Eliminating Unwanted Odors in Vehicles

GM Vehicle Care Odor Eliminator, GM P/N 12378554 (Canadian P/N 88901678), may control or eliminate odors in the interior and luggage compartment areas of GM vehicles. This non-toxic, biodegradable, odorless product has been shown to greatly reduce or remove the following types of odor

  1. Objectionable smells of mold and mildew resulting from vehicle water leaks
  2. Customer created odors, such as smoke

You may safely use GM Vehicle Care Odor Eliminator on fabrics, vinyl, leather, carpet, and sound deadening materials. You may also induce this product into HVAC modules and instrument panel ducts for the control of non-bacterial related odors.

IMPORTANTThis product leaves no residual scent and should not be used as an air freshener.

This product may result in the permanent elimination of an odor and may be preferable to customers whose allergies make them sensitive to perfumes. This product may effectively remove odors when directly contacting the odor source. In cases such as water leaks, use this product with diagnostic procedures to first eliminate the primary cause of the odor. Then use further applications on the residual odor to permanently correct the vehicle condition.

How to Use this Product

  1. Spray GM Vehicle Care Odor Eliminator directly or as an additive with carpet shampoo in steam cleaners.
  2. Do not use on any interior surface that plain water would deteriorate, because this product will have the same effect. Also avoid letting this product come into contact with vinegar or any acidic substance. Acid-based products will hamper the effectiveness of GM Vehicle Care Odor Eliminator.
  3. Instructions and cautions are printed on the bottle, but additional help is available. If you encounter a persistent or recurring odor, you may call to obtain additional information and usage suggestions. In the USA, call 1-800-955-8591. In Canada, call 1-800-977-4145.

Removal Procedure

  1. Gently pull the hinge pillar trim panel in order to release the retaining clips.
  2. Remove the hinge pillar trim from the vehicle.
  3. Inspect the hinge pillar trim panel for broken or missing retaining clips. Replace the retaining clips as needed.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the hinge pillar trim panel to the vehicle.
  2. Align the locator pins. Press on the hinge pillar trim panel in order to engage the retaining clips.
  1. Remove the front passenger seat. Refer to «Seat Replacement»(/chevrolet/chevy-express-g3500/1996-2012/remont/seats/#seat-system) in Seats.
  2. Remove the instrument panel lower extension, if equipped. Refer to «Instrument Panel (I/P) Extension Replacement»(/chevrolet/chevy-express-g3500/1996-2012/remont/gauges-instrument-panels/#instrument-panel-system-displays-gauges-and-console) in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
  3. Remove the left knee bolster. Refer to «Knee Bolster Replacement - Left»(/chevrolet/chevy-express-g3500/1996-2012/remont/gauges-instrument-panels/#instrument-panel-system-displays-gauges-and-console) .
  4. Remove the right knee bolster. Refer to «Knee Bolster Replacement - Right»(/chevrolet/chevy-express-g3500/1996-2012/remont/gauges-instrument-panels/#instrument-panel-system-displays-gauges-and-console) .
  5. Release the engine cover retainers (1, 3).
  6. Remove the engine cover from the vehicle (2).
  1. Install the engine cover to the vehicle (2).
  2. Install the engine cover retainers (1, 3).
  3. Install the left knee bolster. Refer to «Knee Bolster Replacement - Left»(/chevrolet/chevy-express-g3500/1996-2012/remont/gauges-instrument-panels/#instrument-panel-system-displays-gauges-and-console) .
  4. Install the right knee bolster. Refer to «Knee Bolster Replacement - Right»(/chevrolet/chevy-express-g3500/1996-2012/remont/gauges-instrument-panels/#instrument-panel-system-displays-gauges-and-console) .
  5. Install the instrument panel lower extension, if equipped. Refer to «Instrument Panel (I/P) Extension Replacement»(/chevrolet/chevy-express-g3500/1996-2012/remont/gauges-instrument-panels/#instrument-panel-system-displays-gauges-and-console) .
  6. Install the front passenger seat. Refer to «Seat Replacement»(/chevrolet/chevy-express-g3500/1996-2012/remont/seats/#seat-system) in Seats.
  1. Remove the hinge pillar trim panel. Refer to «Trim Replacement - Hinge Pillar»(/chevrolet/chevy-express-g3500/1996-2012/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  2. Remove the front door lower pillar garnish molding. Refer to «Garnish Molding Replacement - Lower Pillar»(/chevrolet/chevy-express-g3500/1996-2012/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  3. Grasp and gently pull up on the front door stepwell mat in order to release the retaining clips.
  4. Disconnect the electrical connector for the stepwell lamp.
  5. Remove the front door stepwell mat from the vehicle.
  6. Inspect the front door stepwell mat for broken or missing retaining clips. Replace the retaining clips as needed.
  1. Install the front door stepwell mat to the vehicle.
  2. Connect the electrical connector for the stepwell lamp.
  3. Press down on the front door stepwell mat in order to engage the retaining clips.
  4. Install the front door lower pillar garnish molding. Refer to «Garnish Molding Replacement - Lower Pillar»(/chevrolet/chevy-express-g3500/1996-2012/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  5. Install the hinge pillar trim panel. Refer to «Trim Replacement - Hinge Pillar»(/chevrolet/chevy-express-g3500/1996-2012/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  1. Remove the front seats. Refer to «Seat Replacement»(/chevrolet/chevy-express-g3500/1996-2012/remont/seats/#seat-system) in Seats.
  2. Remove the engine cover. Refer to «Engine Cover Replacement»(/chevrolet/chevy-express-g3500/1996-2012/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  3. Remove the hinge pillar trim panel. Refer to «Trim Replacement - Hinge Pillar»(/chevrolet/chevy-express-g3500/1996-2012/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  4. Remove the front door stepwell mat. Refer to «Mat Replacement - Stepwell»(/chevrolet/chevy-express-g3500/1996-2012/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  5. Remove the front floor mat/carpet from the vehicle.
  1. Install the front floor mat/carpet to the vehicle.
  2. Install the front door stepwell mat. Refer to «Mat Replacement - Stepwell»(/chevrolet/chevy-express-g3500/1996-2012/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  3. Install the hinge pillar trim panel. Refer to «Trim Replacement - Hinge Pillar»(/chevrolet/chevy-express-g3500/1996-2012/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  4. Install the engine cover. Refer to «Engine Cover Replacement»(/chevrolet/chevy-express-g3500/1996-2012/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  5. Install the front seats. Refer to «Seat Replacement»(/chevrolet/chevy-express-g3500/1996-2012/remont/seats/#seat-system) in Seats.
  1. Grasp and gently pull the rear of the passenger side rear corner trim panel in order to disengage the retaining clips.
  2. Remove the passenger side rear corner trim panel from the vehicle.
  3. Inspect the passenger side rear corner trim panel for broken or missing retaining clips. Replace the clips as needed.
  1. Install the passenger side rear corner trim panel to the vehicle.
  2. Align the tabs at the front of the passenger side rear corner trim panel.
  3. Press the passenger side rear corner trim panel at the rear in order to engage the retaining clips.

Floor Carpet Drying

If the carpet or the pad or insulator is wet, use the following criteria for drying or for replacing the components

  1. For a 1-piece carpet assembly bonded to a cotton or a fiber padding, replace the entire assembly.
  2. For a 2-piece carpet assembly with a cotton or a fiber padding, replace the padding only. While the carpet is out of the vehicle, dry the carpet using the method described below.
  3. For a 1-piece carpet assembly bonded to a foam padding or attached to a synthetic padding, dry the carpet using the method described below.
  4. For a 2-piece carpet assembly with a synthetic padding, dry the assembly using the method described below.

Drying Method

  1. If you observe puddles of liquid on the carpet face, use a wet vacuum to remove the excess moisture.
  2. Blot the face of the carpet with a towel in order to absorb as much moisture as possible.
  3. Point a fan at the affected area and air dry the carpet.
  1. Remove the rear passenger seats. Refer to «Seat Replacement - Rear Bench»(/chevrolet/chevy-express-g3500/1996-2012/remont/seats/#seat-system) in Seats.
  2. Remove the driver side body side trim panel. Refer to «Trim Panel Replacement - Left Body Side»(/chevrolet/chevy-express-g3500/1996-2012/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  3. Remove the passenger side body side trim panel. Refer to «Trim Panel Replacement - Right Body Side»(/chevrolet/chevy-express-g3500/1996-2012/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  4. Remove the rear floor carpet trim plate. Refer to «Floor Trim Plate Replacement - Rear»(/chevrolet/chevy-express-g3500/1996-2012/remont/exterior-body-panels/#body-rear-end) in Body Rear End.
  5. Remove the side door stepwell mat. Refer to «Mat Replacement - Stepwell»(/chevrolet/chevy-express-g3500/1996-2012/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  6. Remove the rear floor mat/carpet from the vehicle.
  1. Install the rear floor mat/carpet to the vehicle.
  2. Install the side door stepwell mat. Refer to «Mat Replacement - Stepwell»(/chevrolet/chevy-express-g3500/1996-2012/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  3. Install the rear floor carpet trim plate. Refer to «Floor Trim Plate Replacement - Rear»(/chevrolet/chevy-express-g3500/1996-2012/remont/exterior-body-panels/#body-rear-end) in Body Rear End.
  4. Install the passenger side body side trim panel. Refer to «Trim Panel Replacement - Right Body Side»(/chevrolet/chevy-express-g3500/1996-2012/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  5. Install the driver side body side trim panel. Refer to «Trim Panel Replacement - Left Body Side»(/chevrolet/chevy-express-g3500/1996-2012/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  6. Install the rear passenger seats. Refer to «Seat Replacement - Rear Bench»(/chevrolet/chevy-express-g3500/1996-2012/remont/seats/#seat-system) in Seats.

  3. Remove the passenger side body side trim panel. Refer to «Trim Panel Replacement - Right Body Side»(/chevrolet/chevy-express-g3500/1996-2012/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  4. Remove the rear floor carpet trim plate. Refer to «Floor Trim Plate Replacement - Rear»(/chevrolet/chevy-express-g3500/1996-2012/remont/exterior-body-panels/#body-rear-end) in Body Rear End.
  5. Remove the side door stepwell mat. Refer to «Mat Replacement - Stepwell»(/chevrolet/chevy-express-g3500/1996-2012/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  6. Remove the rear floor mat/carpet from the vehicle.
  1. Install the rear floor mat/carpet to the vehicle.
  2. Install the side door stepwell mat. Refer to «Mat Replacement - Stepwell»(/chevrolet/chevy-express-g3500/1996-2012/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  3. Install the rear floor carpet trim plate. Refer to «Floor Trim Plate Replacement - Rear»(/chevrolet/chevy-express-g3500/1996-2012/remont/exterior-body-panels/#body-rear-end) in Body Rear End.
  4. Install the passenger side body side trim panel. Refer to «Trim Panel Replacement - Right Body Side»(/chevrolet/chevy-express-g3500/1996-2012/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  5. Install the driver side body side trim panel. Refer to «Trim Panel Replacement - Left Body Side»(/chevrolet/chevy-express-g3500/1996-2012/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  6. Install the rear passenger seats. Refer to «Seat Replacement - Rear Bench»(/chevrolet/chevy-express-g3500/1996-2012/remont/seats/#seat-system) in Seats.
CAUTIONDo not attempt to repair or alter the head impact energy-absorbing material glued to the headliner or to the garnish trims. If the material is damaged, replace the headliner and/or the garnish trim. Failure to do so could result in personal injury.
  1. Remove the windshield garnish molding. Refer to «Windshield Garnish Molding Replacement»(/chevrolet/chevy-express-g3500/1996-2012/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  2. Disconnect the headliner electrical connectors.
  3. Remove the sunshades. Refer to «Sunshade Replacement»(/chevrolet/chevy-express-g3500/1996-2012/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  4. Remove the front door upper pillar garnish molding. Refer to «Garnish Molding Replacement - Upper Pillar»(/chevrolet/chevy-express-g3500/1996-2012/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  5. Partially remove the upper part of the front door opening weather strips. Refer to «Weatherstrip Replacement - Front Door Opening»(/chevrolet/chevy-express-g3500/1996-2012/remont/door-locks-anti-theft-systems/#door-system-mirror-system-window-system) in Doors.
  6. Remove the front headliner retainers.
  7. Remove the front headliner from the vehicle.
  1. Install the front headliner to the vehicle.
  2. Install the front headliner retainers.
  3. Connect the headliner electrical connectors.
  4. Install the sunshades. Refer to «Sunshade Replacement»(/chevrolet/chevy-express-g3500/1996-2012/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  5. Install the windshield garnish molding. Refer to «Windshield Garnish Molding Replacement»(/chevrolet/chevy-express-g3500/1996-2012/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  6. Install the front door upper pillar garnish molding. Refer to «Garnish Molding Replacement - Upper Pillar»(/chevrolet/chevy-express-g3500/1996-2012/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  7. Install the front door opening weather strips. Refer to «Weatherstrip Replacement - Front Door Opening»(/chevrolet/chevy-express-g3500/1996-2012/remont/door-locks-anti-theft-systems/#door-system-mirror-system-window-system) in Doors.

  3. Remove the coat hooks. Refer to «Coat Hook Replacement»(/chevrolet/chevy-express-g3500/1996-2012/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  4. Remove the left rear upper garnish molding. Refer to «Garnish Molding Replacement - Left Body Side Upper»(/chevrolet/chevy-express-g3500/1996-2012/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  5. Remove the rear door garnish molding. Refer to «Garnish Molding Replacement - Rear Door Upper»(/chevrolet/chevy-express-g3500/1996-2012/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  6. Remove the rear corner garnish molding. Refer to «Garnish Molding Replacement - Rear Corner»(/chevrolet/chevy-express-g3500/1996-2012/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  7. Remove the upper seat belt anchor bolts. Refer to the following in Restraints: «Seat Belt Retractor Replacement - No. 2 Left Rear»(/chevrolet/chevy-express-g3500/1996-2012/remont/restraints-control-systems/#seat-belt-system) «Seat Belt Retractor Replacement - No. 2 Right Rear»(/chevrolet/chevy-express-g3500/1996-2012/remont/restraints-control-systems/#seat-belt-system) «Seat Belt Retractor Replacement - No. 3 Left Rear»(/chevrolet/chevy-express-g3500/1996-2012/remont/restraints-control-systems/#seat-belt-system) «Seat Belt Retractor Replacement - No. 3 Right Rear»(/chevrolet/chevy-express-g3500/1996-2012/remont/restraints-control-systems/#seat-belt-system)
  8. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
  9. Remove the headliner from the vehicle through the rear doors
  1. Install the headliner to the vehicle.
  2. Connect the electrical connectors.
  3. Install the coat hooks. Refer to «Coat Hook Replacement»(/chevrolet/chevy-express-g3500/1996-2012/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  4. Install the left rear upper garnish molding. Refer to «Garnish Molding Replacement - Left Body Side Upper»(/chevrolet/chevy-express-g3500/1996-2012/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  5. Install the rear door garnish molding. Refer to «Garnish Molding Replacement - Rear Door Upper»(/chevrolet/chevy-express-g3500/1996-2012/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  6. Install the rear corner garnish molding. Refer to «Garnish Molding Replacement - Rear Corner»(/chevrolet/chevy-express-g3500/1996-2012/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  7. Install the upper seat belt anchor bolts. Refer to the following in Restraints: «Seat Belt Retractor Replacement - No. 2 Left Rear»(/chevrolet/chevy-express-g3500/1996-2012/remont/restraints-control-systems/#seat-belt-system) «Seat Belt Retractor Replacement - No. 2 Right Rear»(/chevrolet/chevy-express-g3500/1996-2012/remont/restraints-control-systems/#seat-belt-system) «Seat Belt Retractor Replacement - No. 3 Left Rear»(/chevrolet/chevy-express-g3500/1996-2012/remont/restraints-control-systems/#seat-belt-system) «Seat Belt Retractor Replacement - No. 3 Right Rear»(/chevrolet/chevy-express-g3500/1996-2012/remont/restraints-control-systems/#seat-belt-system)
  8. Install the front headliner. Refer to «Headliner Replacement - Front»(/chevrolet/chevy-express-g3500/1996-2012/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  9. Install the rear passenger seats. Refer to «Seat Replacement - Rear Bench»(/chevrolet/chevy-express-g3500/1996-2012/remont/seats/#seat-system) in Seats.
  1. Using a suitable flat bladed tool, release the retaining tabs.
  2. Remove the assist handle from the windshield pillar trim.
  1. Install the assist handle to the windshield pillar.
  2. Press in the assist handle retaining tabs.
  1. With a flat-bladed tool remove the coat hook access cover (2) from the coat hook (4).
  2. Remove the coat hook screw (3).
  3. Remove the coat hook (4) fom the headliner (1).
  1. Align the coat hook (4) with the backing plate.
  2. Install the coat hook (4) to the headliner (1).
  3. Install the coat hook screw (3). Tighten: Tighten the coat hook screw to 1.0 N.m (9 lb in).
  4. Install the coat hook access cover (2) to the coat hook (4).
  1. Unclip the sunshade from the support.
  2. Remove the screws retaining the sunshade to the vehicle.
  3. Disconnect the electrical connector, if equipped.
  4. Remove the sunshade from the vehicle.
  1. Connect the electrical connector, if equipped.
  2. Install the sunshade to the vehicle.
  3. Install the screws in order to retain the sunshade to the vehicle.
  4. Clip the sunshade to the support.
  1. Remove the passenger side assist handle. Refer to «Assist Handle Replacement - Front»(/chevrolet/chevy-express-g3500/1996-2012/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  2. Grasp and gently pull the windshield garnish molding in order to release the clips.
  3. Remove the windshield garnish molding from the vehicle.
  4. Inspect the windshield garnish molding for broken or missing retaining clips. Replace the windshield garnish molding or clips as needed.
  1. Install the windshield garnish molding to the vehicle.
  2. Align the clips and press on the windshield garnish molding in order to engage the clips.
  3. Install the passenger side assist handle. Refer to «Assist Handle Replacement - Front»(/chevrolet/chevy-express-g3500/1996-2012/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  1. Remove the front seat belt from the front seat belt height adjuster. Refer to «Seat Belt Retractor Replacement - Front»(/chevrolet/chevy-express-g3500/1996-2012/remont/restraints-control-systems/#seat-belt-system) in Seat Belts.
  2. Grasp and gently pull the garnish molding in order to release the retaining clips.
  3. Remove the front door upper pillar garnish molding from the vehicle.
  4. Inspect the front door upper pillar garnish molding for broken or missing retaining clips.
  1. Install the front door upper pillar garnish molding to the vehicle.
  2. Align the retainers to the body and press the garnish molding in order to engage the retaining.
  3. Install the front seat belt to the front seat belt height adjuster. Refer to «Seat Belt Retractor Replacement - Front»(/chevrolet/chevy-express-g3500/1996-2012/remont/restraints-control-systems/#seat-belt-system) in Seat Belts.
  1. Remove the front door upper pillar garnish molding. Refer to «Garnish Molding Replacement - Upper Pillar»(/chevrolet/chevy-express-g3500/1996-2012/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  2. Remove the seat belt through the slot in the front lower pillar garnish molding.
  3. Remove the 2 screws from the garnish molding.
  4. Grasp and gently pull the front door lower pillar garnish molding in order to release the retaining clips.
  5. Remove the front door lower pillar garnish molding from the vehicle.
  6. Inspect the front door lower pillar garnish molding for broken or missing retaining clips. Replace the retaining clips as needed.
  1. Install the front door lower pillar garnish molding to the vehicle.
  2. Press on the front door lower pillar garnish molding in order to engage the retaining clips.
  3. Install the seat belt through the slot in the front door lower pillar garnish molding.
  4. Install the front door upper pillar garnish molding. Refer to «Garnish Molding Replacement - Upper Pillar»(/chevrolet/chevy-express-g3500/1996-2012/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  5. Install the 2 screws to secure the garnish molding.
  1. Pull out on the center pillar garnish (1,2) molding to disengage the clips.
  2. Remove the center pillar garnish molding.
  1. Align the body side upper (1,2) garnish molding clips to the holes in the body.
  2. Push in on the body side upper (1,2) garnish molding to engage the clips.
  1. Remove the passenger side body side trim panel. Refer to «Trim Panel Replacement - Right Body Side»(/chevrolet/chevy-express-g3500/1996-2012/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  2. Remove the passenger side body side rear upper garnish molding. Refer to «Garnish Molding Replacement - Body Side Rear Upper»(/chevrolet/chevy-express-g3500/1996-2012/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  3. Grasp and gently pull the passenger side front corner garnish molding down in order to disengage the retaining clips.
  4. Slip the seat belt through the slot in the passenger side front corner garnish molding.
  5. Remove the passenger side front corner garnish molding from the vehicle.
  6. Inspect the passenger side front corner garnish molding for broken or missing retaining clips. Replace the clips as needed.
  1. Install the passenger side front corner garnish molding to the vehicle.
  2. Slip the seat belt through the slot in the passenger side front corner garnish molding.
  3. Press on the passenger side front corner garnish molding in order to engage the retaining clips.
  4. Install the passenger side body side rear upper garnish molding. Refer to «Garnish Molding Replacement - Body Side Rear Upper»(/chevrolet/chevy-express-g3500/1996-2012/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  5. Install the passenger side body side trim panel. Refer to «Trim Panel Replacement - Right Body Side»(/chevrolet/chevy-express-g3500/1996-2012/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  1. Remove the upper pillar garnish molding. Refer to «Garnish Molding Replacement - Upper Pillar»(/chevrolet/chevy-express-g3500/1996-2012/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  2. Grasp and pull the upper pillar garnish molding away from the body in order to release the clips.
  3. Remove the upper pillar garnish molding from the vehicle.
  4. Inspect the front door upper pillar garnish molding for broken or missing clips.
  1. Align the upper pillar garnish molding retainers to the body.
  2. Push the upper pillar garnish molding towards the body to engage the clips.
  3. Install the upper pillar garnish molding. Refer to «Garnish Molding Replacement - Upper Pillar»(/chevrolet/chevy-express-g3500/1996-2012/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  1. Remove the rear passenger seats when needed. Refer to «Seat Replacement - Rear Bench»(/chevrolet/chevy-express-g3500/1996-2012/remont/seats/#seat-system) in Seats.
  2. Remove the passenger side rear corner trim panel, for the passenger side of the vehicle only. Refer to «Trim Panel Replacement - Right Rear Corner»(/chevrolet/chevy-express-g3500/1996-2012/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  3. Pull down on the upper corners of the garnish molding (1) in order to disengage the retaining clips.
  4. Pull in order to disengage the remaining retaining clips.
  5. Remove the rear corner garnish molding (1) from the vehicle.
  6. Inspect the rear corner garnish molding (1) for broken or missing clips. Replace the clips as needed.
  1. Install the rear corner garnish molding (1) to the vehicle.
  2. Press on the rear corner garnish molding (1) in order to engage the clips.
  3. Install the passenger side rear corner trim panel (1), for the passenger side of the vehicle only. Refer to «Trim Panel Replacement - Right Rear Corner»(/chevrolet/chevy-express-g3500/1996-2012/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  4. Install the rear passenger seats as needed. Refer to «Seat Replacement - Rear Bench»(/chevrolet/chevy-express-g3500/1996-2012/remont/seats/#seat-system) in Seats.
  1. Grasp and gently pull the rear door opening frame garnish molding down in order to disengage the retaining clips.
  2. Remove the rear door opening frame garnish molding from the vehicle.
  3. Inspect the rear door opening frame garnish molding for broken or missing retaining clips. Replace the clips as needed.
  1. Install the rear door opening frame garnish molding to the vehicle.
  2. Press on the rear door opening frame garnish molding in order to engage the retaining clips.
  1. Remove the retainers from the body side protectors.
  2. Remove the driver side body side front protector from the vehicle.
  3. Remove the driver side body side rear protector from the vehicle.
  4. Remove the passenger side body side protector from the vehicle.
  1. Install the passenger side body side protector to the vehicle.
  2. Install the driver side body side rear protector to the vehicle.
  3. Install the driver side body side front protector to the vehicle.
  4. Install the retainers to the body side protectors.
  1. Remove the rear passenger seats as needed. Refer to «Seat Replacement - Rear Bench»(/chevrolet/chevy-express-g3500/1996-2012/remont/seats/#seat-system) in Seats.
  2. Remove the front door lower pillar garnish molding. Refer to «Garnish Molding Replacement - Lower Pillar»(/chevrolet/chevy-express-g3500/1996-2012/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  3. Grasp and gently pull the body side front lower trim panel (1) in order to disengage the clips.
  4. Remove the body side trim panel (1) from the vehicle.
  5. Inspect the body side front lower trim panel (1) for broken or missing retaining clips. Replace the retaining clips as needed.
  1. Install the body side trim panel (1) to the vehicle.
  2. Press on the body side front lower trim pane (1) in order to engage the clips.
  3. Install the front door lower pillar garnish molding. Refer to «Garnish Molding Replacement - Lower Pillar»(/chevrolet/chevy-express-g3500/1996-2012/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  4. Install the rear passenger seats when needed. Refer to «Seat Replacement - Rear Bench»(/chevrolet/chevy-express-g3500/1996-2012/remont/seats/#seat-system) in Seats.
  1. Remove the rear passenger seats as needed. Refer to «Seat Replacement - Rear Bench»(/chevrolet/chevy-express-g3500/1996-2012/remont/seats/#seat-system) .
  2. Remove the passenger side rear corner trim panel. Refer to «Trim Panel Replacement - Right Rear Corner»(/chevrolet/chevy-express-g3500/1996-2012/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  3. Grasp and gently pull the passenger side body side trim panel in order to disengage the retaining clips.
  4. Remove the passenger side body side trim panel from the vehicle.
  5. Inspect the passenger side body side trim panel for broken or missing retaining clips. Replace the clips as needed.
  1. Install the passenger side body side trim panel to the vehicle.
  2. Position the trim panel. Press on the trim panel in order to engage the retaining clips.
  3. Install the passenger side rear corner trim panel. Refer to «Trim Panel Replacement - Right Rear Corner»(/chevrolet/chevy-express-g3500/1996-2012/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .
  4. Install the rear passenger seats as needed. Refer to «Seat Replacement - Rear Bench»(/chevrolet/chevy-express-g3500/1996-2012/remont/seats/#seat-system) .
