DESCRIPTION & OPERATION
| WARNING | Accidental air bag deployment is possible. Personal injury may result. To avoid accidental air bag deployment or injury, read and carefully follow all WARNINGS and AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS . |
Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) system is designed to supplement protection provided by driver-side and passenger-side seat belts. A frontal collision of sufficient force will deploy driver-side and passenger-side air bag modules. A side collision of sufficient force will deploy side impact air bag module on side of impact. Steering column and knee bolsters also absorb collision energy.
SIR system consists of Sensing and Diagnostic Module (SDM), driver-side and passenger-side air bag modules, Electronic Frontal Sensors (EFS), driver and passenger side impact air bag modules, Side Impact Sensors (SIS), driver-side and front passenger Seat Position Sensors (SPS), Passenger Presence System (PPS), SIR coil assembly and AIR BAG warning light. SDM maintains a 23 Volt Loop Reserve (VLR) to provide deployment energy for up to one minute after loss of battery voltage.

SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK
When ignition is turned on, AIR BAG warning light should flash 7 times and then go off. System malfunction is indicated when light does not illuminate at all, light comes on while vehicle is driven, light flashes 7 times and remains on or light does not flash but remains on when ignition is turned on.
AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
Observe the following precautions when working with SIR system
- SDM maintains sufficient voltage to cause air bag deployment for up to one minute after ignition is turned off, battery is disconnected or fuse powering SDM is removed. Disable air bag system before working on vehicle. See «DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM»(/cadillac/escalade/gmt800-2001-2006/remont/airbag/#supplemental-inflatable-restraint-system__disabling-activating-air-bag-system) .
- If vehicle interior is exposed to moisture and becomes soaked up to level of SDM, SDM and harness connector must be replaced. SDM could be activated when powered, causing air bag deployment.
- After repairs, ensure AIR BAG warning light is working properly and no system faults are indicated. See «SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK»(/cadillac/escalade/gmt800-2001-2006/remont/airbag/#supplemental-inflatable-restraint-system__system-operation-check) .
- Always wear safety glasses when servicing or handling an air bag module.
- Air bag modules must be stored in original special containers until used for service. Store in a clean, dry place, away from sources of extreme heat, sparks, or high electrical energy.
- SIR components should not be subjected to temperatures greater than 150°F (65°C).
- SIR components should not be used if they have been dropped from a height of 3 feet (0.9 m) or greater.
- When placing a live air bag module on a bench or other surface, always make certain that trim cover faces up. This will reduce motion of module if accidentally deployed.
- After deployment, air bag surface may contain deposits of sodium hydroxide, which can irritate skin. Always wear safety glasses, rubber gloves and long-sleeved shirt during clean-up and wash hands using mild soap and water. Follow correct disposal procedures. See «DISPOSAL PROCEDURES»(/cadillac/escalade/gmt800-2001-2006/remont/airbag/#supplemental-inflatable-restraint-system__disposal-procedures) .
- At no time should any electrical source be allowed near inflator on back of air bag module.
- DO NOT apply power to SIR system unless all components are connected or a diagnostic chart requests it, as this will set a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC).
- When carrying a live air bag module, trim cover should be pointed away from body to minimize injury in case of accidental deployment.
- DO NOT attempt to service SIR components. If defective, these parts must be replaced.
- DO NOT probe a wire through insulator. Wire will be damaged and eventually fail due to corrosion.
- When performing electrical tests, prevent accidental shorting of terminals. Such mistakes can damage fuses or components and may cause a second DTC to set, making diagnosis of original problem more difficult.
- When performing electrical diagnosis on SIR system, under no circumstances should a volt/ohmmeter, test light or any type of electrical equipment not specified by manufacturer be used.
- If SIR system is not fully functional for any reason, vehicle should not be driven until system is repaired. DO NOT remove bulbs, modules, sensors or other components or in any way disable system from operating normally.

DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTC'S)
Sensing & Diagnostic Module (SDM) provides a record of each DTC, stored according to type. SDM performs diagnostic monitoring of SIR system electrical components and sets a DTC when a malfunction is detected. Current DTC's are stored in SDM and are erased when fault is corrected. Current DTC's can be read using a scan tool such as Tech 2.
SCAN TOOL DIAGNOSTICS
Scan Tool (Tech 2) reads and clears current and history DTC's. Ensure scan tool contains correct software cartridge for SIR diagnostics. To use scan tool, connect it to Data Link Connector (DLC), located near base of steering column. Plug in power source and turn ignition on. Follow scan tool manufacturer instructions for communication with SIR system.
DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURES
Diagnostic procedures are designed to find and repair SIR malfunctions. It is important to use diagnostic tests and follow sequence listed below
Perform SIR Diagnostic System Check
SIR diagnostic system check should always be starting point for any SIR diagnostics. It checks for proper AIR BAG warning light operation and DTC's using both flash code and scan tool methods. See SIR DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK .
Refer To Proper Diagnostic Test
SIR diagnostic system check indicates correct test to diagnose SIR problems. Bypassing procedures may result in extended diagnostic time, incorrect diagnosis and incorrect parts replacement.
Repeat SIR Diagnostic System Check
Performing SIR diagnostic system check after all repair or diagnostic procedures ensures that repair has been made correctly and that no other conditions exist.
Diagnostic Procedure
- Observe AIR BAG warning light when turning ignition on. If AIR BAG warning light flashes 7 times, go to next step. If AIR BAG warning light does not flash 7 times, inspect vehicle for damage to wiring system, visible body damage, faulty or intermittent electrical connections or addition of aftermarket devices which could affect SIR operation. Diagnose AIR BAG warning light malfunction. See «AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT CIRCUIT MALFUNCTION»(/cadillac/escalade/gmt800-2001-2006/remont/airbag/#supplemental-inflatable-restraint-system) .
- Install scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC), located under left side of instrument panel. If scan tool powers up, go to next step. If scan tool does not power up, inspect and repair data link communication circuits.
- If scan tool communicates with SDM, go to next step. If scan tool does not communicate with SDM, inspect and repair data link communications circuits.
- Using scan tool, request SIR DTC display. If scan tool displays history or current SIR DTC's, go to next step. If scan tool does not display any SIR DTC's, system is normal.
- If scan tool displays any DTC's that begin with "U", inspect and repair applicable data link communication circuits and components. If no DTC's are displayed that begin with "U", go to next step.
- If scan tool displays DTC B1000, go to «DTC B1000»(/cadillac/escalade/gmt800-2001-2006/remont/airbag/#supplemental-inflatable-restraint-system) . If scan tool does not display DTC B1000, go to next step.
- If scan tool displays DTC B0092 or B0098, go to next step. If scan tool displays other DTC's, diagnose and repair applicable SIR DTC's. See «DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) IDENTIFICATION»(/cadillac/escalade/gmt800-2001-2006/remont/airbag/#supplemental-inflatable-restraint-system) table. NOTE: If may be necessary to request Passenger Presence System (PPS) to flash DTC's more than once. To ensure no DTC's are present, perform following procedure several times.
- Using scan tool, request PPS to flash DTC's several times. See «PASSENGER PRESENCE FLASH CODE PROCEDURE»(/cadillac/escalade/gmt800-2001-2006/remont/airbag/#supplemental-inflatable-restraint-system) . If PPS flashes any current or history DTC's, diagnose and repair applicable SIR DTC's. See «DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) IDENTIFICATION»(/cadillac/escalade/gmt800-2001-2006/remont/airbag/#supplemental-inflatable-restraint-system) table.
Circuit Description
When ignition is turned on, Sensing and Diagnostic Module (SDM) performs tests to diagnose critical internal malfunctions. When SDM has completed power up mode, SDM will establish communication with Passenger Presence System (PPS). PPS will respond by performing diagnostic tests to check for proper circuit continuity and for shorts to ground or voltage with PPS. If PPS detects a malfunction, PPS will set a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) and send a message to SDM, requesting that SDM disable passenger-side air bag module deployment loop.
Action Taken
SDM disables passenger-side air bag module deployment loop, sets DTC B0092 or B0098 and turns on AIR BAG warning light.
Flash Code Procedure
- Ensure passenger front seat is empty. Install scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC), located under left side of instrument panel. NOTE: When PPS codes are flashing, Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) and dash lights will begin dimming on and off. This is a normal operation during PPS flashing procedure and does not indicate additional system faults.
- Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, request PPS to flash DTC's. When PPS receives a valid request to flash DTC's PPS will do the following: Illuminate both PASSENGER AIR BAG ON and OFF indicators, located on inside rear view mirror, for one second. Turn off both PASSENGER AIR BAG ON and OFF indicators for one second. Flash the first digit of DTC using the OFF indicator. Count number of flashes to determine first DTC digit. Flash the second digit of DTC using ON indicator. Count number of flashes to determine second DTC digit. When flashing procedure is initiated, PPS will flash all current and history DTC's. After all DTC's have been flashed, PPS will re-flash DTC's that are stored as current DTC's. Any DTC that is not re-flashed is a history DTC.
- If flashing procedure was unsuccessful, repeat flashing procedure. Due to communication status between SDM and PPS, procedure may need to be repeated until a successful flash sequence has been achieved. Diagnose and repair applicable SIR DTC's. See «DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) IDENTIFICATION»(/cadillac/escalade/gmt800-2001-2006/remont/airbag/#supplemental-inflatable-restraint-system) table.
COMPASS CALIBRATION & COMPASS MAGNETIC VARIATION ADJUSTMENT
Note. Before calibrating compass, drive vehicle to an area that is magnetically clean and free of large metallic objects such as high tension wires or steel buildings. Ensure there are no magnetized items on inside or outside of vehicle near mirror.
Compass Calibration
- Ensure mirror has correct compass variation zone number. See «COMPASS MAGNETIC VARIATION ADJUSTMENT»(/cadillac/escalade/gmt800-2001-2006/remont/airbag/#supplemental-inflatable-restraint-system__compass-magnetic-variation-adjustment) .
- Start engine. Locate compass switch button. Depending on mirror model, switch button will be marked with COMP, COMPASS or ON/OFF. Press and hold switch button until "C" or "CAL" is displayed in mirror.
- Drive vehicle in circles at a speed less than 5 mph (8 km/h) until "C" or "CAL" is replaced by a proper vehicle heading. Calibration is complete.
Compass Magnetic Variation Adjustment
- Locate current geographic location (zone map) using world magnetic variation map. (Scheme 98) Locate compass switch button. Depending on mirror model, switch button will be marked with COMP, COMPASS or ON/OFF.
- Turn ignition on, with engine off. Press and hold switch until a zone number appears on compass display. Depress compass switch to select desired zone map number. Wait 5 seconds. Mirror display will return to a compass reading. Variance procedure is complete. Calibrate compass. Go to «COMPASS CALIBRATION»(/cadillac/escalade/gmt800-2001-2006/remont/airbag/#supplemental-inflatable-restraint-system__compass-calibration).

PASSENGER PRESENCE SYSTEM REZEROING PROCEDURE
Note. Rezeroing procedure must be completed whenever PPS has been serviced or components have been replaced. Read all instructions carefully before beginning procedure.
Rezeroing Procedure
- Ensure passenger front seat is empty. Ensure all SIR and PPS components, connectors and Connector Position Assurance (CPA) clips are installed correctly. Install scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC), located under left side of instrument panel. NOTE: All SIR and PPS DTC's must be cleared before rezeroing PPS. Presence of current or history DTC's will prevent PPS from rezeroing.
- Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, clear SIR and PPS DTC's. Request PPS rezeroing procedure using scan tool.
- When rezeroing procedure is initiated, PPS will illuminate both PASSENGER AIR BAG ON and OFF indicators, located on rear view mirror until rezeroing procedure in completed: When rezeroing procedure has been successfully completed, PPS will display current system status in rear view mirror indicator. If rezeroing procedure was unsuccessful, both PASSENGER AIR BAG ON and OFF indicators will alternate from no illumination to full illumination in one second intervals for 5 seconds. PPS will treat an unsuccessful rezeroing attempt as a system fault.
- If rezeroing procedure was unsuccessful, repeat this procedure. Due to communication status between SDM and PPS, rezeroing procedure may need to be repeated until a successful flash sequence has been achieved. Go to «SIR DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK»(/cadillac/escalade/gmt800-2001-2006/remont/airbag/#supplemental-inflatable-restraint-system) .

If condition is not corrected, go to step 2. If condition is corrected, system is normal.
Seat belt tension retractor sensor is used to enhance Passenger Presence System (PPS) when an infant car seat is properly restrained on front outboard passenger seat. Seat tension retractor sensor is a 3-wire potentiometer mounted on lower seat belt anchor, providing input to PPS ECU. When infant car seat is properly restrained, seat belt is tightly secured through car seat. Seat belt pulls on tension sensor and changes voltage signal to PPS sensor. PPS uses voltage signal to help determine if a tightly belted infant car seat is installed. PPS uses inputs from seat belt tension retractor sensor and PPS pressure sensor to determine if passenger-side air bag module should be suppressed or enabled. PPS monitors seat belt tension retractor sensor circuits and sets DTC 023 if a fault is detected.
Conditions For Setting DTC
DTC sets when PPS detects voltage at passenger seat belt tension retractor sensor signal circuit is less than 0.05 volts or greater than 4.5 volts for 500 milliseconds, when PPS detects voltage at passenger seat belt tension retractor sensor 5-volt reference circuit is less than 4.5 volts or greater than 9.1 volts for 500 milliseconds or when PPS detects amperage at passenger seat belt tension retractor sensor low reference circuit is 25 ma or greater for 500 milliseconds.
SDM disables passenger-side air bag module deployment loop and turns on AIR BAG warning light.
Conditions For Clearing DTC
Current DTC clears when condition responsible for setting DTC no longer exists and scan tool CLEAR DTC command has been used to clear DTC's. History DTC clears when 255 malfunction-free ignition cycles have occurred.
Condition can be caused by a short between any combination of circuits 904, 905 and 906. An open or high resistance in any circuit could also cause condition.
Note. For circuit number and wire color identification, see WIRING DIAGRAMS .

Road test vehicle, then check for DTC's. If DTC is retrieved, go to step 2. If DTC is not retrieved, system is normal.
Passenger Presence System (PPS) is used to monitor weight of an occupant on front outboard passenger seat and communicate status to SDM as to whether to enable or suppress passenger-side air bag module deployment loop. PPS consists of an Electronic Control Unit (ECU), silicone filled sensor pad, also known as PPS bladder, pressure sensor, seat belt tension retractor sensor, wiring harness and PASSENGER AIR BAG ON and OFF indicators. Weight of front passenger seat occupant is measured as a pressure change within bladder by pressure sensor. If pressure is more than a specified value, PPS will send a signal to enable passenger-side air bag module deployment loop. If pressure is less than a specified value, PPS will send a signal to suppress passenger-side air bag module deployment loop. PPS will notify driver of status via PASSENGER AIR BAG ON and OFF indicators, located on inside rear view mirror. PPS monitors itself for faults and will set DTC if fault is detected. PPS will also notify SDM of fault. SDM will respond by setting either DTC B0092 or DTC B0098.
DTC sets when PPS detects ignition voltage is less than 8 volts for 500 milliseconds.
SDM disables passenger-side air bag module deployment loop and turns on AIR BAG warning light.
Current DTC clears when condition responsible for setting DTC no longer exists and scan tool CLEAR DTC command has been used to clear DTC's. History DTC clears when 255 malfunction-free ignition cycles have occurred.
Condition could be caused by a short, an open or high resistance in ignition voltage circuit between PPS ECU and body relay block.
Note. For circuit number and wire color identification, see WIRING DIAGRAMS .

Sensing and Diagnostic Module (SDM) contains a sensing device which converts vehicle velocity changes to an electrical signal. SDM processes electrical signals and compares them to values stored in memory. When signals exceed stored value, additional signal processing is performed and signals are compared to values stored in memory. When 2 signals exceed stored values, SDM causes current to flow through air bag modules, deploying air bag modules and causing DTC B1051 to set.
DTC sets when SDM (SDM) detects an impact of sufficient force to deploy air bags.

Side Impact Sensor (SIS) uses a unidirectional 2-wire circuit. SIS modulates current on the interface to send identification, State Of Health (SOH) and deployment commands to Sensing and Diagnostic Module (SDM). SDM provides power and ground to Side Impact Sensor (SIS). When ignition is turned on and power from SDM is detected by SIS, SIS performs internal diagnostics, then sends an identification message to SDM. SDM receives identification message within 5 seconds of power being turned on and determines if message is valid. SIS continually communicates a status message to SDM. When a fault is detected, SDM resets SIS twice by removing and reapplying power to SIS. If fault is still present, SDM will set DTC.
DTC B0077 will set when SDM does not receive a valid identification message within 5 seconds of driver-side SIS being powered up, status message is not received or SDM has reset SIS twice without detecting valid identification message. DTC B0078 will set when SDM does not receive a valid identification message within 5 seconds of passenger-side SIS being powered up, status message is not received or SDM has reset SIS twice without detecting valid identification message.
DTC B0079 will set when SDM receives an identification message from driver-side SIS that does not match identification stored in memory or after SDM has tried twice to reset SIS without detecting correct identification message. DTC B0081 will set when SDM receives an identification message from passenger-side SIS that does not match identification stored in memory or after SDM has tried twice to reset SIS without detecting correct identification message.
DTC B0080 will set when SDM has received a Not Okay (NOK) message from driver-side SIS. DTC B0082 will set when SDM has received a Not Okay (NOK) message from passenger-side SIS.
SDM attempts to reset SIS, turns on AIR BAG warning light and sets DTC.
DTC will clear when condition responsible for setting DTC no longer exists and CLEAR DTC command is issued via scan tool. History DTC will clear once 255 malfunction free ignition cycles have occurred.
Condition could be caused by a short to ground or voltage, high or low resistance in circuits 2161, 2162, 2163 or 2164. A short between circuits 2161 and 2162 or 2163 and 2164 could also cause condition.

Seat Position Switch (SPS) is used to determine driver or front passenger seat position. SPS interfaces with Sensing and Diagnostic Module (SDM). State of SPS allows SDM to disable Stage 2 deployment of applicable air bag module. SPS is a Hall effect sensor mounted on seat tracks. Shunted state of SPS represents rearward seat position, while non-shunted state represents a forward seat position. SPS is secondary to passenger-side air bag module disable switch and Passenger Presence System (PPS). If either device is in disable mode, passenger-side air bag module will not deploy regardless of SPS status.
DTC sets when SDM detects SPS circuit amperage is 4 milliamps or less for 500 milliamps, when circuit amperage is 18 milliamps or more for 500 milliseconds or when circuit amperage is between 8 milliamps and 11 milliamps for 500 milliseconds.
SDM defaults SPS to forward threshold, sets DTC and turns on AIR BAG warning light.

PPS will respond by commanding both PASSENGER AIR BAG ON and OFF indicators, located in rear view mirror, on for 5 seconds. SDM will transmit a request message to PPS to receive PPS verification identification. PPS will transmit verification identification to SDM and SDM will compare identification received to data stored in memory. SDM will also set DTC B0092 to notify driver that PPS has a current malfunction. When SDM determines that PPS has set DTC 023, 024, 063, 064 or 065, SDM will disable passenger-side air bag module deployment loop, set DTC B0092 and turn AIR BAG warning light on.
SDM disables passenger-side air bag module deployment loop and turns on AIR BAG warning light.
Current DTC clears when condition responsible for DTC no longer exists and CLEAR CODES command is issued via scan tool. History DTC clears when 255 malfunction free ignition cycles have occurred.
DTC B0092 is an indication that SDM has received an incorrect PPS verification identification or has lost communication with PPS. If SDM does not receive correct verification identification from PPS within 5 seconds, SDM will set the DTC as current, turn on AIR BAG warning light and disable passenger-side air bag module deployment loop. DTC will set if PPS has a current malfunction and has set DTC 023, 024, 033, 063, 064 or 065.

Electronic Frontal Sensor (EFS), uses a unidirectional 2-wire circuit. EFS sensor modulates current on the interface to send identification, State Of Health (SOH) and deployment commands to Sensing and Diagnostic Module (SDM). SDM serves as a power source and ground for EFS. When ignition is turned on and EFS detects power from SDM, EFS responds by performing internal diagnostics and sending identification to SDM. SDM considers identification message to be valid if received within 5 seconds of EFS powering up. EFS continually communicates a status message to SDM. When fault is detected, SDM will attempt to reset EFS twice by removing and applying power. If fault is still present, SDM will set a DTC.
DTC B0100 sets when SDM does not receive a valid identification message from driver-side EFS within 5 seconds of being powered up, when a status message is not received or when SDM has tried twice to reset EFS. DTC B0103 sets when SDM does not receive a valid identification message from passenger-side EFS within 5 seconds of being powered up, when a status message is not received or when SDM has tried twice to reset EFS.
DTC B0101 sets when SDM has received 4 consecutive NOK (Not Okay) messages from driver-side EFS. DTC B0104 sets when SDM has received 4 consecutive NOK (Not Okay) messages from passenger-side EFS.
DTC B0102 will set when SDM has received an identification message from driver-side EFS which does not match identification message stored in SDM and SDM has tried twice to reset EFS. DTC B0105 will set when SDM has received an identification message from passenger-side EFS which does not match identification message stored in SDM and SDM has tried twice to reset EFS.
SDM turns on AIR BAG warning light and sets DTC.
DTC will clear when condition responsible for setting DTC no longer exists and CLEAR DTC command is issued via scan tool. History DTC will clear once 255 malfunction free ignition cycles have occurred.
Condition could be caused by short between circuits 349 and 354 or 1409 and 1834. An incorrect EFS or an open or high resistance in any circuit could also cause condition.

When ignition is turned on, Sensing and Diagnostic Module (SDM) compares restraints identification stored in SDM to restraints identification stored in Body Control Module (BCM). SDM will then compare Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) stored in SDM to VIN stored in Powertrain Control Module (PCM).
DTC sets when restraints identification stored in SDM does not match restraints identification stored in BCM or when VIN stored in SDM does not match VIN stored in BCM.
SDM sets DTC, turns on AIR BAG warning light and disables air bag module deployment loops.
Current DTC clears when condition responsible for setting DTC no longer exists and a CLEAR DTC's command is issued via scan tool. History DTC will clear once 255 malfunction-free ignition cycles have occurred.
DTC is an indication that restraints identification stored in BCM and SDM DO NOT match or that VIN stored in PCM and SDM DO NOT match. If PCM or BCM were replaced, modules will need to be reprogrammed. If BCM or SDM were replaced, Vehicle Theft Deterrent (VTD) system will need to be reprogrammed.
- If SIR diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step. If SIR diagnostic system check has not been performed, go to «SIR DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK»(/cadillac/escalade/gmt800-2001-2006/remont/airbag/#supplemental-inflatable-restraint-system) .

- Reconnect all SIR components. Using scan tool, clear DTC's. Road test vehicle, then check for DTC's. If DTC is retrieved, go to step 2 . If DTC is not retrieved, system is normal.
WIRE REPAIR
SIR system requires special wiring repair procedures due to sensitive nature of circuitry. Wire Repair Kit (J-38125-B) contains special sealed splices for use in repairing SIR wiring. Splices use a heat shrink sleeve with sealing adhesive to produce a sealed splice and a cross-hatched core crimp to produce a positive contact for low energy circuits.
Repair damaged SIR wire harness connectors and terminals (except pigtails) using connector repair assembly packs and splice crimping tool provided. Terminals in SIR system are manufactured from a special metal to provide necessary contact integrity for sensitive, low-energy circuits. These terminals are only available in connector repair assembly packs and no other terminal should be substituted.
If individual terminals on SDM connector are damaged, SDM connector must be replaced using SDM connector pigtail assembly or SDM connector replacement kit. If individual terminals on any other SIR connector are damaged, entire connector must be replaced. Use appropriate connector repair assembly pack. Replace entire SIR wire harness, if necessary to maintain SIR circuit integrity.
DO NOT make wiring, connector or terminal repairs on components with wiring pigtails. If a wiring pigtail is damaged, entire component (including pigtail) should be replaced.
Any wiring other than a pigtail can be repaired by splicing in a new section of wire of same gauge. Sealed splices and crimping tool must be used for these splices. Open wire harness by removing tape as necessary, using a sewing seam ripper. Refer to instructions in kit for wiring repair procedure.
