Diagnostic Starting Point - Mirrors
Begin the system diagnosis by reviewing the Description and Operation, refer to Power Mirrors Inoperative . Reviewing the Description and Operation information will help you determine the correct symptom diagnostic procedure when a malfunction exists. Reviewing the Description and Operation information will also help you determine if the condition described by the customer is normal operation. Refer to Power Mirrors Inoperative in order to identify the correct procedure for diagnosing a symptom when a DTC is not present.

| IMPORTANT | The following steps must be completed before using the symptom tables. |
- Perform the «Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle»(ref-300843-S03018657462008101600000) There are no DTCs set. The control modules can communicate via the serial data link.
- Review the system operation in order to familiarize yourself with the system functions. Refer to the following system descriptions: «Outside Mirror Description and Operation»(ref-300845-S17566665232008101600000) «Inside Rearview Mirror Description and Operation»(ref-300845-S21041789042008101600000)
Visual/Physical Inspection
- Inspect for aftermarket devices which could affect the operation of the system.
- Inspect the easily accessible or visible system components for obvious damage or conditions which could cause the symptom.
