Refilling & Inspecting
- Coat the NEW filter seal with automatic transmission fluid.
- Install the NEW filter seal into the transmission case. Tap the seal into place using a suitable size socket. (Scheme 6)
- Install the NEW filter.
- Install the oil pan and NEW gasket. (Scheme 3)
- Install the oil pan bolts. (Scheme 2) Tighten the bolts alternately and evenly to specification. See «TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS»(/cadillac/escalade/gmt800-2001-2006/remont/automatic-trans/#automatic-transmission-4l60-e4l65-e-servicing__torque-specifications).
- If previously removed, install the range selector cable bracket and bolts. Tighten the bolts to specification. See «TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS»(/cadillac/escalade/gmt800-2001-2006/remont/automatic-trans/#automatic-transmission-4l60-e4l65-e-servicing__torque-specifications).
- Apply a small amount of sealant to the threads of the oil pan drain plug, if equipped.

- Lower the vehicle.
- Fill transmission to proper level with appropriate fluid. See «RECOMMENDED FLUIDS»(/cadillac/escalade/gmt800-2001-2006/remont/automatic-trans/#automatic-transmission-4l60-e4l65-e-servicing__recommended-fluids) and «FLUID CAPACITIES»(/cadillac/escalade/gmt800-2001-2006/remont/automatic-trans/#automatic-transmission-4l60-e4l65-e-servicing__fluid-capacities).
- Check the COLD fluid level reading for initial fill only.
- Inspect the oil pan gasket for leaks.
