Diagnostic Starting Point - Power Outlets
Begin the system diagnosis by reviewing the system Description and Operation. Reviewing the Description and Operation information will help you determine the correct symptom diagnostic procedure when a malfunction exists. Reviewing the Description and Operation information will also help you determine if the condition described by the customer is normal operation. Refer to Symptoms - Power Outlets in order to identify the correct procedure for diagnosing the system and where the procedure is located.
Visual/Physical Inspection
Inspect the easily accesible or visible system components for obvious damage or conditions which could cause the symptom.
Intermittent
Faulty electrical connections or wiring may be the cause of intermittent conditions. Rfer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections .
Removal Procedure
- Disconnect the negative battery cable.
- Remove the cigar lighter from the cigar lighter housing.
- Remove the floor console. Refer to «Front Floor Console Replacement (Notchback)»(/chevrolet/aveo/i-2006-2012/remont/gauges-instrument-panels/#instrument-panel-trim-and-console-trim) or «Front Floor Console Replacement (Hatchback)»(/chevrolet/aveo/i-2006-2012/remont/gauges-instrument-panels/#instrument-panel-trim-and-console-trim) .
- Remove the cigar lighter housing from the instrument panel.
- Disconnect the cigar lighter electrical connector.
Installation Procedure
- Connect the cigar lighter electrical connector.
- Install the cigar lighter housing in the instrument panel.
- Install the floor console. Refer to «Front Floor Console Replacement (Notchback)»(/chevrolet/aveo/i-2006-2012/remont/gauges-instrument-panels/#instrument-panel-trim-and-console-trim) or «Front Floor Console Replacement (Hatchback)»(/chevrolet/aveo/i-2006-2012/remont/gauges-instrument-panels/#instrument-panel-trim-and-console-trim) .
- Install the cigar lighter in the cigar lighter housing.
- Connect the negative battery cable.
