
- Remove the crossmember mounting nuts and bolts.
- Remove the crossmember from the vehicle.
- Install the crossmember to the vehicle.
- Perform the following procedure before installing the bolts. Remove all traces of the original adhesive patch. Clean the threads of the bolt with denatured alcohol or equivalent and allow to dry. Apply Threadlocker GM P/N 12345493 (Canadian P/N 10953488).
- Install the bolts and the nuts. Tighten: Tighten the bolts to 60 N.m (44 lb ft).
- Lower the vehicle.
- Raise the vehicle. Refer to «Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle»(/chevrolet/colorado/i-2004-2012/remont/hoistjack/#general-information) .
- Support the transmission with a suitable stand or jack.
- Remove the nuts retaining the transmission mount to the transmission support. Refer to «Transmission Mount Replacement (2WD)»(/chevrolet/colorado/i-2004-2012/remont/automatic-trans/#how-to-overhaul-the-automatic-transmission-4l60-e4l65-e4l70-e-removal-installation-service-troubleshooting-diagnosis) or «Transmission Mount Replacement (4WD)»(/chevrolet/colorado/i-2004-2012/remont/automatic-trans/#how-to-overhaul-the-automatic-transmission-4l60-e4l65-e4l70-e-removal-installation-service-troubleshooting-diagnosis) for the 4L60E/4L65E transmission or «Transmission Mount Replacement (4WD)»(/chevrolet/colorado/i-2004-2012/remont/manual-trans/#manual-transmission-aisin-ar5) or «Transmission Mount Replacement (RPO Z71)»(/chevrolet/colorado/i-2004-2012/remont/manual-trans/#manual-transmission-aisin-ar5) or «Transmission Mount Replacement (RPO Z85 and ZQ8)»(/chevrolet/colorado/i-2004-2012/remont/manual-trans/#manual-transmission-aisin-ar5) for the Aisin AR5 transmission.
- Raise the transmission.
- Remove the vertical bolts retaining the transmission support to the frame.
- Remove the horizontal nuts and the bolts retaining the transmission support to the frame.
- Remove the transmission support from the frame.
- Install the transmission support to the frame.
- Loose install the horizontal nuts and the bolts retaining the transmission support to the frame.
- Loose install the vertical bolts retaining the transmission support to the frame. Tighten: Tighten the horizontal nuts to 50 N.m (37 lb ft). Tighten the vertical bolts to 100 N.m (74 lb ft).
- Lower the transmission.
- Install the nuts to the transmission mount. Refer to «Transmission Mount Replacement (2WD)»(/chevrolet/colorado/i-2004-2012/remont/automatic-trans/#how-to-overhaul-the-automatic-transmission-4l60-e4l65-e4l70-e-removal-installation-service-troubleshooting-diagnosis) or «Transmission Mount Replacement (4WD)»(/chevrolet/colorado/i-2004-2012/remont/automatic-trans/#how-to-overhaul-the-automatic-transmission-4l60-e4l65-e4l70-e-removal-installation-service-troubleshooting-diagnosis) for the 4L60E/4L65E transmission or «Transmission Mount Replacement (4WD)»(/chevrolet/colorado/i-2004-2012/remont/manual-trans/#manual-transmission-aisin-ar5) or «Transmission Mount Replacement (RPO Z71)»(/chevrolet/colorado/i-2004-2012/remont/manual-trans/#manual-transmission-aisin-ar5) or «Transmission Mount Replacement (RPO Z85 and ZQ8)»(/chevrolet/colorado/i-2004-2012/remont/manual-trans/#manual-transmission-aisin-ar5) for the Aisin AR5 transmission.
- Remove the stand or jack.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Raise the vehicle. Refer to «Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle»(/chevrolet/colorado/i-2004-2012/remont/hoistjack/#general-information) in General Information.
- Support the transmission with a suitable stand or jack.
- Remove the nuts retaining the transmission mount to the transmission support. - Raise the transmission.
- Remove the vertical bolts retaining the transmission support to the frame.
- Remove the horizontal nuts and the bolts retaining the transmission support to the frame.
- Remove the transmission support from the frame.
- Install the transmission support to the frame.
- Loosely install the horizontal nuts and the bolts retaining the transmission support to the frame.
- Loosely install the vertical bolts retaining the transmission support to the frame. Tighten: Tighten the horizontal nuts to 50 N.m (37 lb ft). Tighten the vertical bolts to 100 N.m (74 lb ft).
- Lower the transmission.
- Install the nuts to the transmission mount. - Remove the stand or jack.
- Lower the vehicle.
Support the frame with the hoist when you change the body mounts. If only one mount is changed, loosen and lower the entire side on which the mount in question is being replaced.
- Raise the vehicle on a hoist. Refer to «Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle»(/chevrolet/colorado/i-2004-2012/remont/hoistjack/#general-information) .
- Use jack stands or the equivalent to support the body where the mounts will be replaced.
- Remove the bolt/cushion assembly at the number 1 and the number 2 body mount.
- Remove the bolt/cushion assembly at the number 3 body mount, short wheel base vehicles.
- Remove the bolt/cushion assembly at the number 3 and the number 4 body mount, long wheel base vehicles.
- Disconnect or remove any wiring harness or component that may interfere with the lowering of the frame.
- Lower the hoist in order to leave the body supported by the jack stands.
- Remove the upper cushions at the number 1 and the number 2 body mount.
- Remove the upper cushions at the number 3 body mount, short wheel base vehicles.
- Remove the upper cushions at the number 3 and the number 4 body mount, long wheel base vehicles.
- Install the upper cushions to the number 3 and the number 4 body mount, long wheel base vehicles.
- Install the upper cushion to the number 3 body mount, short wheel base vehicles.
- Install the upper cushions to the number 1 and the number 2 body mount.
- Raise the hoist to allow the body mount bolts to be installed.
- Connect or install any wiring harness or component that was removed to allow for the lowering of the frame.
- Install the bolt/cushion assembly to the number 1 and the number 2 body mount.
- Install the bolt/cushion assembly to the number 3 body mount, short wheel base vehicles.
- Install the bolt/cushion assembly to the number 3 and the number 4 body mount, long wheel base vehicles. Tighten: Tighten the bolts to 115 N.m (85 lb ft).
- Remove the jack stands.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to «Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle»(/chevrolet/colorado/i-2004-2012/remont/hoistjack/#general-information) .
- Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to «Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation»(/chevrolet/colorado/i-2004-2012/remont/wheel-tire-system/#tires-and-wheels__tire-and-wheel-removal-and-installation) .
- Remove the push-pins from the inner wheelhouse liner.
- Remove the inner wheelhouse liner from the vehicle.
- Remove the push-pins from the outer wheelhouse liner.
- Remove the outer wheelhouse liner (2).
- Install the outer wheelhouse liner (2) to the vehicle.
- Install the rearward push-pin into the outer wheelhouse liner.
- Install the remaining push-pins into the outer wheelhouse liner.
- Install the inner wheelhouse liner to the vehicle.
- Install the push-pins into the inner wheelhouse liner.
- Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to «Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation»(/chevrolet/colorado/i-2004-2012/remont/wheel-tire-system/#tires-and-wheels__tire-and-wheel-removal-and-installation) .
- Lower the vehicle.
